Rick Dees on the Weekly Top 40!!! Used to be a favorite show in Kampala very Sundays 12:00-16:00hrs on 91.3 Capital FM in between 1995-2005! What a show that was.......
I grew up with Rick Dees on 102.7 KIIS FM Los Angeles in the 80s. Oh man, he's sorely missed! Loved his Cast of Idiots and all of his characters like Willard Wiseman. Rick is radio GOLD.
It's so good to finally put a face to the name that has literally always been at she top of my tongue for years, I think it's been a 20 years affair what an amazing voice he has, will keep on keeping on... Rick Dees and the weekly top fourtys YEAH
Watching a "Roseanne" rerun tonight and Rick Dees is guest starring. Too funny. I miss Rick Dees. I used to listen to his top forty show all the time. He was so funny, and he had a great voice, and personality. Great DJ.
August 1988 at KIIS-FM and again in 1991 at ABC-TV on Prospect when he was doing "Into The Night Starring Rick Dees." Rick's a very gracious guy; down-to-earth and very hard-working. And his sense of humor is a lot like mine. His in-studio guest the morning I was at KIIS was Richard Marx, when the latter's star was still on the rise. Richard and I posed for a picture, and I still have it.
That mixer is a custom made mixer especially for him. He takes it wherever he goes. He doesn't like slide faders. So he had this mixer made with the old RCA knobs on it. But everything under it is up to date tech perfect.
Good morning Rick Dees, why did you retire Willard Wiseman? Do you remember me, from many years ago, we met in the Town and Country Mall where the Good Earth Restaurant was, and Nautilus aerobics Plus. We went next door to the good Earth, and we had a snack together. It was a pleasure. I was the guy with the big forearms, I was a piano mover in those days. Get back on the air you still have something left, in that tank of yours. You're on here in southern Utah on 98.9, but your shows are from the 1980s. Get back on the are you Alta Cocker. LOL. And bring Willard Wiseman!!
Interesting...no, I never heard that, but it doesn't surprise me as I don't think Rick ever picked up that habit...he looks waaaaay too good. While he *does* look a little older (I think he turned 62 this year), he's a really young-looking 62. I think that's a testament to the clean lifestyle he lives.
Dees is still Dees the "last DJ" Tom Petty sang about. Howard? The last administration got him off terrestrial. Imus? after the '80s sold out to corporations & politicians but runs big charity. Ron Lundy, RIP - statesman of the air along with Harry Harrison.
