I had a cousin who raced Nascar in the late 50s through the early 60s named Jimmy Pardue. When Richard Petty won his first Daytona 500 in 1964, Jimmy finished 2nd. Jimmy sat on the pole for the 600 mile Charlotte race when Fireball Roberts had such a bad wreck and was burned so badly. That was in May 1964. Fireball succumbed to his injuries, dying on July 2nd 1964, Richards' 27th birthday. Then Jimmy was killed in a crash in Charlotte during a 10 lap tire test for Goodyear in 1964. Because of Jimmy, I developed a bit of a relationship with Richard, Lynda and Lee. They were undoubtedly some of the finest folks you could ever hope to meet. What you see is what you get. Common good ol' folks. I bugged them constantly for autographs lol. One day a journalist was talking to Richard and he asked Richard about his 7 Daytona 500 victories. Richard, with his wonderful smile said, Well, we lost some we should have won, but then again, we won some we should have lost so it all evens out. The journalist replied, Well Richard, win or lose, you're still the king. I couldn't agree more. Thanks Richard. #43🏁 Mike Pardue
I never met Richard. He is my all time favorite. I always liked Bobby. Great man! I got to meet him a few times and I met Davey once as well as Kyle. Funny how Bobby and Richard has a rivalry and yet those two were my favorite to watch
No one nicer than Mr Richard Petty, have talked with him several times at SEMA and was so impressed with his true interest in fans and his willing to talk one on one.
😭😭😭😢😢I know this happened a while ago, but this was really an intense video. I was really moved by this video, thank you for putting together such an excellent piece of work.
The King always took care of his family. He and his his wife were lucky to have each other. I bet Richard Petty could race tomorrow if he wanted. I was a kid and he was the reason I started watching Nascar.
Regardless of how a person likes, dislikes or simply doesn’t care about NASCAR as a sport, there is no escaping the fact that NASCAR people are a whole different breed of cat.
True ole country boy. Petty!!!!! No more Richard petty. True. American story!!!! Nice farm in trinity!!! Nice man mr petty. A mr butler I new at one time use to be on petty put crew!!!!
it was tough hearing about Adam i wonder if Kyle still has Adam's corvette sitting in the garage where he parked it several years later it was still parked in that spot & Kyle liked it to remain there.
Hot80s it'll prolly go to his newborn kid at some point Kyle and his wife Patti divorced, he's since remarried and is now having a fourth kid, well 3rd that's alive. Adam is sadly no longer with us, his other son Austin is involved with the victory junction gang, then I believe I can't remember if it's his son, or daughter Montgomery lee who is his youngest from patti.
The king is the best only one other like him and that was Dale Earnhardt loved Dave’s Allison also I had it backwards I thought Clifford dies in the helicopter but it was his dad a year later Clifford died during practise for a Busch race I believe it was the same weekend I was at a Michigan race in 1992 best fun I ever had being a nascar fan from Canada I got across I had a record so I had to sneak across of course you could not do that nowadays but the Allison’s had a real bad streak RIP at least you are in a better place you do not have to fight disease ther Davey was a good driver all the Allison’s were man that seems like yesterday my girl I had with me had a great time man I never saw a party like this in my life at least I got to go to one real nascar race and see the boy race the boy is what we called dale RIP Dale you are up ther with the pedal to the floor you and Davey all the good ole boys
It'd be really awesome if you could learn to add some volume so we can hear what's being said. On a different note, Charlie Chaplin would have LOVED this.
