Rich Eisen joins Brock and Salk to discuss what the Seahawks identity will be this year, and what could happen to Michael Penix this year at the draft. Listen to Brock and Salk, weekdays from 6am to 10am on Seattle Sports 710am!
lol were not gettimg a qb this year and most likely trading down unless bowers, latii , edgerinn cooper falls to us. our oline was banged up last year amd is not that bad we got to good tackles , olu is gonna be good at center , i expect bradford to improve in his second year at guard and we signed a few other guards. we need to add depth to line backer and the defenisve line . defense is what is important in this draft for the seahawks
? Outside of one Guard spot our O line starters are set for next 3-5 years our o line is fine lol Geno threw for 4k yards 30 td just two years ago with this same o line. Geno just isnt the man hes avg we need a young new QB who can be on cheap deal for 5 years and let us spend everywhere else and compete
Salk you are 100% on them getting a QB. Geno definitely is not the guy. He ranked almost last on 3rd down conversions and in the red zone. Fans can only use the offensive line wasn’t good for so long until reality hits. Sam Howell has as many picks a touchdowns. They must draft a quarterback if there’s one available.
Salk - quit this ridiculous QB hunt. Geno can play, and GM loves Howell. Howell is coming to be our QB to develop. Look at 2021. Of the top five guys - Lawrence is the only one still on his original team - and THEY ARE NOT GOING TO RE SIGN HIM unless something drastically changes this season.
It's radio, so gotta get the spicy words out there to generate buzz. But fully agree, this QB hunt the Salk is after is wild. Geno is a great bridge for us if we are high on a 24 year old Howell. Who has as Rich is saying, had a year in the show. Let them marinate more than tossing them to the side. The nfl really loves to churn QBs
Salk is so Effing annoying!!! Nothing the Seahawks do is a good mood. Between him bending over for JJ McCarthy and trying to trade DK makes him look as stupid as he sounds!
The way things are going any one or more of the QBs drafted this year could be available in a couple years for an easy trade just like fields and howell.
LBs. Definitely need to shore up the LB room in a mad hurry. They're going to need lockdown CB play so the safeties can play up to help the young LBs when they blow assignments and miss tackles.
I been telling people that Penix is Warren Moon. Remember when folks were saying Levis could go at #2? All smokescreen. The fact people are not talking about Penix is a sign he is valued.
While I like Penix and want the Hawks to take him. Teams really are scared off of him because of his medicals. Same goes for players like Payton Wilson. The medicals will make players drop even if they are healthy.
@@DanlowMusic The medical concerns are real. What make s me feel better is the fact that not only did healed, he showed real ability to adapt and play in a way that keeps him healthy. He learned that lesson and adapted. That is what you have to do to play in that league and he learned. That, and he does the work and doesn't hang his head. That is the guy I want in my locker room.
What Seattle has done in FA is make to where we can go into the draft without any obvious needs, besides Left Guard, and we are free to take best player available. That is the secret to our last two drafts, which most of the fans feel has been good. If Penix is there at 16 and John feels like he is the BPA, he will take him. If we have 3 or 4 players we think are really good we probably will trade back and try to get a second round pick out of it. Gone are the days where we reach for a player because of need (Collier). My guess is we go Guard at 16, or Bowers if he falls, or trade back.
Except that Collier pick wasn't the best player at that position. He was actually looked at as a 3rd rounder for that draft. So he was a reach. And their were DE's available that were rated higher. But I agree with what you are saying.
the NFL needs to alter the process to allow newly drafted QBs to get more reps, whether in practice or whatever. The current system is hurting the product. There aren't a lot of good QBs in the NFL right now
lol@Rich's mentioning WR as the second position group Seattle might consider at 16. WR is literally the last thing they could possibly need in the first round. Bit of a slip-up. He's right about Penix's struggles in the CFP final, though.
Hard to believe at this point last year, Bryce Young was the consensus number 1 pick in a deep draft. I have doubts about all the prognosticators this year
It is a shame that Penix won't be available to us at #16. He is the perfect fit for our wide receiver room, and for our offense. The ability to truly stretch the field would be a game changer. And...using the pass to effectively run the ball just seems to be a golden opportunity. I know John and Mike know what they are doing...so much more that I do. So...no sweat, right?
Malik McDowell, Dee Eskridge, LJ Collier, Darrell Taylor, Rashaad Penny and Germain Ifedi were all high Seahawk draft picks. Pretty poor picks. Let’s hope Pete was the problem because if these were all John Schneider, nothing is going to change.
Thank God neither Brock nor Salk are the Seahawks GM 😂😂 In John & Mike we trust 💙💚it’s exciting to see all the changes and moves. Howell will keep Geno on his toes 👏🏻👏🏻.
Everyone wants a great QB but unless you get lucky in the draft you have to get lucky that a top 10 QB wants to be with another team and still spend so much money to get them.
I got the Seahawks making it to the playoffs beating out Cowboys and Bears since Mike MacDonald will be play calling they got pieces they probably draft either OL or DL either or I won’t be surprise but this season for the Seahawks if Geno Smith can develop to be more consistently and how good Mike Macdonald play calling will be but overall I got the Seahawks making the playoffs
Seahawks special teams will truly be short-bus "special" if your new ST "coach" actually is given the reigns to COACH that squad. The guy you hired is there because of last name only. If you doubt this, watch the Michigan / Bama Rose Bowl from January. What an absolute disaster from start to finish on Michigan special teams. He was hired as huge favor to the Harbaugh family by MacDonald. No doubt Mike knows this and yet once again Jay Harbaugh will be pulling in a salary for which he is not actually doing the coaching.
I think Penix will be available- and I think he is the perfect selection for Seattle. Geno has 1-2 years left then it comes down to Howell vs. Penix competition as the future QB. Howell is essentially a Lock replacement and backup option in case they don’t get one of these QBs.
Take that 16th pick and draft a long term can't miss left tackle! Sam Howell is much better than people think! Build the O-line and D-Line that is where winning games starts! POMO
The Seahawks are in the perfect John Schneider Don’t Give a f*** Position. All good things come their way at 16. All they have to do is patiently wait and stay on the phone with eager beavers behind them that want to move up. They then get to specify certain players as off-limits with that team’s written permission while gaining an extra 4-6th round pick. I like the Husky guard with the exotic name.
Rich need to do his homework it's not like McDonald has the same concept of how to play defense than Pete did .It should be obvious to anyone that knows just a little about football...
If John sees a QB he likes he should take him. Geno is here for 1 more year and then he’s gone. Give Howell a guy to compete with. Next years class is horrible in comparison.
Stop focusing solely on QBs for this draft we have our QBs they're done they're set let's get other positions taken care of.. preferably on the line, either side.. Geno is could and Sam could develop into gold
Brock sooo good. Salk soo bad. We don’t like Salk long term. Looking to trade him. Eisenhower hated hard on Pete. We remember. If you guys think Penix or Nix could ever be half as good as Geno…. You are cut.
I love Geno and have been and advocate for him but honestly he did terrible. He couldn’t score or find wide open receivers. Sam Howell is a far drop from Drew Lock. Might be a great idea to get a good QB in the Draft to learn from Geno a season.
rich eisen once again proves he does not know ball, the defense and offeense will be tremendously better. Also, we aree not taking penix 😂😂 Nor is penix gonna be a top 20 pick
