A master of guitar has passed away. I have been a quo fan for over 40 years. God bless Rick.

One of the greatest rhythm guitarists. I was 16 when they released Pictures of Matchstick Men, and stayed all the way. No matter what car I have driven, ever since CD players were put in them, I never leave the house without Piledriver. Nothing like speeding home down country lanes with Quo at full blast. R.I.P Rick

A truly decent man. I was fortunate enough to spend some time in the band's company after a gig at the Glasgow Apollo in 1982. Quite a party going on, and I'm sure a much-needed post-gig relaxer for the lads. A fan in the company had brought a massive photo album of all his Quo gig adventures - he asked Rick to take a look. Most "rock stars" wouldn't have wanted to know but he sat down and spent nearly an hour looking through this guy's (probably mind-numbing) volume of photos. What a gent.

As an American, I ran into very few Quo fans in the more than four decades I have considered myself to be a fan of Status Quo. It seemed as though anytime I met someone who was sporting a British accent I would try to mention that I enjoyed their music very much. Some were pleased. Some it seems couldn't have cared less. But I am one and will continue to be. I was never fortunate enough to see the band play live but I sincerely wanted to. The loss of this man saddens me deeply. He was one of the bookends, the other being Mr. Rossi of course. It will be hard to see one without the other. They were my favorite rock music duo of all time. Rick Parfitt was the best damn rock and roll rhythm guitar hands down in my mind and I'll argue in his defense on that with anybody, anywhere, anytime. To his family, friends and associates I wish you peace and light as I wish the same to everybody who ever heard and enjoyed his work. We all know there will never be another one like him.

Thanks for the memories Rick, I'm so glad the Frantic Four that you and we loved so much re-united, although no-one knew it was to be at the end of your magnificent career. Quo fans also loved you even more for being the one who was 100% behind the FF (unlike Rossi) and who wanted them to be a permanent group. we'll all miss your wicked sense of humour RIP Rick.

I saw Status Quo perform live a few times in UK and once recently in Switzerland. I was fortunate to meet Rick and Francis for a short private conversation back in 2004. Rick was a genuine guy and constantly smiling. I really believed him when he said he was a fortunate guy and had enjoyed his journey. He was genuinely surprised they had lasted so long and he made a lot of people very happy. Rock in peace.

We may not be able to see again but we will always be able to hear you for ever, God bless you Rick.

'Finally', Rick. That happy moment you've painfully but quietly pined for. At long last man. Your reunited with Heidi! God speed and 'Thanks' for the years, mate! With Great but also Somber respect...!!

I grew up with Status Quo and been a fan of them for as long as i know. This Rock 'n Roll legend will never be forgotten. Thank you for your contribution to the art of music and my childhood memories! Rest in Piece Rick Parfitt!

A great man and a legendary guitarist, Quo are part of my teenage years and although 12 bar based they were the one of the only bands that have survived. A major loss to the music industry and a loss of a brilliant guitarist, Quo wont be the same without Rick. RIP mate

What a fantastic yet simple tribute to one of the best rhythm guitarists around! I bought my first quo album in the 70's aged15,Piledriver,Rick and quo at their very best,from that day on I was sold on them! I was lucky enough to see them seven times in total and each time I enjoyed it more than the last. RIP Rick,you will be sadly missed as a fantastic guitarist,family man,friend and above all a fantastic,genuine down to earth guy. Now go strum those harps!!

Been with Quo - the greatest band of all time, since Matchstick Men. Honoured to have met Rick more than once, what a lovely guy! Lost my beautiful Alaskan Malamute the same day, Christmas Eve 2016 will never be forgotten. A very sad day.

I followed every year of Quo & each year personified my feelings & hopeful enthusiasm for life & living it to the full - my car tyres spun wheelies at 6 am each morning to Sweet Caroline & the Magnificent Status Quoooooooo God bless Rick & give gum credit for the joy he brought to all those who lived him

I first saw the Quo in 1970 at Granada studios in Manchester they blew me away and I have been a fan ever since. Rest In peace dear Rick.

Rick seems to have been forgotten since George Michael died. There have been numerous newspaper columns about George, but hardly anything about Rick. Yet he was around for 50 odd years and made some great music that has lasted. So thank you for this tribute to him. And my condolences to his family, friends and Francis.

I came back from Liverpool whrere Quo played the last gig of the electrics. My first gig without Rick😪Back at home i was waiting for my family who were in christmas church . The rest of the day was horrible😪christmas will never be the same😪 I miss him everyday,cheer's from Dortmund ♠️💛♠️Quo gigs in England were fantastic, a time i will never forget Thx sooooo much💕

Been a Quo fan since i was a teenager 40 odd years ago, seen them a few times and will always be one of the best live bands i've seen, sad to see him pass away but i will never stop listening to their music it's in my blood, RIP rick you'll be missed.

