I'm not sure how self-defense law would apply considering they intended to let him go but only _after_ he revealed the secret and they only let him go because they _thought_ he gave them it. That first part, he didn't just drive under influence. He flew! Which 1. Constructing your open airplane isn't a crime, failing to register it is. 2. He didn't fly alone, child endangerment 3. If he had pilots license, it's revoked, if not, flying without a pilots license is 3 years + up to 250k in fines depending on things like how high he was above residential areas, what planes had to redirect because of him taking up airspace, etc.
