If both Pittsburgh and Jacksonville win their respective games, then Buffalo either wins in Miami and clinches the 2nd seed, or they miss the playoffs entirely. What a week this will be...

I love that we are in the final week, and there are still so many possible scenarios for so many teams. So many teams still having to scrap to get in. I hate it when in late season the playoff roster is a foregone conclusion, and a lot of games are then meaningless. For the past two weeks, I have been witching teams I don't even like just because their outcome affects my team. I think it's great for football to come down to the wire like this.

There has to be a Chiefs at Bills playoff game this year. The NFL needs to make sure this happens.

Only scenario I know of that was crazier than the Bills this year was the '02 Dolphins, who had a chance of being every single seed in the AFC (1 through 6) or missing the playoffs entirely. They got eliminated, losing to the Pats in OT

I remember in like 07 or something, the eagles with Jeff Garcia had to have like 5 teams win or lose and Bruce gradkowski won with the bucs I think to get us in. I love the last week of the nfl for these scenarios lol

Rich there is no way the Bills will lose Sunday night. The Dolphins are to banged up of a team defensively and limited offensively. Tua is a one read QB. Almost 50 % of the passes go to him. Double up on Tyreek and make Tua throw the ball. He is not Marino.

With the best regular season record in all four major sports typically don't win the championship game. In fact, those teams usually make early exits.

This is GREAT! Parity in the NFL. No one team is a shoe-in and no one team is a guaranteed loser.

Let’s eliminate all the confusion and just allow every time in the league into the playoffs thereby extending the season many more weeks to generate more money for the NFL.

All this boils down to the fact that the NFL finally has the parity in the league that they always wanted.

I'd like to know how many scenarios there would be if you take all the games where a tie in the final score factors in.........

Here's a thought: Buffalo's coach McDermott is probably spending a little time this week thinking about how he wants to play it if the game vs. Miami goes to OT. Obviously a win is preferable than a tie. However, if the game goes to late enough in OT, he has to consider the possibility of playing for the tie - which would get them the 6th seed - and not risking missing the playoffs entirely in a desperate attempt to win. Not sure at what point I think they'd want to do it, and it's a pretty remote possibility of happening at all, but just a thought.

I'm a Denver fan,but Buffalo at #3 is ridiculously high...total overeaction to a few wins over bad teams. If they get in they are dangerous-but putting them #3 is ludicrous

Eisen personalises takes which are widely held by most sports pundits and by repetition and self reference attempts to convince everyone that they were totally his own. I imagine the trick works on those who don't keep up with the sport's reporting, or otherwise have a poor attention span and retention of information. It's a smart tactic.

It's odd for a team to be the #2 seed if they win and not in the playoffs if they lose, it shows how one division really owned the AFC and the other two divisions who would have the #3 and #4 seeds weren't near that level. If that scenario happens, it's basically a playoff game for the Bills. It's like being the #7 seed going into the #2 seed. It will be great for NBC, so much drama.

All that doesn't mean nothing as long as the Bills win. But you're right about all the other teams not wanting them to be in. I think Kansas City is going to surprise a lot of you guys.

I’ve been feeling the Bills for 2-3 weeks now. It just seems like this is the year they have no expectations bc of how their season’s gone. They need to come in as the hot team not a team that has been on top all season.

This mess happens when a lot of teams, good ones in fact, go on losing streaks, and letting the doors wide open for anyone else.

BUF@MIA will be decided by who wants this one more. BUF has bullied MIA for years and a loss could eliminate the Bills from the playoffs. Their motivations are clear. MIA is in the midst in their usual end of season psychodrama. For half a century, MIA has struggled with their version of the Red Sox Curse of the Bambino - call it the Curse of the Perfect Season, collapsing during the home stretch due to lack of execution and injuries. If they make the playoffs due to earlier wins, its almost always one and out. In the pair of SBs they made in the early 80s a generation ago, they lost. This season presents the same injury issues and the past four games have featured one convincing win agains NYJ, edging DAL and two self-inflicted collapses against TEN and BAL. SNF is a put up or shut up game. If MIA loses at home after pissing away a three game division lead, I am certain they will go one and out @KC. Same old cursed Dolphins. On the other hand, if MIA wins and takes the AFCE and the #2 seed, the Dolphins will play at Hard Rock (where they rarely lose) until they lose, proceed to an AFC Championship game @BAL, or the Super Bowl if BAL fades again in the playoffs. I cannot pick the Dolphins to lose because it is bad karma. However, I cannot pick them to win, either. I have seen this movie too many times before. The Dolphins need to show me on Sunday night they have exorcised their curse.

nobody wants to include ties in the scenarios but the Bucs have one scenario where they could be the 7 seed. it's a very rare chance that the Bucs/panthers game end in a tie but if that happens and the Packers lose and the Seahawks lose and the Saints beat the Falcons, then New Orleans win the division and at 8-8-1 Tampa Bay gets the 7 seed.

While watching this, I thought of a phrase from baseball that always struck me as funny... when a team "clinches a tie", i.e. for a division championship... because then they would at least get in a playoff (163rd) game against the team they're tied with to decide the division championship. Of course, now a days, MLB doesn't play playoff games anymore, so it's all moot. But just the thought of a team "clinching" something but then how much is it really worth? Don't think anybody ever popped the champagne corks after "clinching a tie", or at least they shouldn't have.

If Buffalo wins this game. There isnt a single AFC team that wants that smoke in the next round.

I don't think it's a slam dunk that the Rams beat 49ers with they're backups. It could be Dallas Rams in the 1st round and as funny as it sounds the Rams may be gunning for this . Mathew and Kelly Stafford have said they didn't care for the 2pt conversion call against the Lions . Idk it's not likely that the Rams lie down but it sure stinks of that.

Need to go back to a 14 game schedule, so the players aren't beat all to hell in the post season. Also, get rid of instant replay altogether, and allow only 2 Wild Card teams per conference. Everything is ridiculous and overblown now.