Well what a crap Xmas & a even worse 2016. Christmas eve will never be the same again for us. Our thoughts & memory's go out to his friends & family. So hard to type this as tears flooding my eyes. Since the release of Mean girl back in the 70's that was when i got hooked on Quo. Seen them loads of times each gig was better than the last 1. RIP Ricky and rock the hell outa heaven & give em hell.Thanks for giving us your music. Rest now for a bit & rock out & have a pint or two on me.

Lived in Brussells, Belgium in the '70s. Saw them twice. Once in London and once in Brussells. Really a good rocking band.

I walked past Rick in Amsterdam on holiday in the mid 90s. I glanced his way and smiled and he nodded back. He looked every inch the rock star that he was. But just so cool and modest you could tell he was a pleasant guy.

I loved this beautiful Man. My beloved Father Died in November 2016 and Rick died (from memory) on Christmas Eve, 24th December 2016. Being 63yrs old I would have thought that with so many people who have died before, I didn't think this would get to me, but my world appeared to fall apart when Dad & Rick died. Watch Rick being interviewed; he was a lovely man. He had his moments and you could feel his anger with his ear monitors on stage at times, but he really did write some heartfelt, meaningful and deep songs. More than just a sad loss to me; I had been a fan of Quo's since 1967..... Along with so many of you adding comments, my condolences to Ricks Sons, Family and friends.

A top man, my best memory is of arriving in Brussels in 1981 to see them, i had left my francs back in England and Rick organised a whip round to allow me spending money for the trip.filming the Baby you like video is still one of my great moments, great times indeed, R.I.P Rick.

So sad to hear that Rick's left us tjis xmas. He was the motor in Quo that kept the band going in the same direction and along a track that we all loved. Discovered the Quo in 79 and never looked back seen them live just once,the original line up,so glad they had a reunion a few years ago that was priceless..R.I.P.Rick.

Im just 8days older than you Richard,we never met,not close anyway.But saw you and the lads at the REGENT BALLROOM in my home town Brighton,would have been bout 18 then,took my girlfriend then,Linda-her Dad was on BH& D buses she lived in Portslade. As the floor was a sprung one(ballroom) the bass made it MOVE up/down to the beat....amps must have been on 12! Like you,I had a triple cabbage in 2008 died twice on table-so they told me later!. Now almost 72 and hope to have a pacemaker sooner rather than later.Have followed the band and your music-----yes it is,so any dissenters out there,go do one. God bless you and the rest still ROCKING!

I first saw status quo live back in 2005 in the cambridge corn exchange. I will never forget that moment when they walked out on to the stage I have never been so star struck in all of my life that memory will stay with me for forever. RIP RICK YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND

loved this guy to bits grew up with their music all started for me with down down and the denim jeans still wear them still have their albums an lots of cds seen them numerous times at different venues always put on a good show always loud ears ringing when you come away from their concerts they will always be legends by me rip rick we will all be up there eventually and then we can catch up again again or what ever you want massive quo fan

I feel as though I have lost a brother. I first heard the band as a 9 year old when they appeared on Top of the Pops playing 'Pictures of Matchstick Men'. At age 12, I tried to persuade my sister to take me to a festival in Derby where they were playing, but never got to. In 1972, eventually got to see them & did not let me down. I could not believe Rick's effort & energy out into the gigs in the 1970's...he must have lost lb's in weight at every gig & never gave less than the maximum effort. On an early tour, my friend & I carried in some of the support bands equipment. Quo were doing their soundcheck (Big Fat Mama). Fran turned & looked at us watching from the side of the stage & shouted 'Do you want some more' ! After they had completed their check, we got their signatures, apart from John Coghlan, who wanted to be away. '^^'kin come 'ere, Spud'! Rick shouted & John duly signed. I went on to see them many many times throughtout the '70's & once passed Rick a not at the end of the gig. Unfortunately, I was soaking with sweat & fear that the ink would have ran & he probably could not make it out. Basically, it was a massive thank you. If you could nt read it then Rick, I am saying once again. Bless ya, fella.

I've only very recently "discovered" the band Status Quo and in the short amount of time I've listened to them I have greatly admired the music they played. I know Rick Parfitt is missed greatly by his friends and I imagine the same is true of his family and fans . In the short bit of time I've had to listen to his playing and singing and to admire his talents as a song writer, I know the world has lost another great musician. My heart goes out to all his family and friends .

I have been away this comes as a hell of a shock, my condolences to his wife and Family, also the fellow band members, For all his high jinks in the early years Rick was a performer of the highest degree. Rest Peacefully.. Thank you

all of my life I've listened to Quo and seen them most times they have toured in Australia . I played in bands as a kid . We all wanted to be just like them . I can't stop drilling through youtube searching for anything ... a reason ..an answer . I am glad I got to meet them. I am glad I was alive during their time . There will never be another Quo in my life time . I am going to miss you Rick . You were my rock idol . RIP

RIP Rick. Thank you not only for the music, which is great, but also your humour which made me laugh at times. Applause for your honesty in the face of ill health, you didn't want sympathy, you acknowledged that your life was of your own choosing and it was an incredible life. My abiding memory of you is smiling as you sang along with Do They Know It's Christmas in the video for Band Aid. An enduring image. Thanks for everything.
