You asked "bamkim chatterjee road" which with ur accent he heard "bikaram chandmal" which is nearby and sounds similar 😂 And the 1st rickshaw guys didn't wanted you to drink soda from the corner shop, he asked u to inquire about "PARAMOUNT" from the shoopkeeper, who knew the directions.

FYI Max, Autos here in Kolkata run differently than other cities , they have fixed routes within which they operate. Unlike other cities you can't travel around the city using them. If you want to go somewhere in Auto ask them about the auto of that specific route within which the place is. Welcome to Kolkata BTW, hope you have a great time.

In kolkata most places the Autos have fixed route from point a to point b, they are not like taxis for hire. No trip will cost more than 30.

Actually in Kolkata auto runs on fixed routes unlike other cities. Hence its better to take uber if you are not sure of the route

Oh yeah Max one thing. Kolkata doesn’t have those Rickshaws that takes you from one place to the other. Here Rickshaws and Autos follow designated routes just like a public bus. For going to a place you need to use the public transportation including buses,autos and specially the metro. You can also use the manual rickshaws for travelling short distances of 2-3 kilometres. Or else Taxis and Uber is a suitable way to travel. Cheers!

Hey max....I'm a fellow southerner....I'm from Texas living in Québec. ....your videos (and the ones with Chris) have helped me decide between spending 6 months in israel/Palestine or Vietnam. .....needless to say I will be traveling to Vietnam next year I arriving in May and traveling the whole country north to south...... continue traveling and vlogging ..... From Vietnam, take a direct flight to Kolkata. The one way flight fare is very cheap, less than 100 US $. Then on same trip you can visit India too. 😊🙏🇮🇳

I think the guy waiting for the bus meant that if the license plate is yellow, then it's a public vehicle. Also, yellow taxis are good only for the experience of travelling in a vintage mode of transport. Most people nowadays prefer ordering a cab through Ola or Uber. Yellow taxis will more often than not rip you off.

Quick notes… in kolkata, white taxis are either Ola/ Uber…and newer private taxi union led cabs. Autos in Kolkata run only on fixed routes, so they cannot go to any location you ask.

Rickshaws in Kolkata are fixed routed (like buses) you cant hail and charter them for your exact requirement usually

Go for victoria , science city , princep ghat , dakshineswar temple, jorasako thakur bari , new town ,eco park , biswa bangla gate restaurant , zoo and many more but must visit dada boudi biriyani and china town area for morning breakfast.

In Kolkata most auto rickshaws r shared and run on fixed routes with fixed price and operates like bus.

Kolkata public transport doesn't work like other cities. Rickshaws go only from one spicific place to another specific place (in sharing). Yellow cab is basically a rickshaw in Kolkata.

Hey Max, Autos run on a shared basis and fixed routes in Kolkata. They also have fixed prices per route which ranges anywhere between 10 to 50 Rs. If you are going in the same route opt for autos. Otherwise for places a bit far you can avail the Yellow Taxis, Cabs from Ola, Uber and Indrive apps. There's also bus, tram, metro as well as ferries on the Ganges river. Happy Trails 😊

@@Anonymous-sf4hw no....but this is the reason why I said when lord jagannath comes out of his shrine for Rath Yatra anyone can have darshan and even pull the rath (as you can see scores of foreigners visit at this time). Sadly to this date non-hindus are forbidden entry to the temple for personal and security reasons, and it's for the court and temple authority to decide in future.
