Theory: Rick created the citadel to lure in Rick prime. But after creating it, he saw that the other Ricks needed a place to be, so he left and tried to fix things by going to a Beth that lost her dad.
This made me realize that he probably didn’t even intend to go live with Beth, he just got drunk and crashed into Rick Prime’s house and then couldn’t bare to leave once Beth saw him and thought that he was her dad coming back home

That’s why the Rick prime episode in season seven is garbage he needed help to find Rick prime and they killed him in one episode they should’ve built it up throughout multiple episodes and made an actual high quality fight scene where Rick wins in a surprising way not a stupid swapped eyepatch way

@@carsheaven I don’t think so based on the writing style of the episode and how they showed a woman falling in love and moving on as if it was another version of what Rick could’ve been I believe it’s over Rick prime is gone and Rick found it in his heart to move on since he was laughing with his family

Might have been, considering it meant all those Rick's chose to leave Diane. And likely don't care about her or Beth. Probably made him pretty disappointed to see how low alternate versions of himself were willing to go. To see how selfish they really were.
It's probably more likely that he(Rick Prime) exists simultaneously in all different universes shown on the monitor. Think about it, he is seemingly immortally young. As time went by from killing C-137 Rick's family until present timeline of the show, he(Rick Prime) probably noticed it is a tedious work to recruit Ricks from other dimension, so he probably cloned both himself and his own consciousness across other dimensions. Why else we would see the exact version(in age) of our Rick each time when our main Rick and Morty skip dimensions. What caused that each individual Rick to appear at Smith's home in each dimension in the first place? Did they done the same as our main Rick skipped their own original dimensions. All we know so far is that Rick Prime probably wanted to create his own citadel of Ricks (with constellation of three stars) prior to RickC-137's hunt. After seeing that recruitment of his versions has it's own flaws (by giving his own technology to other versions of himself rather to let them), Rick Prime probably realized it's more simple to just clone himself both physically and mentally many times over across other dimensions, rather to recruit versions of himself who are nowhere near in intellectual potential as Rick Prime. And when in 1S10 episode when "Evil" Rick(that was actually controled by Evil Morty aka Eyepatch Morty) categorized the Ricks from most evil to least evil, he listed himself the most evil, while he listed our Rick(C-137) 3rd most evil, right between "Evil" Rick and C-137 there was a "SuperWeird/Murderer/Killer Rick" that is now known as Rick Prime. The "Evil" Rick remark at Prime Rick listing hin the second most evil Rick with following sentence:"This guy here... Super Weird", probably guessed that even the most "evil" Rick won't even bother to have anything with Rick Prime, it's not like he is scared of him, but it would be just waste of time just to play "games" with this guy to get trolled by him in the end. My take is that each Rick that have lived in currently ex Citadel of Ricks (that C-137 helped to build) have their own rouge Rick (like Rick Prime). Those rouge Ricks were probably all killed during C137's hunt for Rick Prime, but Rick Prime by the time the current Citadel of Rick is created, he created so many clones of himself across all different dimensions (probably all the dimensions where the versions of Ricks are dead). Thats why our Rick(C-137) answers to Morty's question after salvaging the information from Rick Prime's killbot :"I wish Morty, it's all the places he is."
Rogue* is the word you want. Rouge is a color. Nice theory though, solid effort but it doesn't really make sense. If there were more Prime Ricks running around they would inevitably fight for supremacy. More likely he's in many places at once through some application of quantum superposition.
Could it be that Rick Prime gave every other rick the secrets to the portal gun and that C137, Prime and Evil Morty are the only ones who knows how to make a Portal gun from scratch? Kinda make sense why c137, Prime and Evil Morty are so savvy with the portal gun and alluding their enemies. Also why it took rick a while to fix the portal gun...
Yeah, it seems like Rick Prime was going to other universes to recruit other Ricks that weren't as advanced as him to give them the portal gun technology. When Rick C-137 declined his offer, Rick prime tried to kill him, but failed, and instead killed his wife and daughter, which forced Rick C-137 to create the portal gun himself, so it would stand to reason that Rick C-137 and Rick Prime are the only two Ricks who actually created the portal gun from scratch.

