Daniel Blair's insight and keen observation are what set him apart from the others. He was always on point with his analysis and could actually put sentences together smoothly and eloquently. A Fan Favorite. Being a past champion doesnt equate to success as a coach OR a commetator. This is why i watch this channel. Straight talk and not afraid to tell it like it is.
Not defending Ricky or you, I'm sure you've got WAY more insight than any of us. As an outsider who just loves the sport since 1970 when I was 5, I've heard and seen a lot of different voices and opinions. Growing up with friends in the movie industry I saw 1st hand how backstabbing people are. Not everyone in the industry is like that, behind the scenes people are very diverse and most are just going to work every day. Sad to hear that RC is a jerk but not surprised. Wish nice guys like DB would stand up for what is right and fight for his job. He gave us the goods on the track and I liked his insight. Thus is what happens when everyone kisses your ass from the time you're a kid and through your career as an athlete. I watched this 1st hand as a "Minor" league baseball player. It's sometimes disheartening to see guys with great talents be an ass. Miss Ralph and Fro. Remember Fro started off a little shaky but came around. Hope everyone has a great day and enjoy the summer of racing.
Totally agree. AP is the closest thing to hillbilly in supercross/motocross. We can all agree AP is next level amazing and loveable! Good heart is a good heart.
@@jacobshred67 i was wrong, he does use the term "hillbilly" near the end of the video just after the 10:30 point. However, i did not hear him use it other than that one time unless you want to point out the "multiple" times he used that term, and he used the term "redneck" around the 3:14 point.
I was doing videos for a rider under the same tent as D. Blair a few years back I’ll never forget how funny he was and so upbeat, His energy/vibe is positive and almost contagious. I remember him riding back to the truck after a practice the first thing he did was start singing and dancing. He Wasn’t trying to put on a show, that’s just him. Even when nobody was watching him, everybody was watching him. Hes been an entertainer his whole life I’d imagine. Having him on TV was a no brainer
My son and I met him at Anaheim 1 for Stewart’s first race in the 450 class - the mud race. Stewart’s autograph line was HUGE. Ricky had one person in line. I would think this is hugely embarrassing. Anyway he signed some stuff and talked/joked with us for a few minutes and my kid went away with a smile. So maybe he is everything this video says but he was cool to us and that’s what we remember.
We all miss GL. Tbh, i kinda miss Ralph Shaheen on supercross too. I got so used to hearing him when he left it felt so weird lol, but i know a lot of people hated him
@@BuyArizona48 I re watched Pala again . Bubba's commentary was spot on , it was like telling what's going to happen in the future, like a scripted movie. Impressive with added personality and humour . Respect !!! ❤❤❤🇦🇺❤❤❤
When Ricky bombed Blair's breakdown I lost respect for Ricky I love the Goat and to see that I felt embarrassed watching it and I felt bad for Blair it was very poor judgement of Ricky to do that it was a very low blow
Don’t generally like dissing on People but You nailed this one. Rewatched the Arlington video. Ricky was not being funny, He was being a bully and a dick because He knows He can get away with it. Not many People have the balls to bag on RC. I’ve felt what Blair must have been feeling to walk away from that gig. If You’re a nice guy, raised to be decent and respectful of people you really don’t like hanging or working with people like RC. Makes for a toxic workplace or party or whatever the situation is. Mean people will say, oh you just have thin skin. Well, maybe so, but it doesn’t excuse the fact that RC is a jerk (especially in that video).
The only thing i can say is, big ricky is genuinely a good man. He raised ricky right. But once you get fame and are around the celebrity crowd it changes alot of people. Back when the ezra lusk thing happened i was shocked he would be that way
Yeah he took a shot at ciancarillo too about staying on two wheels and making mistakes. Ricky let himself down that day ,Adams face was worth a thousand words as in did you really just go there ricky look on his face
I see your points sf64, but on the other hand the "culture" of the pro pits seems to be tons of trash talking pretty much all the time...the little clips of it we get to see are probably just the tip of an iceberg, and RC is likely far from the worst of them.
