Richard Simmons hasn’t been seen in public in the last 8 years and a new documentary is looking at his life and exploring the theories of what could have happened to the beloved motivational fitness instructor. The TMZ documentary is speaking to people closest to Simmons including Suzanne Somers, Dr. Phil and more. A few years before he went into seclusion, while visiting Access Hollywood, he became upset over a joke by Howie Mandel and was found crying backstage. "TMZ Investigates: What Really Happened to Richard Simmons?" premieres August 22 on FOX.

This video shows why. The End of the video where Richard is having a breakdown and they respond by following him around with cameras to catch him crying when he should be alone.. pure evil. I don't blame him for wanting to have a private life for once

My dad and uncle drove down to NOLA right after hurricane Katrina, after about 2 weeks of helping and passing supplies and just being extra bodies for the national guard, while coming back home they ran into Richard at the airport. They said he was such a much needed morale boost, but yeah just a Richard story I wanted to share not really even that interesting

As we age, especially if we don't have children, spouse, family, ect....no one to rely upon for help. Some tend to disappear from spot light, especially celebrities! Wishing Richard Simmons the best! He was the first fitness guru to help me lose weight and eat healthier. I recall sitting in front of TV with my fitness mat doing my stretching and breathing exercises along with Richard! God bless him. ❤️

Old news!!!! There was a very anticlimactic 5 or 6 part podcast that answered this 6 years ago! They investigated boyfriends, interviewed peers and family, went down the rabbit hole that he was held by his housekeeper. ( The truth is quite the opposite. He treats her like a queen and even makes her breakfast in the morning). In the end it came to this. His dogs died. He sunk into a funk. He realized that he had spent his life making other people happy, and realized he owed nobody else anything. That's it. It's almost a non-story. 6 hours of podcast, for that.

Richard I use to watch all your videos and I went from the chubby nerd to the sexy cheerleader. We get, hope your ok sometimes I think we all want to escape and disappear. The world can be a cruel place.
