He is truly awesome, just met him for the first time at Fan Expo Toronto 2018. His humor as Jack O'Neill really made Stargate a hit in my opinion. He is right the chemistry of all the major Stargate actors was just perfect. I could not imagine any other actors to do the same wonderful performance.
Maui Yuki Leilani Lee -I still love him. I’m 83. Currently watching my McGyver cd set from the very first show. Watched reruns when I still had cable TV. 🙂
My sister and I crushed hard on him in the 70’s when he was on General Hospital as Dr. Jeff Webber. Then as Mac in the 80’s he was in some great movies in the 90’s. So we are baby boomers. Such a sweetheart even now he has my ❤
I really like this guy, and he's played a big part in entertaining me over the years. He's a class act. To those who say time hasn't been kind to him, I'd say consider how many years he had to stay active, go to the gym, keep in shape for the show/character, and how much of a relief if was for him, when he didn't. I think he's allowed some time off from the gym, beer, steak dinners or whatever.
If i have million i invest all on a mcgyver tribute movie this guy help me some much when i was young i was sick and the only company i have was mcgyver. The bad thing about my life never met this guy...i love you richard you are greatest man in the tv world.
My television hero... but man, I'm surprised how he's gained weight. I just saw a SNL skit with him and McGrubber and I couldn't believe that was actually Richard, so sought out some more recent vids, like this one. Still an awesome guy!
That is interesting you said "due to steroids. Looking at him, I wondered if he was on medication. I knew he had many different major accidents. I've been on steroids and know from experience they do put weight on you. Sometimes you get that rounded "moon face" as my Dr, called it. The steroids just like puff you up. Anyway, he's always my hero.
From what I understand his extra weight is because of a skying accident, he was given steroids to help him walk again. That's where the extra weight came.
I am revisiting MacGyver right now, my favorite series as a child. I never really watched stargate. I have a feeling that shows like MacGyver that are packed with a lot of morality are not really there anymore. Anyway he comes across a little more arrogant then I would expect after reading his wikipedia page.
I thought Richard Anderson did the right thing, with making Oneill more comedic, because Til'c played the more the straight hard character, and I don't think it would have played out right if you had two characters playing it straight, and tough all the time. The only thing I would have liked to see is Oneill a smarter person. He dumbed the character down a little to much, because most of the generals in the US are higher educated and many have higher IQ's. You don't get to be a General for any reason.
