Rick James is so UNDERRATED as a compser and arranger. PUNK FUNK is just a small part of who he was. This is my favorite song by Rick. I really appreciate you as a young person being open to explore. Salute to you!!!!!!!
Im 57 heard all the greats but she is my fav Teena was different like she could cry and sing at the same time she made you feel her pain and emotions this is my fav song by them…
Oh, Teena did another duo with some man called “ You know we’ve got to stop meeting like this”. He isn’t Rick but he did a great job and Teena could make anyone sound good!❤
They we phenomenal many soul R&B that were awsome but these 2 were sexually emotionally and spiritually intertwined with their music Lady T oooo weee Rick James with his soul piercing panty dropping funk , ballads and all around Soul grabbing music will forever live on
Rick is such a sad story. The antics, the drug use, Chappelle Show, hatred of Prince all overshadowed what he was...a genuis. Dude could blow, he actually hung with Teena who in my opinion is one of the greats.
Nah. None of that above means anything. Rick was the man! Only his early death was the problem. Everybody loves Rick! Hip Hip killed Rick's run at the top, none of that other stuff
@@TrillEverything By the time Rick did Glow in 84' he was on Princes label and wearing ruffles. The previous 4 years he was talking about Prince in any paper and magazine that interview him. He even injected Prince into his beef with MTV. Hip Hop was just another genre in the 80's not the everything it is today. By the early 90's when Hip Hop blew up Rick was already in jail.
@@creditorclass6513 I'm 60. I remember when there was no Rick James & I remember when there was no Hip Hip. I lived the beginning of both of them. Rick James demise started when Hip Hip boomed with Run DMC, LL, Dougie Fresh, Mantronix and electric drum machine music. Soul music & funk R&B sputtered and died.. It was over! Rap killed it by 1983. Only Michael & Prince survived, but as Pop Acts...not black R&P acts.
@@TrillEverything Rap was just another genre in 83'. MTV didn't even have Yo MTV Raps on air yet. Sometimes we look back and think Run DMC breaking through meant RnB was dead but it didn't happen that early. Michael and Prince breaking through didn't mean they weren't still dominant on the RnB charts. Rick should have been around much longer and doesn't get the credit he deserves, that we both agree on. I think Rick's habits were actually developed in the 60's and early 70's and he felt that lifestyle was what it meant to be a star.
It was sad that this song got just about no play on the radio. This song went under the radar so if you didn't have the album you never got to hear it.
@@thurmanjackson8026 Rick James is more influential than 2pac is. Blows Tupac out of the water. Shock G said Tupac rapped from the pit of his stomach. Well then Rick James must have sang from the pit of his embryo. Rick James by his song is telling pac to hold his beer.
I’m a little late to your page.. If you want some raw teena.. allow me to recommend.. Dear lover, shadow boxing, stop the world, young love, Portuguese love, out on a limb, Shang-Ri La, ohh la la la la, De’javu, and Casanova Brown.. She slays them all 🙏

Hey how are you I'm much older than you I was born 69 so I came up before you these artist that you be playing Tina and Rick James they like that and trust and believe they did a lot of s*** together LOL but Teddy pendergrass my favorite artist of all time tough dude!!!!
But in some people's head Ray J and clowns from the other night can do this. R&B today does not have soul. Screaming does not mean soul. Thanks for this