@@kinghashbrown7998 that is why i said retcon would imply they had an origin for Rick. My point is they never really planned an origin and started too after they made the second season. If you look at the writing in the first season it was designed to be episodic with no real continuity.
I think it's that ultimately, he isn't changing his past if he does do it. He's only creating an alternate reality where he will still never truly have his family back. It'll still be a different Rick's family.

Always the case with Harmon's shows, start of strong and unique and eventually he runs out of intellectual steam and they devolve into tropes. Prime Rick is the last good storyline this show has left and its 50-50 on them managing to do it right.

I know this might be weird, but what if Rick went back in time and restarted his brain to make it, so he never knew about what happened and he was just live happily ever after with his family
And then he became what he hates. Pretty much the main difference is I don't think he'd really give a crap either way if he met another Rick that wanted to quit like he did.
(An Explanation) (Spoiler Alert) Rick prime was pissed off that rick wasn't going to throw away his family to become multiversal gods since only rick prime and rick are the only ricks that actually invented portal travel. So rick turned down using portal technology to live his own life with his daughter and wife Then rick prime killed ricks wife Diane and his daughter Beth erasing his families timelines. So he then was forced to learn portal travel and traverse the universe looking for rick prime and killing him. The thing is rick prime is also very smart since he technically is rick and made millions of failsafe's and clones incase rick went looking for him. Eventually rick gives up looking for rick prime and comes up with the brilliant idea to travel to Rick Prime's universe and take over as Rick Prime's Rick which is what continues on from Season 1 Episode 1 Beginning the show Rick and Morty with Rick and his adventures with Morty. He had lived with a different version of his family because Beth technically died as a kid including his wife and never met jerry and also didn't give birth to morty and summer. Eventually (Spoiler Alert) He finds rick prime and kills him with the help of evil Morty And so ends his painfully irredeemable feud between him and rick which was all because rick prime himself didn't actually wanna have a family and forced every other rick to have the same belief since he probably considered himself the "Original Rick" since he technically invented the portal gun first. (Which the Truth is the Original Rick is actually every single Rick just different Versions)
Rick is one of the sadest Characters and its sad that he lost so much in his Life, yes he is one of the most Powerful beings in the Galaxy but what brings you Power and Fear when youre alone, nobody to love and misses the Wife and Child he originally had. As much as Rick does say that Morty and the complete Family are useless, in the End he loves them all and would even die to Safe them to be Sure that he is not Losing a Part of the Family again

It’s been implied that his ‘Fabricated Backstory’ in the brainaliser is this exact story. Rick Prime came to him seeing if he wanted Infinity, or Portal Travel. C137 Declined and Rick Prime sent the bomb that killed Diane and Beth. After a period of Grief, C137 is driven only by vengeance.
Rick primand are Rick are the only two Rex we know that have been developed interdimensional travel. Rick prime says you're you invent teleportation suddenly you can travel the whole galaxy to realise you're the last person to invent teleportation sounding like he came from experience, meaning Rick Prime's timeline was probably the first to figure out teleportation technology which led to interdimensional technology later and started giving it to himself across the multiverse. However, are rick had to figure it out himself after his family was killed, we also know that the other ricks haven't been able to kill are Rick. Meaning he's probably a part of a timeline that's a singularity. If primary represents the worst parts of Rick, then I think aric is the opposite and is the best parts of Rick
One thing i don't get it is that in S3 E1 when Rick and that alien guy are inside his brain, Rick told him that what he saw was a completely fabricated origin story, but as we later see that's exactly his backstory, so why did he said it was completely fake ? he had no reason to lie to that guy, he was going to let him die anyway.

@@thegreatscribbles960 @thegreatscribbles960 yeah i remeber seeing a video about this episode, and Dan Harmon and other writers fully sold on the idea that " Rick doesn't need a backstory " but i guess they simply decided to change their minds and estabilish this scene as Rick's actual background , ngl it kinda felt disappointing to me.
After rick prime killed Rick's Diane and Beth Rick went on a Rampage across the multiverse killing Rick's thinking they were rick prime to average his family But he could never find him and ge basically became him which was rick primes gole To make all Rick's acsacly like him Eventually rick makes a peace treaty with the other Rick's by creating the cilidel to keep them safe He Eventually found rick primes universe and decided to take his place hoping he would return All the while forming strong love and cear for morty and stating the franchise
He's had a different Beth after the Cronenberg episode. I think he left that one behind after they messed with squirrels. I don't think we'll ever know exactly how many different Beth's we've seen.
