I will never understand how this song can be listened like a 1000 times and never get old...this chords, this lyrics, this melody...everything fits so great. And once you get the meaning, well, it is really bitter and sweet at the same time

I really dislike the Stones (their manager or whoever) for doing that to him. The lyrics were written by him so was the music...except that tiny orchestral part (not even written by the Stones) which he sampled. This live version showed that "Bittersweet Symphony" actually doesn't need the sample at all. It is a fantastic song and will always be one of my all time favorites.

Hearing this first at 20 and then 22 years later, man, the song is suddenly heavy with meaning and relevance.

A great song? The test, is how good it sounds with you and just an acoustic. Richard proves this 100% this is all about the human condition. Richard had his finger on the pulse when he wrote this. Never mind the strings or The Rolling Stones. The song stripped down reveals how great the song is, and yeah, the lyrics are brilliant. We all live this one folks.

This has been one of my favorite songs since I saw the original video on 120 Minutes on MTV in the USA back in late 1997. Funny how one song can change your life forever. I love this song much and would like to thank Richard Ashcroft for that. What an artist.

I was a rave kid in the '90s. Then this came along and EVERYTHING changed (made me buy a damned guitar for a start!). An actual life changer of a track - legendary af and there'll never be anything to surpass this to my mind. And he still sounds fresh as hell, one of the GOAT
