Man Rick James voice was one of a kind..Haven’t heard a Vocalist like that in generations..Tina Marie’s voice was magnificent as well, but in combination they made magic🙏🏿..Rest in peace to both🙏🏿
I can't listen to this my favorite reminds me of my Ex girlfriend miss her said something made her mad i am still upset with myself never forgive me never forgive myself
Lady T is R&B royalty! You've got to get with her solo stuff! You'll be in for quite a ride! We loved and still love our Lady T! R.I.P. Teena and Rick.
even when they weren't together, they were.... they had that deep love for one another, transcendent of a mere relationship! As for songs... Lady T gotta love Ooh lalala, Behind The Groove, Portugese Love, Out On a Limb, If I were a Bell, Work It, I'm a Sucker for your Love,
Young ppl aren't ready for this song. You only truly understand it after multiple heartbreaks and after life beats you down a few times. Teena Marie could've easily been a big Opera star. Her voice was that big. This song will have you catchin the Holy Ghost. Seeing her in person you're even more in shock. She was TINY. Not even 5'1. To this day I'm still shook that voice belonged to her.
40 years later and her voice still gives me all the feels! Listen to her songs Tune in Tomorrow and Sunny Skies. She also did a tribute to Smokey Robinson. It's amazing! They have another duet called Happy. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert, Whoa!
Your reaction to Teena had me rolling, LOL! She didn't want to post her picture on her initial albums because she wanted to be known for her talent first. When it was found out she was a white woman, no one cared, they loved her! She was amazing, may she RIP! Classic slow jam!
Grew up on this song. My mom loved this song too. Very important to black pop culture of the 1980s. Teena Marie is referenced in the black community. Basically, it goes unspoken, but she was an honorary black woman. I couldn't watch the whole thing. I lost my mom last year, and it's still pretty raw for me, and listening to this just hurts now. Thank you for this video, though.
Check out Teena Marie doing a live version of "If I Were a Bell." It was just her and her fantastic piano player on the Donnie Hathaway show. This woman was pure, raw, supernatural soul. I wish people would leave her skin color out of their comments ... just enjoy her pure soul and massive talent . Teena reached a level that very few have ever reached. She wrote, produced and played just about every instrument .... sort of a female Prince. But it was her stunning vocals that keeps impressing her die-hard fans. Truly, a one-of-a-kind. Make sure to check out out Deja Vu, and one of her final live performances, Still in Love, which was recorded at the Apollo Theater. Lady Tee still had it !!! May she R.I.P.
I think her greatest moment was when "Teena Marie Sings to Smokey Robinson", in which she sang "Ooo Baby Baby" right in front of him! It, along with the one Luther Vandross did in his tribute medley to Smokey, is the best cover of the song which was covered by more people than I can count!
Teena was truly one of a kind. No other could ever replace her. Song bird. Beautiful soul and and fantastic singer. Never received her props. Would not sell her soul. Number one female singing in all times. Just amazingly beautiful RIP MY SOUL SISTER. LOVE YOU SO MUCH. IT HURTS. 😘❤️❤️🙏🏿
Agree so many act like white people have no soul, stop plz, its whats inside not skin color she was white deal with it stop saying, she was black.... those who say that
The funny thing in hind sight, is now, many know Teena Marie for these types of vocals. The real surprise is for those who only knew Rick James for his upbeat stuff have to be his incredible ballad vocals.
Absolutely Love seeing this on your channel. If you want more Teena Marie, I suggest you take a listen to “Casanova Brown” or “ Dear Lover”.🖤 These are the songs that I played to get my now hubby hooked on her. Most from my generation are more familiar with “Lovergirl”, but I prefer her slower tempo songs. Shout out to your grandmother!
omg when I heard you say it was one of your "grandmothers" favorite songs, I truly believe it was the first time I actually realized how old I am!!!! They say everyone has a moment when they realize they are old....wow!
Teena Marie might have been "light skinned" on the outside but honey... her soul is purely Melinated💯💯💯 She is Portuguese tho... Listen to her song Portuguese Love... ✌🏾🖤✊🏾🌞👑
I have to say Ms Marie was classically trained to sing she fused it with soul and wow there are only a handful that can mix classical and soul singing into one
Tina marie was just as much a musical genius as rick james prince michael jackson etc... her voice just gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes such a beautiful soulful treasure
Awww Yaaa Tina Marie had the funk-soul interpretation down solid. It's so sad she died in 2010 while making a come back. You need to check out "square "biz " and "lovergirl".
That took me to another planet. Tell Grandma she is too cool! 💖👍🏻🎶😁 You really need to react to "Blue October - Fear" (official vid) PLEEEEEZE!! You will love it!!!!
Ooohh, your grandmother has excellent taste! No1 like Rick & Teena Marie. The more of your videos I watch the more I'm impressed with the amazing young man you are! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I LOVE your reaction. This was one of the BEST reaction I've seen truly. Lol. I'm glad that you let it play and didn't talk while they were performing. And the time you did talk you paused the song. And you used that option sparingly. You let your raw reactions do the speaking for you while they performed UNINTERRUPTED. Lastly you articulated your overall thoughts/ideas about the song after the song was completed. You need to teach a class on how to do reactions. Lol.
Legend has it that Tina ? Was super sick that day? And nailed it in the studio that day only took her one take, she later on went to the hospital 🏥 to be treated.
Love that you're doing Queen, and now Rick and Teena. Classic Rock/metal and old school Funk are my favorite genres, If you're down for some more funk, I recommend Jimmy Castor Bunch, "Troglodyte" and "Bertha Butt Boogie!"
Such an awesome song. I love to see the Rick James reactions knowing what's coming next. Don't get me wrong. Rick's part is phenomenal but Teena man. A whole nutha level.
Thank you, i just subbed you and liked vid..i will watch your reactions anytime. You actually sit back and listen..without interrupting the music every ten seconds. One thing more..i am a black man who believes black is a state of mind which is why i refer to Miss T as being white skinned..not being a "white" person..her soul..her blackness touches me and brings a tear to my eye..some folks can argue..but thats just me feeling her. Jah bless brudda.
You have great reactions man and are one of my favorite reactors on here. I really want to share and introduce another artist to you. I see how amazed you are here with Teena Marie. You should react to Lisa Fisher singing How Can I Ease The Pain Live in 1992. It is amazing and you will be blown away. Please trust me. My favorite reaction of yours was to Luther Vandross singing A House Is Not A Home live. That was the best live performance to me for a long time but Lisa's to me now is just as good. I just learned about hers and been watching others react to it.
