@@serenityinsilence Firstly, Guy said in an earlier podcast that Pete should give up on Open Qualifying as he isn’t good enough. He also stated in the same podcast that Pete was editing his content to make him seem like a much better golfer than he is. Secondly, a week later they had Pete on the podcast. Guy made what seemed like a very insincere apology and spent the whole video attempting to justify why he said Pete should give up. Guy came across like an obnoxious, egotistical moron in the podcast and you could tell Rick was cringing at some of the stuff Guy was saying. Guy even went as far as giving Pete suggestions as to how he could improve his content 😂. The whole podcast was so awkward and Guy made Pete highly uncomfortable
Don’t stop reviewing Rick. My current driver you reviewed and I bought it based on your vlog. It was the best decision I ever did and I would never have done it without watching you review vid. All the best Paul.
I have an idea for a driver comparison: have a high hdcp (20+) swing a ten year old driver, Callaway x hot/RBZ, Taylormade R12/15 or Titleist 912/915 and compare distance and dispersion to the new stuff. The object would be to determine if the newer driver really does help the high hdcp and, if so, how much?
I play off 21.2 and a few years ago, during one of the Golfbidder challenges I was over the moon when Rick chose his driver as it was the same as mine. Can't be that bad, because he revealed that he actually kept it following the challenge. Titleist 905R with YS6+ stiff shaft.
I’m a 27 and I was hitting a Taylormade r5 maybe 150-151 ball speed and it was topping out 215-220 total. I use a pxg 0211 driver and with 145-146 ball speed I was carrying 230-240 easily. Technology is crazy
@@itzfrederick1916 man I loved playing my R5, had a 13 degree loft so it sent to the MOON but I also have a hearty swing so I got 300 out of it quite a few times. It would still be in my bag rn if my wife didn’t hit it so well 😂
Club reviews are the reason I started watching Rick. Honestly they’re the reason why I subscribed and continue to watch (with Break75 ofcourse). I know there are more and more people who do these kind of things, but what makes Rick’s videos different is that they’re more relatable and authentic.
The Oxfordshire for break 75! Ex European tour event, hard off the back tees, windy and 10/10 sausage rolls at the halfway house (13th tee). Myself and the resident pros would love to watch you play here!
Be interesting to see Rick do a break 75 around a local cheaper course, I know wouldn’t look as nice but see what he shoots at a course we could all play
Crazy course to play in the US is Mt. Massive in Leadville, Colorado. It is one of the highest elevation golf courses in the US. Over 10,000 feet or 3,000m. You have to ride a cart, no walking the course due to the thin air. Because of the high altitude, the ball just goes longer than you expect. People playing there for the first time tend to accidentally hit into the group ahead. When I played there a couple times in the early 90s, it was probably the first time I hit a drive over 300 yards (on cheap golf balls and x’d outs.) Also in Colorado is a course outside Crested Butte. Absolutely beautiful, but high elevation there too at over 9,000 feet. It has hosted some tournaments before. I know there was an LPGA event there a few years after it was built. I played there once when I was pretty new to golf around 14.
Getting back into golf after 30 years. Bought clubs from Golf Bidder last week. Got them in a few days to Ireland. Very happy with them. Full set or Mizuno forged irons rated 6 for under £200. 3 and 4 iron look like they’ve never even hit a ball. Rest just have the usual bag dings. 460cc Mizuno driver with original head cover and nearly new grip for £65. £50 for a 3 wood and original head cover. Yes putter for 50 quid. Cleveland sand wedge for £29. Having played as a teenager I didn’t want a set of beginner clubs that I thought I would regret buying having used blades as a kid and Golf Bidder meant I could buy a set of very nice clubs for around the same price. Picked up a nice new bag locally and I now have a tidy set of clubs.
I was born and raised in Wallasey but did not start playing golf until I moved to New Zealand. I always heard about what a great course it was but have never played it. Will be back home next year and am definitely taking my clubs. Dan Hendrickson did a great video around there as well. Looking forward to seeing you play there.
I got back into golf for the first time properly as an adult this year as I appraoch 50, got myself some clubs from golfbidder after seeing the £500 challenge, ok , i may have spent more than £500 but stilll, great choice and service. So far I have shot 100, 98, 95, 90. Wouldn't have done it without vids like yours Rick ( and others ike Pete F, Bad God, Golf mates, Tubes and Ange etc) helping me relearn how to play after basicallly learning as a kid, stopping playing then playing once or twice in my 20s and 30s!
