It was so awkward when he said people who call themselves fluid aren't fighting for the lgbt community because Antoni himself identifies as fluid! lol I bet he didn't know that.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I can't believe this author's beliefs are supported by anyone, no matter what your sexuality may be. The majority of his beliefs are absolutely bigoted! i dont think any straight person could say anything close to what this guy's saying so nonchalantly. Nor should they. This guy obviously feels that gay people are superior to straight people! I believe that everyone has the right to live their life however the please and be treated equally. This guy is saying that equality isn't good enough because being gay defines him and he feels that being gay makes him better than someone who is straight.....so much so that his own son knows that if he told him he was straight he would be a disappointment.

You totatlly dont understand what he actually means and I actually read his book. Its about how yes we should be proud and yes gay is beautiful, more so than straight in the sense that we dont let machoness or "male oriented" things define us but rather we embrace both sides of masculinity feminine and dont limit ourselves to a line like most straight people do. Its about embracing your own identity and being proud to be born the way you are in a world that doesnt accept you, wants to in most countries kill or 'cure' you. Gay people aren't superior no human being is better than another its the fact we in the gay culture are told to not be ourselves even by other lgbt members. The story is a letter to his son but its mostly about how the fact is even though society may seem safe for gay people it really isnt and there is a lot of conflict because the straight world is all that exists now due to religion and bigotry and hate. Hes proud that his son is out all the way because thats something many people cant do. I understand your perspective as it may seem from what he said that gay people are better but its based on the fact most all of us come from a place of hate from others and hate towards yourself that you have to know being your genuine gay self is better than being your fake straight self.

I will say his story isnt the best for most gay people because he was accepted by his family essentially immediately and was supported to explore the gay community

I guess I just consider being gay as someone's sexual preference. Everything about how a person acts or what they wear I just consider to be part of their personality. For example, my favorite color is hot pink, I have long hair which I sometimes wear kids barrettes in, i almost always dress up as a female character for any Halloween event, and I even prefer to wear long hippie skirts around the house and neighborhood. I'm married with 2 kids and dont find men the least bit attractive, because I'm not gay. Don't u think that it would be stereotyping to assume I was gay just because of those things?

@@cryptotronic7908 The lgbt is more so an entire culture and one could argue that being straight is also because it is your sexual preference but it very much is deeper to the point of who you love and you love them. There is a difference between wearing long hippie skirts for fun or wearing drag because it allows you to express yourself.

@@legalrhymes6282 I do understand it absolutely has everything to do with who you love, I just don't understand why if a person loves someone of the same sex they are automatically expected to adhere to the same norms & behaviors as every other person with a same sex partner? it just seems like that would just cause exclusion. You and I could have the exact same morals and values and a million things In common, but according to the author, he makes it seem as if none of that matters and the most important thing that defines me is not the content of my character, but instead which type of hole I put my dick into? that just doesn't seem right to me. there's so much more to a person than who they are attracted to! I just hope there aren't people out there that are feeling excluded just because their lifestyle doesn't fit the cookie cutter stereotype of a gay man! I believe everyone deserves compassion and respect equally, even if they dont adhere to the author's expectation of how a gay man ought to feel or behave. I think he should live his life any way that he wants, but it seems to me that he should be encouraging others to do the same, not encourage or expect them to live the way he thinks somebody who is gay should act. everyone deserves to live the life they love and not worry if their lifestyle doesn't check all the boxes of the stereotypical gay man. Thank you for having this civilized discussion with me. in my opinion our civilization needs more people with different views coming together to learn from each other rather than identifying people's differences and using them as an excuse to push them away. i hope you enjoy the rest of your evening