@@ryanjoel3157 im not in the pits much the whole motorcycle industy thrived on dredging up dirt on the competition from 1981 til 2020 as far as i know. Suspenion mechanics talkin smack about other suspension mechanics
Ricky was awesome at his craft. And I always thought Jeremy McGrath was the goat. But Ricky just seems like a backstabber. I thought they messed up when they got rid of Ralph and Emig. For me those were the voices of Supercross
That summer that Ping was in the booth for MX was pretty funny, in a good way. He is like Stew, crackin jokes and being loose. It was 06 millville mudder and Reed and Stew were stuck right next to each in a corner and Ping was doing commentary of what they were probably thinking , then DV rides by and does a fist pump just because he made it through the corner, and you can hear Ping lose it. It's funny. Sometimes we need that. GL is missed too, both great!
Just watched the Arlington breakdown like you mentioned and WOW. You can see how aggressive Ricky gets and how shocked Daniel is. That right there shows Ricky’s true colors and that is not cool.
I just made the same comment before reading this. I still can't believe what I watched. And, all the people in the video are thinking it was some type of skit when it was CLEARLY not. IDK how anyone can mistake that for acting. Wtf!!??
I definitely agree that Ricky is horrible as an announcer, and Blair was one of the best we’ve had. Luckily, Stewart is looking really good, hopefully hes around more. The only thing I was waiting for in this video is the explanation of what actually happened that got Blair fired, what happened?
I remember he said to Jeff at the MEC 2012 “How many Championships do you have?” In the booth like you can hear it and see it his real Napoleon Complex is showing now after he is done with that PR thing. Keefer has covered this too.
Stewart is NOT looking good. Sorry, but he has lots of work to do to be on Daniel's level. He has some dooozies if you really listen to him. Again, not bagging on him. He's a nice guy but needs work. He'll get there though.
I agree Cookie, Rickey says shit that makes me cringe and gives me the feeling that he's untrustworthy, I've always felt that way about him so screwing Daniel wouldn't surprise me one bit....keep speaking your mind Chris, you get me fired up about moto news and I thank you brother! I don't always agree w ya, but I'm always entertained
DB’s personality is fantastic and adds/added so much to the TV broadcast, they loss a great guy. I’d choose him over the others anytime, every time. I dislike that DB will be more behind the scenes now. We need him on the broadcast!
Loved Daniel Blair. Can't believe he won't be bringing the good vibes anymore. Seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. Maybe that's exactly why he got screwed.
If it has a motor and it's on NBC, Leigh Diffey is going to be in the booth at some point. Diffey has a lifetime of play by play booth time, Sheheen does too. Perhaps neither are your cup of tea, but they are play by play guys, without doubt. RC is colour commentary, but he wants to be play by play, Blair was ahead of him in this pecking order, obviously Weege is too. Bubba/Emig/GL/Broc Glover.... these guys are what colour commentary should be. In the booth, RC has the personality of a cardboard cutout.
Damn, I thought you were being harsh on RC... until I watched Blair's Breakdown Arlington 2023. That was totally unprofessional to punch down at a colleague on camera like that. I'm kind of surprised they posted the video. You could see the VIPs cringing through their awkward grins
Look Ricky has lived in a bubble his whole life of people giving him and doing for him whatever he wanted to make sure he wins and someone that hasn't been beaten alot gets mad when they are threatened and Daniel Blair was way better than Ricky he was doing everything the press track walks he was just holding it down making it feel more understandable and full they definitely cut off their own leg getting rid of him I mind blown
Nothing will ever come close to Art Eckman, David Bailey, and Davey. Larry Myers and Dave Dispain were a close second.. I am a 90s washed up MXer.. so everything mx was better back then 😂
So, went to “Blair’s Breakdown Arlington” as instructed. I watched twice to make sure. I thought; “maybe Ricky is just playing around” but I can tell you, Blair didn’t take it that way. It was full on bullying. Ricky was being a complete scumbag to make the VIP’s laugh. They did laugh but it became nervous laughter. That was full on narcissistic behavior. Ricky can’t even talk in that scenario without jumbling his words. He’s making fun of Blair but can’t even spit it out. Blair had to help him get his words out, to cut Blair down! Being from here, we watched Ricky and Bubba growing up, racing Dade City. I know for a fact that Ricky’s parents were warned not to put everything into Ricky, by the guy who has launched more successful SX/MX careers than anyone else. I always thought he was wrong. Truth is, Randy Yoho was right but Ricky had nothing but kind words to say about him in his Hall of Fame speech. There is no love lost between most of us MX parents and Randy Yoho over the years and I can assure you that all that ass-kissing by Ricky was pure politics.
