Richmond Green/ Hill - Fujifilm X-H2S 6K 3:2 Test Shots

Filmed for the Fujikina event in New York, which I was speaking at but will also be used in my future review, which will have natural sound added.
This was mostly shot 6K 3:2 open gate at 30fps converted to 25p and with the 150-600mm F5.6-8 with a couple of shots using the 10-24mm F4 at 10mm.
A couple of shots, especially the 100fps 4K bowling shot, are a bit soft due to having a variable ND at 600mm, which is not a good idea; you need fixed strength NDs for such an extreme focal length.
Filmed on Richmond Green and Richmond Hill in London.

Nice! Totally obsessed with the 3:2 open gate coming from this camera. Having full vertical view and no 16:9 horizontal bars feels game changing and super immersive. I don't know why so few cameras allow this. I just might switch back to Fuji just to shoot in this aspect ratio (at 6.2K and in ProRes nonetheless). Very unique, can't wait for the full review!

@@philipbloom totally agreed, not comparable to Sony or canon yet. But the flog2 is amazing pared with MK fUJINON lenses, sweet mix!

@@nickrstic it’s mostly down to the inability to assign the settings for video AF to an assignable button; nor can they go in the Q menu. Plus in video you can’t select which face to focus on if there are more than one. Not used with the MK-X lenses yet.

In my professional Photography I use the Fuji film simulations all the time. Now, as I am getting more serious with video, I appreciate it even more that complicated color-grading is not always necessary ... :-) Your ETRENA footage looks super nice.

Thank you, Philip! Cannot wait for your insides and verdict. I’m looking at this camera as my potential main video camera, as I have X-t3 (witch then would be my photo only option) and couple of xf lenses (10-24, 18 f1.4, 33 f1.4, 55-200), and do not want to go for even more expensive full frame options with superior AF systems like Sony or Canon. 2.5k is a stretch for me. I want it to be great :) Hope to see your review sooner then later. Thanks again. God save the Queen 🇬🇧🇱🇹❤️

can the 100mbps and 50mbps bit rates hold up to a nice image quality when shooting 6.2K 3:2 open gate? mostly to upload to social media so I could save a lot of HDD space when recording on lower bit rate. could you do a test? thanks!

That’s too low a bitrate for 6.2k. Cannot recommend it.

It’s still happening. I’ve not been able to do any filming for a while as you can see from the number of videos I’ve put out. I’ve made one in four months and that was a struggle.

I rushed right over; because its good to see something BLOOM in the fall! Philip: Update your Mavic 3 wishlist, we got more "stuff" - no Tripod Mode yet. 😢 - I think the 3 is too sporty and can't be tamed! Freewell deliver split ND Filters with 3 stops difference between Cameras, however, and many would love your thoughts on them. Jake Sloan had good outcomes. 👍

I found that the 150-600 is surprisingly good as a video lens. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the camera and also perhaps that lens for video too.

Yep it’s good, it just AF control is tricky with this camera; like that first slow motion cricket shot. It focused on everyone’s face one after the other, they need to let you choose your subject.

@@philipbloom you can change which face is selected with the joystick but yes that’s annoying. Found it to be a little stickier after firmware 1.03 so make sure you’re up to date. 120fps was useless with AF before that update as well.

@@philipbloom Yes in video. However I'm now wondering to myself if that only works in certain focus target modes. I've switched faces that way with whatever Fuji calls the entire area focus but don't believe I've tried that with a focus box. I just got back from a trip but I'll unpack my camera tomorrow morning and verify

@@philipbloom sorry for the delay but just tried it and it actually works in both multi and area modes. I usually use multi mode though because it's weird to be moving the focus box around in area when you're changing faces.

Am sure you can see it’s now. I’ve only made half a dozen videos since then. I filmed in NY with it but my back couldn’t cope, it’s stopped me filming properly since March last year. It will still happen, be it will be a long term review.

This camera is only good for tripod use, if you even just try to move the camera slightly, the IBIS will wreck your footage.

Huh? Have you used it? I shot handheld all day yesterday and it was great. The rolling shutter is so improved you can handhold without IBIS. But if you do use it you just need to know how to use it.

@@philipbloom this is exactly what I like about the camera. Almost no rolling shutter . Using it handheld whiteout ibis is like Alexa, giving it a steady image and a lot of dynamic range.
