I watch her videos for many years. There are a lot of new RU-vidrs, I still like her the best. Whenever I want to make shikye, or other Korean food and drinks, then I watch her videos again. I use her recipes and never fail myself.

Maangchi, is 엿기름가루 the same as 엿기름? I bought one today it's written 엿기름 Malt Powder.

@@soydoratheadorer7348 ahhh sugar cane drinks taste exactly like sugar cane without the hassle of biting into the stems. It doesn't smell like prune juice nor molasses. So good though, I'd recommend you give it a try!

@@soydoratheadorer7348 There's no need for you to be rude lol. Sugarcane juice is actually pretty good. It's sweet and refreshing when cold. You should give it a try! I recommend fresh-squeezed sugarcane because fresh is always best :D

@@soydoratheadorer7348 lol I'm not sure you drink the real sugarcane drinks or a prune juice and mistaken it as sugarcane juice lol, Well made Sugarcane drink just smell like a sugar water and when its cold its almost didn't have any fragrance at all, its sweet and refreshing

Most of the commercially sold versions (like at restaurants) tastes nothing like the real stuff. Not saying it's bad but it tends to be 10 times sweeter but also somehow watered down (?) compared to the real drink. Would probably be a whole different experience!

어릴적 설날에 외할머니댁에 가면 할머니께서 가족들을 위해 만든 식혜가 커다란 들통에 가득 담겨져 있었어요~ 추운 겨울날 밖에다가 내놓아서 살얼음이 껴있었죠 저희가 오면 맛있는 전과 잡채 그리고 들통을 가지고 오셔셔 밥그릇에 한그릇씩 가득 주셨어요. 이가 시릴정도로 차갑고 달콤했던 그맛~ 지금은 할머니께서 돌아가셔셔 더 이상 그 맛을 볼수없지만.. 식혜만 보면 그때 추억과 맛이 생각납니다. 망치여사님의 식혜를 보니 할머니가 보고싶어 지는 밤이네용. 영상 늘 잘보고 있습니다. 감사합니다!!

I've been looking for so many sikhye recipes after drinking it at a korean restaurant! I loved how sweet yet rich it tasted, and the little chunks we're fun to eat. Thank you so much maangchi, I'll make it as soon as possible. 한식당에서 식혜를 마셨어서 너무 좋아했어요. 가르쳐서 고맙습니다 망치님! 만들고 또 코멘트 남길 거예요 😄

Sikhye was sometimes made by my grandmother when I was young. Now that I just buy it, but I think I can make her too. Her recipe is amazing! Thank you so much, maangchi❤️

the sikhye that is sold at the asian store is too sweet for me and i was never really fond of it, now im gonna give it another try! thank you maangchi for the recipe as always!

Yes, you are right. Besides it's too much diluted and the color of sikhye is like sugar water. Homemade is the best. Good luck!

I just want to say thank you for making these videos. You are one of the most genuinely delightful people I have ever come across. Together with your knowledge I am happily addicted to your videos. But I’ve found it’s more than that. These days your videos help me get through the days. They make the time go faster at dialysis. They make procedures more tolerable as a distraction and during times like now while I’m on bed rest they keep me company. Thank you for that. PS I must admit I have found myself waving back when you end the episode!

Korean loooove this drink! We HAVE TO drink this at sauna. Very good after sweating. It is sweet but not too much. There is canned sikhye, but homemade is the best. 식혜 정말 좋아하는데 레시피 올려주셔서 감사해요.

한국에서 살던 적 있는 중국 사람입니다. 30대초반 남성이고요 ㅎㅎ 지금 일본에 살고 있는데 한국음식이 너무 그립고 땡겨가지고 직접 만들려고(밖에서 사는건 한국맛이 안 나더라고요) 유튜브에서 영상을 찾다가 마앙치님의 채녈을 발견하게 됐어요. 그리고 오늘은 갑자기 식혜가 먹고 싶어져서 혹시나 해서 찾았더니 있네요!! 영상 잘 보고 갑니다. 앞으로도 계속 맛있는 한국요리 영상을 많이 올려주세요! 감사합니다!

