Yep, it turned out later she had the flu but yes, she wasn’t feeling well and hung in there long enough to do this ONE take and it actually made the album becoming a classic.

SLOW JAM - Refers to an R&B ballad or slow song. The literal phrase was coined in the 80's by the R&B group Midnight Star, who had a hit single with the same name. It is definitely a song the two ofr you should react to. Slow Jamz can also refer to the era when DJ's used to play slow songs in the clubs or house parties to give a brother a chance to sharpen his conversation skills with the ladies and to take a break from all that fast ass dancing.

Yes!!! At the 2004 BET Awards, they put on quite the show with this song. And if you haven't seen it, watch it. Rick James clears up any misunderstandings about who he is at the end. RIP you two amazing people. 💕

Thigh high boots was the thing back then. Everyone wore them. I saw Rick & Teena perform this live on tour. Luther Vandross was the opening act (he only had 1 hit at the time). A slow jam is a song that makes you want to slow dance.

RIP our beautiful Teena Marie - we miss you babe. Teena was definitely the real deal. This is one of the greatest baby making love songs. Yes, I would call it a slow jam. No, can't vibe with this on the intercom in a restaurant. Until you've loved someone so hard and you know it can't work - but you both want to be together so bad, but you can't and you're torn into a thousand pieces - you really can't feel this song. And to think Rick James discovered Tina Marie. All that voice in that little woman. As a producer he knew talent we are forever owed a great debt to him in the music he himself sang plus all the music she provided because of him. She was a white woman in the R&b industry that could not have been easy but her true soul came out. I was a teenager when they were famous and I would dance to all their music. It was always my favorite music
