To be Ricky at that time would have been many young men’s dream: fairly rich, successful, handsome to no end, with the ability (at least perceived) to get any woman in bed that he wanted. It’s hard to determine who was the handsomest celebrity actors of the past were: Ricky Nelson, Rock Hudson, a young Charlie Sheen, and Montgomery Cliff (before the accident). These men before they became famous could probably get any woman they wanted.
Had to listen to it twice. He had such a beautiful voice. He died too soon. The Jordanaires had been sing for about 4 decades when they were with him here. It is amazing.
The song that was booed and prompted Rick to write Garden Party his smash hit and one of his last chart toppers. I was freshman in high school and remember well the song played so much on the radio. FM was coming into it's own. It was rumored that the booing was from a scuffle with cops in the back of the venue, but Nelson took it as for him for not playing his old hits. He wanted introduce his newer music. Wikipedia has this at a concert in 1972 at Madison Square Gardens.