Hey Rick Thanks very much for the well wishes for the Muir College 200 year anniversary. We had a great time playing playing the Uitenhage Golf Club. Hope to see you in SA soon.
Break 75 @ Hollinwell! 7250 off the back blue tees. You should see if you would have qualified for The Open as it’s been a final qualifying course for the last 5 years or so.
Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kansas, USA is a great and interesting course. It's over 7,000 yards from the tips. The front nine is an undulating, treacherous, and difficult wooded front nine...while the back nine is links style and just as beautiful. It's always in great condition, and is a hidden gem just down south of the Kansas City Metropolitan area. It is consistently rated as on the of the best public golf courses in the nation, and has been awarded several times Public golf course of the year in the state of Kansas. I highly recommend it!
My golf course suggestions for a while have been the courses at Big Cedar Lodge at Table Rock Lake. Lot of courses for a lot of content. It would mean an American tour but you’ve got a ton of fans across the pond. Included in the offerings is Tiger Woods first public course, Payne’s Valley. One of the most spectacular courses in the US.
It has already been said below but the authentic, relatable information you give as far as golf club reviews has been so important to us average golfers. Please don’t stop them.
Rick, I got a Ping chipR after seeing your review and found it way better than expected. I’m 73 and been playing 60 years and never really mastered chipping until I got the ping. So your reviews especially clubs other than driver really help us to know what’s available.
In the US here, I've played in weekly groups Stableford but you play to your points average (average of your last ten rounds) so. if your last ten rounds you average 24, if you get 28 points you are +4.....
I'm American and had literally never heard of Stableford until the last time you mentioned it. I think when I play with my girlfriend and her parents it could be a really good way to keep it competitive!
Rick you need to try if you haven't already lakeside golf course in Montgomery, Powys. It's about 1.5 hours from manchester but is an incredible course! It's only 9 holes and has lodges overlooking some of the greens. Most holes are either majorly up hill e.g 50ft above tea box or downhill 50ft so very challenging and would make superb filming. Surrounded by rivers, hills and woodland it really is spectacular! Give it a try!
We have a senior group that plays three times a week here in North Carolina. We’ve been playing the stable ford system for years. I think we use this system here in the US more than you think. It’s probably the most fair game to all handicaps .
Not sure if it has been mentioned below or not, but the PGA tour played a Stableford tournament from the late 1980's to late 1990's at Castle Pines in Colorado. It was usually played after the PGA championship (then in August). It was a great golf course with a reachable par 5 on 18 where one could pick up a lot of points. It was called the International Tournament.
I'm from cumbria in the North and although we aren't known for our golf courses we have some awesome hidden gems. My two favourite are silloth on solway golf club which I think at one point was rated the 3rd best links course in England and the second I brampton golf club which is the hilliest golf course I've ever seen and is very challenging. Plus brampton is my home course and I'd love to see some content in my local area! Cheers for the cracking content Rick!
Hey Rick & Guy, here in the USA we do use stableford. Infact most clubs run a 'shootout at weekends' where you have a points target based on your previous scores (handicap). The points are stableford points and you score as per in the UK.
Rick personally I’d love to see a break 75 at your home course Marriott worsely park just to see how low you can really go with your most comfortable place
You guys should definitely give Break75 a go around Cavendish, Buxton. Loads of risk & reward shots, it's great fun and the greens are outrageous. MacKenzie designed course and there are some stunning views too!
Rick: I first found your RU-vid channel when considering purchasing a PING i25 iron set in 2014,. Your expertise and commentary during that club test was quite helpful in my decision process and I still own those clubs. Since that first visit to your channel, following, and quality content has grown immensely. You do quality work and produce interesting content. Nonetheless, I will miss your insightful assessments on a broad range of golf equipment (even the rather strange products like Polaris golf balls you tested some time back). On the other hand, I look forward to your driver reviews and plan to be part of your audience into the future. Thank you and all the best!
I'm in Canada and have played golf (albeit poorly) for over 40 years now... and had never even heard of stableford until I started watching you and other UK golf channels on RU-vid. Everything here is stroke play. Even match play is very rare.
