This version must be the one from the last tour in 2008. I love all the elements and noises. The strength and vibration of each note is captured. exalts all the soul
They're not one of those so-called musicians who write craps. You know, those who: "Hey, I wanna hook up." "OMG that's a good lyric line. Just repeat that over and over, then let's put some autotune and get Skrillex to do the melody. And wear ridiculously weird outfits. We'll get a shitload money." The Verve (and Oasis), unlike them, they are true about their music. They don't only have talent in composing melody, they also have message behind what they sing. And kids, THIS IS MUSIC.
This song is a constant reminder of my drug days how I broke out of that mold nd found ME again!!! We've all been down that road whether it's an addiction to drugs or alcohol or jus every day life you going thru.... 6 yrs clean after 15 yrs of jus being lost nd fighting with myself wit drugs.....
Yes I believe he might have the very best voice in existence. I Grew up in 70s'. Can't believe I didn't know of him. That's what drugs will do unfortunately. He has the most beautiful voice I ever heard and the compassion and energy he has make him one of a be kind. Didn't think anyone could take me away from Eric Clapton....and he saved my life on many a dark. And he didn't sell out! You can tell the difference between ones who did and didn't. 99 present did and 1 didn't. I love you Richard Ashcroft!!! Him and Lynnard Skinard! Awesome you r an inspiration.
We have been down because of sickness and still are not on the level we want to be. This briljant song (and also e.g. Two Stories Wide - Willie Nelson) are helping to stay tuned and look forward in stead of back. And so is my new job, as a busdriver. Thanks, (The) Verve!
The best arrangement this song could ever deliver. I love how the bass has been tweaked throught the track. This is the best version of this classic by a country mile. Amazing!!!!!x
I first heard this song (thanks to my big bro) in 97 when I was 14... I still love it as much today as I did back then. My all time number 1 favourite song❤
I watched this live when it was broadcast on the Red Button. I watched it 3 times on iPlayer in the following week and it was removed. I didn't think I would ever see this again as The Verve and the BBC are very protective about their work. The whole set was amazing. Just simply awesome.
This beautiful song is kind of underappretiated becouse it is a very well known one. Everbody recognizes it but few actually listen to it, to what it says, even fewer understand.
This song is so perfect and really seemed to be a defining era moment of 1997 & the 90’s with its poetry and the imagery belonging to that moment in time. But I like though that it is still used today and is still relatable.
seen this band in a hall attached to a nuns convent in Dublin in 1997, I think it was the week that this song hit no.1. The best gig I have ever been to by far. The sweat was rolling down the walls and the bar staff were on the tables. I kid you not
I m a Genxr in the U.S., and I have to tell ya. These guys are like the Larry Bird/ Magic Johnson of British rock. I ts gonna be a while for someone to top their coolness
Perfection, merci beaucoup pour ce post, Richard Ashcroft purely rocks the earth of the ground ! Please come back on the scene, we need your talent buddy !
this might be the greatest song in the history of the world This here is the 90’s anthem. Before technology and millennials made everything complicated. As someone who grew up during the 90's this music is like a soundtrack for my own life...
