Burton has such a fascinating face, one that radiates intelligence, and such a gorgeous voice, commanding and resonant, a voice that promises it will deliver beauty and whispers that it can reveal secrets.
Very true but I think he would have appreciated it, particularly as he had framed and hung his nominations. This indicates they weren't meaningless to him, in my opinion.
I'm sure if it were down to the film viewing public, Richard Burton, Micheal Caine, Peter O'toole, Richard Harris ALL would have won Oscars at some point in their great works. Instead it's down to some invisible Hollywood fat cat commitee to decide on these things. Completely fixed and worthless, and I would tell Burton so if he were alive and sober enough to listen to me. @@carolannemckenzie3849
Richard Burton had a God given talent which is ironic given he was an atheist. I hope he found the peace that seemed to allude him in this lifetime. What a character and actor. He will never be forgotten and I pray that from some spiritually realm he can see the true impact and beauty of his gifts. Rest in peace RB. ❤️🙏.x
OMG, I LOVE THAT MOVIE, " WHERE EAGLES DARE." RICHARD BURTON AND CLINT EASTWOOD WERE FANTASTIC IN THIS MOVIE. THIS MOVIE KEPT YOU GLUED TO YOUR SEAT THE WHOLE TIME.
Regardless of burton and taylor's marital hype these two were wonderful together and did not get the true recognition they deserved as storytellers. I must say she was not one of my favorite storytellers but as i now watch her films i began to see a genuineness in her portrayal of the characters she become on screen. He of course was just brilliant as a storyteller. Yes he never won an oscar but his body of work lives on far greater than any oscar. I just saw them in the movie The Sandpiper and it really had an effect on me as there was a sadness that their marriage did not last as i believe she truly loved him. He died far too young and is buried in a local old cemetary in Switzerland not far from his home. Elizabeth could not even pay her respects at his gravesite because the local paparazzi would not leave her alone. All diamonds aside i do believe she would have stayed with him even without the diamonds and fame. I miss these legends of storytellers. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Coal mining families were generally large. He was 12th of thirteen. I was 13th of thirteen. His Mother died first My father died first. He had a academic mentor. I was self taught. He became famous for his acting. I, treaded the board, and a subject for the camera, but fame, like my father, l had none. Maybe he was right, all is timing, luck, but certainly...Hard work!!!
Burton and Sinatra I would say honestly this, when Burton talks and acts and Sinatra Sings you can't take your eyes of them as your memorised by them both.
I makes me sick to my stomach at how she ( E.T. ) expects to always and constantly be Glorified !!! I NEVER see Richard Burton ever doing that !!!!!!!!!
He was exceptionally good looking and he reminded me of my father. They were not interested in material stuff. They liked the knowledge books gave them. Yes like my father he was full of guilt. As he betrayed his working class principles by leaving his wife for a glamourous woman. I dont think he ended up liking Elizabeth Taylor he ended up despising her. He was the love of her life and I dont think she was.
What Claire Bloom is doing to Richard Burton, by getting & rubbing her hands all over his face, is something that I can't stand having being done to me. They need to keep their hands off of my face period.
Lauren you shouldn't blame Richard of that Outrageous Buying and Spending, because he's NOT the one that is acustomed to doing that. It happens to be E.T. who has been doing that all of her entire life, and she makes at least if not more, than 1 Million a Picture, or say Film.
When Richard was starting out: Theatre was the be all to end all in those days, and if you didn't speak *the Queens English* you could forget about becoming a professional. Michael Caine for instance, came up in a different era, much later - and was able to keep some soft traces of his Cockney origins, regardless of his theatrical CV. Which was an impressive CV, btw.
Richard Burton and Dean Martin are my two favorite Actors. Oh NO, are we going to have to put up with E.T. sticking her nose into his Interview, and monopolizing it, and taking over?! I've seen her do that too many times before on other peoples Interview and even of Richard Burton's.
He married her twice. They still talked up until his death. Alcohol abuse killed him too soon. Elizabeth Taylor didn't kill him. His addiction was a big part of why he died.
This dude Richard Burton aged horribly. How the hell does a legal guardian, 21 years his senior, end up looking barely 5 years older than Richard Burton? On top of that, the legal guardian lived longer than Richard Burton???
He had a strange relationship with his father: rather like his dad was an imp somehow spirted down to earth. I've not explored his relationship with his baby-factory producing mother.
I don't think he was amongst the greats of film acting, but probably was a remarkable stage actor. Other than Virginia Wolf I think his film acting range was not comparable to a huge list of others.
@michaelmagarian1081 Michael, indeed I have. Saw the play as well long before the movie. I don't find his performance memorable. Lot's of English actors could have done as good. I think Burton was an interesting man and had a beautiful voice. Other than Virginia Woolf I don't recall being as awestruck by any of his performances as I would have been by a Day- Lewis, Olivier, Hurt, Scofield, Kingsley and I could continue with a long list. He was probably more interesting on stage than film. I didn't realise until on this thread that he never won an Oscar but it sort of backs up my point.
There goes E.T. Again, Butting into Richard's Interview with Her Own Spiels and Objections, that were only asked to Richard. We would Prefer to Keep E.T. OUT of Richard's Personal Interviews. We Don't get enough of Only Him.❤ She Sticks Her Nose Into Every Interview That comes His Way, With Her Own Personal Comments, Instead Of Letting Him Answer The Questions Himself. We Are Sick Of It !!!!!!!!!
Sounds like you are simply jealous of their relationship which essentially lasted until he died since they still talked. Alcohol killed him indirectly, btw. She's dead. Be happy about it since it's clear you hate her.
@@chirelle.alanalooney8609She dead, dammit. She's been dead for nearly 13 years. Oh for the ET haters there is new book about them, Erotic Vagrancy. 😂
This was a documentary made by Tony Palmer after Burton's death, released to coincide with Melvyn Bragg's extensive biography of Burton published in 1988. It aired on Channel 4 in the UK and was accompanied by a short season of Burton's films - Nineteen Eighty-Four, Equus, the Spy Who Came in from the Cold, and Under Milk Wood. What bugs me is that, in all these years, nobody has been able to identify for me that bit of orchestral music between 2.00:3.50
Sadly, E. T. Selfishly Puts Untold Amounts Of Stress on Richard, Without Even Giving It A First Or Second Thought !!!!! It Always Has to be About Her And Her Wants !!!!!!!!
Huh?? Lol so funny. You act like this guy was a fucking saint! Did you not hear in the beginning how he was wanted to use ET for fortune and fame?? The guy had plenty of flaws himself
Why the hell does Claire Bloom keep putting her hands all over Richards face? I can't stand anyone putting their hands all over my face. Keep your hands to yourself, and off my face.