Oo i really liked the golfbidder video's, so very glad they are coming back. I'm a very new subscriber but realy like it so far, I also had my first golflesson this sunday also first time I've touched a golfclub and I can't wait for the next one
Hey Rick, LOVE to hear that Break 75 is staying... I'd love to see you take on my local, normal course that I play on "Easter Moffat Golf Club" in Scotland. I think it would be awesome to see you take on a few courses we can all relate to a little more. My course is in great nick, very hilly, very Scottish. I'm sure the club would love to have you. Look up the 18th, our feature hole. It's beautiful. Buzzin'!
First time I have ever heard of what Stableford meant. Awesome. To have fun playing golf, I switched to using a FlingStick now for FlingGolf, and have now extremely been able to enjoy being on any course I can get. It is Super fun now.
Like many others, I really related to the Dear Rick, I went through the same thing as an early teen, firstly that shows motivation and drive to get better, a passion for the sport which is great, find a way to harness that energy to keep working hard to improve, take note of what specifically goes wrong in a round and use that as work ons for the range or the practise green. Also, teach him the rule of 3 F's, F*#k it, Fix it, Forget it. Between a bad shot and the start of your routine of the next shot, F*#k it (you are allowed to be unhappy with a bad shot, just do your best to limit that emotion), Fix it (Evaluate what went wrong and correct it as much as you can in that moment, will get easier as you get an underatanding of your strengths and weaknesses), Forget it (Move on, do not let that last shot effect your thought process and routine of your next shot), my school team sports physcologist taught me this and it has really helped me. Lastly, same tip Rick gave about his young kids, make golf fun, it's not just about winning, only a very small number of people make a living off this sport, there is no better place to be in the world than on the golf course!
Rick I just finished that epic major with Good Good golf. Those guys are so much fun to watch. Can't wait for you coming to the states to play them in another match. Please get Pete for a match and take him to play against Good Good. Thanks for such good content on all your channels.
Love golf bidder and Donal's enthusiastic reviews. (Rick get Donal on the show!) Myself and my mate seen the FUBAR airports in May/ June and did a golf bidder style challenge £500 build a bag. The 2015-217 bag build, Adams blue irons, fusion driver, XR16 5w, Cobra F Max 5 hybrid, NO7 putter, £450 inc bag, 4 Vokey SM5 wedges. All I regripped wedges TLC up! I have broke 80 twice, enjoy these away over SIM2 set up. For the price of my driver ! Irons go as far.. Driver makes 280 yards love it..
Hi Rick, on your recent charity walk in Scotland you stopped off briefly outside my home course Paisley Golf Club. I’d love you to come back and play the course with Guy on your break 75 Challenge. Think you would really enjoy it. Cheers Craig
I've got an eTron through work. If you have a charger at home, brilliant. Public charging points are shocking. You can plug it into any normal 3 pin socket though - so when you're at the office, park near a window or door and plug it in. It's very slow (36 hours for full charge) but better than nothing.
Maybe a good way to review (for instance) take the Ping g425 Driver, woods and Irons, and then the Ping G400 driver, woods and irons, and play a few holes, or the same holes with each, and take them on the GC Quad. Then see if the there is any appreciable difference. Then show the Golfbidder price for the G400 set vs the new price for the G425.
We, at Centennial Valley, in Conway, Arkansas, USA, do, in fact, play a Stableford tourney, once a year in our Men's Golf Association. We, ALSO, play it a few times a year in our Friday group...It's great for me because I ALSO, have a blowup hole...
Nope, you should not stop reviews. Even if the channel is big and still grows, always remember those important step that made the channel grow, honest reviews is a rare thing, and important for us - the average golfers who likes to think a tiny improvements in tech-brings that tiny bit of more joy into our game! Greatings from a genuine Viking in Norway! ;)
Kirkland is definitely the go to ball if you lose balls a lot! They are priced well and perform pretty good compared to the cheap Walmart balls. There is a reason i have like 5 boxes of them 😀 Super excited to see another Golf Bidder Challenge between Rick and Peter!
Hi Rick and Guy, Why not come to New Zealand on your world tour for #Break75. If you are going to Australia, it makes sense to come to New Zealand. I am more than happy to host you and your team. You should play the number 1 golf course in the world, Tara Iti (as per Golf Digest rankings) or even the amazing Jacks Point, Millbrook or The Hills down in Queenstown. There are dozens of others. Think Lord of the Rings scenery mixed with golf and you have a match made in heaven playing here in New Zealand.
