They were 1 year into the league, playing a completely foreign type of basketball, and it still doesn't address the woeful lack of shooting. I don't think it would've changed the outcome.

It's kinda weird that those players that he mentioned were willing to qualify for the Olympics but not compete at the Olympics the next year. I guess they didn't wanna go to Europe or something. That's the only explanation I can think of

No one mentioning that they played/had no outside shooters. They werent able to space the defence and had to shoot everything from the inside of the 3 point line. Plus it's impossible to win any tournament if Melo is on your team.

Anyone saying that Iverson and Duncan alone was enough need to shut up. The Olympics consist of the best of the best. Iverson and Duncan wouldn't even be enough to win a chip at home. This was the worst roster team assembled. USA 🇺🇸 got too cocky.

RJ wasn't with Team USA in 2002 when they lost in the World Cup at Indiana. While they dominated the FIBA America Cup the following year (with those players he mentioned), it was the same story for the '04 Olympics and it's not as if the system was any better for the '06 World Cup until now. They just have more unguardable players. Those select teams with guys who played in World Cup qualifying defend better and look like a legit FIBA Team than anyone USAB can pick from the NBA over an off-season.
