Picturing Mike on these swings for two hours and Rich aimlessly wandering around with a balloon in his hand is literally the funniest thing I can imagine. I‘m in tears.
Well, Rich also alluded to the fact it wasn't really that fun for him either, relaying how the crew kinda treat extras like sheep. Plus, Rich was wandering the crowds with a stranger at first and then completely by himself. So I imagine he completely understood if Mike had a terrible time, felt sick, and wanted to leave. I mean if your best friend is having a terrible time, you're probably not either.
"I'm gonna put you on a call with the director!!" Wow, Mike could've gotten to talk to the critically acclaimed director of Big Mama's house, The Smurfs, and Home Alone 3!!!

I noticed this continuity error when I first watched the film. Wait a minute, there was a guy swinging around on the swing machine and then he was just gone. And another guy was walking around the park and suddenly he disappeared. Ruined the whole movie for me.
Drew Barrymore and her male co-star were beyond lucky being able to share the screen with Hollywood mega superstar Rich Evans, I'm so jealous right now
The director was Raja Gosnell, who directed many prestigious pictures such as Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2, and Big Momma's House, lol
It could be argued that Mike now has a bigger direct influence on Hollywood than Drew Barrymore has ever had. And Rich Evans is now being hailed as a messenger from God.
I can attest to the fact that it was, indeed, an empty threat. Everybody is jostling to assert their importance on film sets, and the Crowd supervisor is way too low on the totem pole to exchange words with the director.
Even a lot of producers (especially on billion dollar projects) never get to personally talk with the director. He'll give instructions to his five main producers who go talk to their five producers who go talk to department heads who go talk to set designers/costumers/etc
this is the magic of RLM, they're talking about the most boring movies and then suddenly Mike will say the wildest story about being an extra and wanting to throw up on Drew Barrymore.
@@korganrocks3995 they always have a story up their sleeves that they haven't told. There used to be a lot of movies produced in Chicago around the 90s, so it wouldn't surprise me that they were extras in other movies.
I was an extra for an Italian-Brazilian co-production about WWII. We filmed a scene during the Winter in a remote mountain village near where I live in Northern Italy, freezing well below 0 celsius. The gave me authentic German WWII shoes from a museum, 3 sizes too big and with a tip made of iron. I used to ski pretty often, so I thought my technical underclothing could suffice to keep me warm. Unfortunately I learnt on my expenses that a perfectly fitting ski boot is much better at keeping you warm than a oversized 70 years old shoe. I had to rush to the hospital when I got back home, almost losing the little finger on my right foot. Overall, I remember it being a horrible experince, also because most of the crew was from Rome and couldn't keep their mouth shut about how much their f****g city was so much better then the set we were filming in (yeah, no shit, Sherlock. Rome is so much better then Enemonzo, thanks for the insight) and how much we were provincial (despite none of us coming from that location).
Its good to know that Mike and Rich know the absolute pain it is to be an extra. What they didn't mention though is all the people who have made a career out of being extras, and think they are real movie actors because of it
I like to imagine Rich Evans having a great time waiting for the casting guy to call back to tell him tomorrow's day schedule and discovering what really happened just now.
What makes this even funnier is that the director of Never Been Kissed is Raja Gosnell, meaning Mike and Rich likely pissed off the guy that would go on to make such classics as Big Momma's House, the live action Scooby-Doo movies, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and the live action Smurfs movies
I took an extra job once as a teenager so I could hang out with this girl I was seeing who lived an hour a way. Out of the 8 hour day, we maybe spent 40 minutes together. I was unlucky because they decided to put me directly in front of a scene where the actor had to run past me, and then get confronted by a group of clowns. So instead of just standing around, I had to mildly act (which I'm not an actor at all). They paired me up with some random girl and we had to pretend to talk for probably about 6 hours in a freezing barn. Was almost cool getting a sample of how a production runs, but I was so cold it was ultimately miserable. I did make a 150 bucks, though, so that's something.
@@caesarpizza1338 It was an episode of a tv show called R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour. The episode was called "Afraid of Clowns". I've actually never watched the episode in full and I don't know anything about the show. I did used to read Goosebumps as a kid though, so it's kind of fun having been in a production related to his work. I tried watching it at one point but couldn't find a copy with good picture quality. If it ever pops up on netflix I'll finally give it a watch.

Yeah, except for Drew Barrymore and (checks Wikipedia) ....John C. Reilly and James Franco (?!), pretty much everyone else's careers petered out by 2008. The only reason to know who David Arquette is anymore is because the "Scream" franchise is a zombie that won't die.

In the June 2021 episode of the web series Best of the Worst (2013) (Episode 101), comedian and host Mike Stoklasa revealed that he and fellow host Rich Evans were extras in the carnival scene shot at Chicago's Navy Pier. Stoklasa was one of the carnival goers on the chair swing ride while Evans was paired with a stranger walking along the pier. As filming dragged on, Stoklasa was on the ride for two hours and became nauseous from a combination of subpar craft service food and the high speeds of the chair swing ride. Both were scheduled to return the following two days to resume filming, but Stoklasa called the casting director and refused to return.
Respect for Mike Stoklasa who suffered nausea for two hours on that swing, he sacrificed a lot for the art of cinema and for there to be no continuity errors in the one second that the distant blurry crowd of extras is seen in the film.
2:17 funny thing is, the singer for Negative Approach claims to indeed have vomited on Drew Barrymore. It was the height of the grunge scene, there was some party where Drew Barrymore was dating some rockstar, he introduced her to the Negative Approach singer, and then vomited all over her because he had too much to drink. Apparently his reaction to the situation was “whatever.”
My brother came to home from college after watching this episode and spent the entire time trying to start fights about Drew Barrymore with me and my dad and I didn't understand where this new found hatred had come from until I watched the same episode. Thanks for Drew Barrymore pilling my brother he is now unsufferable to talk to about any movie that has Drew Barrymore associated with it
I'm always bothered by the continuity errors in my romantic comedies, but Never Been Kissed took things to a whole other level, what's with that pile of puke on Ms Barrymore's right shoulder, the film cuts and it's there, an other cut and it's gone... one cut and Mike has obviously finished vomiting, the next scene he is just preparing to do it... an absolute mess.
I saw Never Been Kissed in the theater on my 16th birthday. I was trying to get with a girl I was madly in love with...and all I wanted was a magical "16th birthday miracle". Yeah, I ended up having a great time with her... but who knew years later I'd find out the real miracle was unknowingly seeing Rich Evans on the big screen! Sorry Jenny, but Rich has retroactively stolen my heart
The food in the UK was pretty decent but the cattle thing is pretty much the same. I remember The Ring director wanting to do like 72 takes in a studio with no aircon where I was dressed as bear beating up a rabbit and him taking off my head and telling me very good, again like 15 times.