This is a great day, a great day! Your (and Pete's) video from Golfbidder is the best in the world of golf video, hands down! To see the used clubs come back to life, I'm really looking forward to this. I am from Sweden, I buy copiously much from Golfbidder and they always give the best quality, I hope one day to visit their store and maybe get the chance to play a golfbidder challenge with you! what a dream! So much fun to see you guys at it again!
Please come to play a Break 75 at Monifieth. It's very close to Carnoustie and St. Andrews but flies under the radar. I think it's an ideal course for your challenge. As a past Captain of Monifieth Golf Club, I can guarantee you hospitality and a warm welcome! 😀
Two PGA Courses that are available for public play in South Carolina, USA The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, which has hosted the Ryder Cup & PGA Championship Harbour Town at Hilton Head, which hosts the RBC Championship These two courses are only a little over 2 hours apart
I have a course to recommend for the break 75’s around the world. Golf Club Al Marassi in El Alamein, Egypt. Absolutely fantastic course and a real challenge! Great content Rick and Guy!
I said it before... the Stableford format is played by most golf clubs here in the U.S. Even the PGA Tour has a Stableford event called the Barracuda Championship played during the week of The Open... probably a tip of the hat to the UK.
Rick, you experience with your electric powered loaner is a perfect example of why there will be no wholesale conversion from our petroleum based transportation system to electric, primarily due to the cost of the vehicles, followed by limited range, the difficulty of finding a charging station and the time it takes to charge.
In 1920, there were roughly 15,000 gas stations in the US and were hardly convenient. At that time, Rick would have had a hard time finding gas had he set off with just 30 miles worth in the tank. I'm sure plenty of folks at that time said "that's exactly why there won't be wholesale adoption of personal automobiles." By 1930 there were over 100,000 stations, better technology, and refilling was no longer an obstacle. Point of the story, things change pretty quickly.
@@the.mediocre.golfer Things only "change quickly" when there is a economic incentive...in the 1920's the cars were relatively inexpensive compared to electric vehicles and the Rockefeller monopoly expanded the number of gas stations since they supplied the gas. Who is going to provide electric charging stations unless they can charge for their use...right now the incentive is they are free in most cases. Perhaps the electric vehicles will have a broader appeal in 30 years, not 10. I spent my career in the transportation industry and about 15 years ago we began to hear the drumbeat for self driving vehicles and were told they would be everywhere in 10 years...haven't heard much about them lately, other than stories about how Tesla's fail. Just like electric vehicles, not ready for prime time...and horror stories like Rick's just reinforce justified skepticism.
@@dcb5176 High speed chargers are almost exclusively paid services, just like buying gas (but are still far more cost effective compared to the average ICE vehicle). The only person I recall seriously trying to claim self-driving cars would be everywhere in 10 years was Elon Musk and he was (and is) full of crap. It's completely irrelevant to talking about EVs. Regardless, I'll just keep driving my "not ready for prime time" EV without a single "horror story" to tell.
@@the.mediocre.golfer Hope you enjoy your EV, particularly when the electric grid begins to fail as more coal and nuclear power plants are shut down...any economy that now talks about people cutting wood to heat their homes this winter in Europe has no business talking about the glories of EV. And yes, talk about self driving vehicles was all the rage among policy makers...just like transitioning to EV vehicles.
You should totally combine golf club reviews and competition rounds with others. You each play Cobra's new driver with some sort of challenge, or old vs. new, or something like that. Or, you get the new head with 4 shafts (tour stiff, xstiff, stiff, and reg). You start off with whichever one you want, but then if you lose a hole you have to change to another shaft competitors choice; if you win a hole you get to change back to whichever one you want. That way you get a round of actual use, trying a variety of configurations, and you get two peoples (or more) viewpoint on how the driver plays.
I like all rick sheils videos but I do love club reviews thats what brought me to this channel. No matter what I will always love golf and this channel 😁
Rick I would love to see you come to Canada! On the east coast in Nova Scotia is Cabot Cliffs and Cabot links ranked 10th and 39th best golf courses in the world by golf digest. Both links style. They also have a par 3 course at the same location as well. Would be a great place for filming a week of content!
