I have bought different rocks from them several times and will order from them again soon. I would love to go there but I live in Florida and I am disabled and it is out of the question. But my brother and sister in law are going to make a trip out west and I hope to get them to go through that area and check it out and bring me some stuff back..I have been very happy with the rocks I have gotten from them.
Yeah, it’s a great place! They’ve had to hike their prices a bit, especially on the newer stock, but they are still so affordable. And they have so much to offer in rough.
Boy, a lot of stuff to trawl through there. It really is a strange combination of shopping and rockhounding. I wonder how they transport all of that stuff from all over the globe, it would seem to be too expensive. Amazing.
If you want good lapidary rough, I'd say we just touched the surface of what they have. We'll be going through there in April, Lord willing, so hopefully their new stock will be in. I still don't have any "dino dookie" to cut up. My grandsons would get a kick out of that. 😉
Wow you guys are the only ones there it seems. Hopefully you had a good experience. I’ve read some disappointing Yelp reviews regarding service last year. Not too far from there is the Polka Dot Agate Mine. You can dig your own Thunder eggs which are very unique looking and many have stalactites inside. The eggs are only $2 a pound. Other stuff is very reasonably priced and they often round down if you’re buying a lot of stuff. Great fun but I was there on a very wet and cold day. I imagine it’s even more fun when you aren’t drenched. They also have material there from other mines they own in the area. We got some beautiful jasper and agate. I like it when places sell local rocks vs stuff they bought online. Super nice guys there. I would highly recommend it. They also have night digging on the full moon of every month.
Got to go back to Richardsons recently and they have been working to really clean and sort. We got great service had a great time. We got to go to Polka Dot a couple of years ago and chisel agate out of the cliff, but haven’t dug their thunder eggs. Definitely sounds like a future rock hounding trip and video to me! Thanks for the info!
WOW! 🤩 That place looks awesome. I would love to go there someday. Where is it located exactly? Also did you notice the bears face on that first piece of pet-wood that was shown? Amazing...
Just saw your comment… sorry… this place is just north of Madras in the middle of Oregon. It is a few miles east, off of Hwy 97. I didn’t see the bear face, so I’ll have to watch for it.
Wow! What a lapidary paradise! My dream is to get something like this going in Missouri. I hope to have a property with druse quartz for people to dig and a shop like this. 🤷🏻♂️ I think it’s what I need to do ya know? Like somebody wants me to 🙏🏻👆🏼 Hope you’re having a blessed day. Rock on!
Sounds good! I think that’s how Richardson’s got started. They had agate and thunder-eggs that people could dig on their property and the shop grew from there. It was a well-known destination for years. Is Haunted Ridge for sale? 😉
