Another great one Jesmelric! Rick and the Stone Canyon Band. Dennis Larden on lead guitar, Jay De Witt White on bass, the late Tom Brumley on steel and I can tell who that is on drums. Rick went through many drummers during this time.
Thanks for posting this gem.....I'm gonna spend more time listening to Rick and his Stone Canyon Band ....I had an opportunity to see Rick and his band in concert a few months before the tragic plane crash .......RIP Rick and band members....great singer, great musicians, great memories
Beautiful! I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Gunnar and Matthew after their concert here in upstate NY. Amazing talent and such gentlemen an so very down to earth. Phenomenal concert.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@maddyhayes617 The twins are so nice. I met them back in 2007 when they performed in Reno at the Hot August Nights event. They performed their dad's songs. They really loved their dad and regarded him as their best friend. What a huge loss for them to have lost him at such a young age (they were 18 when Rick died).
Well done, Rick & Band. 2 of the band : Alan Kemp on Bass-------Pat Shanahan on drums-----are from Denver. I knew them ----with band members Gene Chalk & Randy Meisner, they were " The Esquires " & " the Soul Survivors". -------------wolfSky9
@lindyloftin Yes, this is from Dinah's show. I do have the Hello Mary Lou performace, as well. I will be posting that eventually, as I can get to it. Not sure who's on drums, maybe you'll recognize him when I post the other clip? I love this song, just gorgeous.
I think this is from the Dinah Shore talk show. Is that right, J? As you probably noticed, a recorded track was used. But, Rick and the SCB opened the show with a "live" version of Hello Mary Lou. I remember cranking the 3" speaker on my television to the max! Cooker's version of Try had been played extensively on Dallas FM radio... it was absolutely horrible! I hated the song and then Rick came along and made this masterpiece out of it. Can't tell for sure, Eddie Tuduri on drums?
What happened to the original audio for this? "Try" was released as a single in 1975-76 and bombed. It is available on various greatest hits collections and yes, the phenomenal "Last Time Around" box set.