Wallasey golf club couldn’t agree more the course is something really special it has a connection with nature and when it’s sunny 🌞 with rough knee deep and fast greens it is a true test of links golf course.
Rick, a WONDERFUL course that would be such a great episode of Break 75 is Seqouyah National golf course in the southeast U.S. There is not a blade of grass out of place, and breaking 75 is a challenge for anyone who braves this course! Please at least consider this gem!
Love the equipment reviews bought my ping g irons (despite being a single digit handicapper) because of you and never regretted it. Never would have looked at evenroll if it wasn't for you. Honestly i know the sauce is with the drivers but i would love to see reviews that are off from that... things like driving irons, hybrids, and honestly the ping chuipper video was great... You definitely have earned your credibility when it comes to club reviews
You are the Top Gear of golf! Going from reviews and coaching to more of an entertainment show. Love the content you do, getting bigger and better all the time……… just don’t punch anyone!! 🤣 come on Amazon, sign em up!!
Please come and play hunley golf club in the north east, has one of the craziest/difficult greens you’ll ever play and a 300 yard par 4 you can drive with a 6 iron And I think you should keep club reviewing, always interesting to see a truthful honest opinion
I think do a tour to South Africa, a whole entire load of nice courses and lovely weather all the time. You have courses like Fancourt, Leopard Creek, Durban Country Club and tons more to play. It will be absolutely amazing to see.
Rick any plans to get Rob Potter the legendary mid-handicap tester on the podcast for an interview? The fans would go nuts! Rob was instrumental in your success back in the day, and if not for him, not so sure you'd be where you are today. Need to give credit where credit is due. Hope to see how Rob in doing through the podcast in the near future! Cheers!
Am from the area wirral, am category 1 golfer, so I've played both courses quite alot, the Royal, and Wallasey, are both really good tracks, but for me personally, Wallasey is a much harder course.
Hey Rick! I’m playing a stableford tournament at Firestone this Fall. It’s still a little obscure in the US but definitely becoming more common. Love it!
Rick, I'd love to see you come to my club, Leasowe and try and break 75. It is on the coast half way between Hoylake and Wallasey. Its a proper hard and fast links golf course in the summer but it might be one to consider in the winter months because it generally takes quite a bit to stop play on it.
Hi Rick and Guy, I’d like to see you try and break 75 at Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club. Eric Anders Lang played there in his Scottish series. I played there last and it is very tough. Good luck, Phil
Don’t stop the reviews please …. I really love that part of the channel … also it’s what allowed me to find your channel and liked it so much now subscribed and enjoy all the other content … I believe you gain more new subs than you think from the reviews
When people watch golf on TV you get everyones best shots. I love watching PGA Tour Events online. Watch the Feature Groups they show every shot of that group. Then you get a reality of how hard this Game is. Also going from 22 handicap to an 11 is amazing, but getting to scratch is so hard, so take your time and have fun this is a Game and have fun with it.
As a young teen, I played to a pretty good standard (7). I felt pressured to perform at this level every time, and ended up falling out of love with the game. Then came grip it and rip it and tee it high let it fly, I seriously tried to smash the dimples off the ball. This led to wayward shots galore. This caused a dramatic rise in handicap (16). I came back to golf 3 years ago following nearly 12 years away from the game due to injuries and life getting in the way, I now play off 21.2 and have a far greater enjoyment of the game because I'm swinging within myself and accept the fact that bad shots are going to happen and I can cope with whatever I'm dealt.
I feel the exact same way. I stepped away from golf after high school, and picked it back up after 10 years of not playing. I used to play off 12 handicap, so not quite as good as you were. Now I’m about a 22 handicap and really enjoy getting out on the course. I spent my 10 year stent away from golf in college, and then established myself in my career afterwards. Im enjoying teaching my 2 young sons how to play golf and can’t wait until they are old enough to play too.
The American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. CA uses stableford scoring. It’s a tournament for celebrities and sport stars. Not really many pro golfers except Annika Sörenstam plays.
Rick announcing he may not be doing main brand club reviews - a few days later an advert popped up on my Facebook feed for the brand new PXG 0311 Gen5 drivers. For only £250! PXG are hoping Rick or ‘Jake Murphy’ doesn’t buy one 😉 Loving the shows guys - keep it up.