Maangchi, I've been a fan of yours for at least 10 years! When i was leaning to cook for myself I used your videos to help me make simple delicious foods that were harder for me to find in restaurants in my area. Over the last few years more and more Korean food is available and I can finally get ingredients for some of your more challenging dishes. Today I made sikhye! Hello maangchi, I have a question not related to sikhye 😅 I have a large package of store bought gochujang in the fridge. I'll go on vacation for a while and will shut down the refrigerator. How can I store my gochujang? Can I freeze it? Thank you

This is very similar to Mexican beverage called "horchata" and it is like a rice milk with cinnamon. Very delicious as well but this looks yummy!! Love your videos Maangchi 💚

At my local korean fried chicken shop beer is no 2 choice for drinks, no 1 most popular is carbonated sikhye with vanilla butter cream something like that..at first i was like hmm why they don't order beer for chimaek (korean term for chicken and beer), out of curiousity i tried a glass of the carbonated sikhye..omg trust me much better than beer and it is indescribable the taste is so freaking good and it is non alcoholic so whole family can enjoy the goodness❤️

엿기름 가루 쓰는거 처음봤어요! 저희는 아시는분 방앗간에서 엿기름 빻은걸 가져다가 면보로 짜고 난리도 아니였는데ㅋㅋㅋㅋ;; 아 그리고 또 저희 집에선 식혜 끓일때 생강을 넣어요. 그래서 그런지 생강없는거는 뭔가 2프로 부족한 느낌! 미국에 혼자 살면서, 가끔 한국 전통음식이 너무 땡기는데 혼자 해먹을 줄은 모르고.. 그럴때마다 망치님 영상 보면 기분이 좋아져요ㅎㅎ

저희 남매는 식혜밥을 좋아해서 큰집에서 항상 밥을 엄청많이 넣고 해주셨어요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 하얗고 물렁하고 단 밥을 숟가락으로 퍽퍽 퍼먹었답니다.. 식혜에 생강 크게 썰어서 생강향이 나게 먹으면 엄청 맛있어요♡

went to south korea last year and drank this at jimjilbang..instantly fell in love.. and i went to myeongdong street to buy some more... XD now i can buy canned sikhye from korean grocery store in singapore and malaysia..

i used to attend weekly Korean classes back in 5th grade, and my classmates were both kindergarteners. when my teacher brought some sikhye for the class, guess what one of my classmates said? she said, and i am quoting her directly: "this tastes like chicken soup."

I used to get to drink this from the very home-style Korean restaurant we like going to. (Their banchan are always the best!! And they make different types; I’ve eaten 20-30 distinct dishes by going there over the years! Wow! I feel most Reataurants always make the same banchan.) But, maybe since it’s a bit of a long process, they stopped making it. 😢 Thank you for explaining, now I can! I just wish I had a bigger rice cooker! ☺️ The mysterious thing about this menu-when I think about it, I think it does not look very delicious until you’ve tried it, and then, after you eat it, it’s so good that it becomes beautiful in your eyes and you get excited by seeing it! 😂😊 “Ahhh, beautiful! Oh, look, it looks so good!!!!”

저의 최애 드링크가 식혜랍니다~ 애들도 우지 좋아하구요~ 저도 따뜻한 식혜 좋아해요~ 냉장고 보관한 것도 일부러 뎁혀먹기도 해요~ 집에서 자주 해먹는데 이 더운 여름에 슬러시는 미처 생각을 못했네요~^^ 그리고 고운 분말형태의 엿기름을 사용하신 것도 그렇고 만드는 방법도 다소 차이가 있는데 망치님 방법대로 만들어보고싶네요~ 유익한 영상 감사합니다~!