Blair was definitely one of my favorite people to listen to when it comes to supercross. He was a natural, and he brought alot of personality and a great sense of humor to the broadcast. Im shocked that this happened, i believe their views are going to drop because of this, big time mistake. He will be greatly missed. Weird, i remember watching that episode of blairs breakdown and it caught my attention. Seemed like there was some tension, and ricky made himself look foolish. I went back and watched it again......and man oh man, you could see the tension clear as day. daniel was way caught off by his attitude, ricky even stated his insecurity and his jealousy without even realizing it. " blair your the chosen one, the fans new favorite toy" sad story
I just went and watched Blair's Arlington video referenced in this video, and I am blown away. It is amazing the amount of people in the comment on that video who are applauding the "banter" as if it were a skit. If Carmichael and Blair were acting in that video, there's no way Hollywood hasn't picked them up. That was as real as it gets! The animosity can be felt through the screen. Wow!
It starts with the favoritism in this sport which many look the other way on ,and that leads to the superiors building their own posse within the sport and we get left with stupid problems like this. It a common problem in sports ,companies,schools...
Agree , sometimes its the ass kisser with the gift for gab that advances over the more qualified employee & in most cases the problem lies in the decision maker who sucks at his job & dont know his own talent , SX just lost a high level talent in DB & l feel they dont have a clue .
Eli is great but he’s definitely not the greatest. Too many races where it looked like he completely forgot how to ride a dirt bike. If you wanna use competition for the greatest racer then Villopoto is a better candidate.
I disagree with you on many things. But when I hear Ricky talk I get a headache. It makes me suspect he’s borderline illiterate. Can barely put a sentence together when commentating. Daniel is incredible. I learn when he talks. I suffer when Ricky does
Wow, unreal. DB is the best thing to happen to moto in recent years. 100% dB is the biggest threat to anyone who gets in that booth, Blair kills every single time he's on TV or a podcast. Man I've lost so much respect for RC for this, I honestly thought they were friends. Thanks cooksey
Ive always wondered why Carmichael didnt do so well in NASCAR. I remember in an interview Carmichael saying that his goal was to be successful in something other than racing. Mcgrath once said when asked about Carmichael that he had been known for being heartless at times while racing. Maybe Blair is getting pushed off because Stewart is coming in on the broadcast as an announcer.
I watched a lot of Ricky's truck races. He was rarely able to finish because of wrecking. I remember that there was a lot of hype about him at the beginning, but it faded with each crash.
Daniel Blair was the best one up there in my opinion. He just sounded professional and just a down to earth nice guy. He had the best show also in my opinion. (The Blair show I think it’s called). I looked forward to that before every race. Gave great insight on the riders unlike vital and all them. He just was himself. The other ones are like it’s there job. Blair was just doing it for fun. Got to see the riders laugh and there personality’s came out around him. Farewell Daniel Blair, hope you keep doing well in life and screw the people that screwed you.
I think you're going a little hard on *RC* with a lack of information on one hand & then some personal information you say you have on the other hand. (that I don't know) But I think you're giving *RC* too much credit kicking *Emig* out or *DB* out. It's more corporate decisions the same way they got rid of *Ralph* they got rid of *Daniel* & now they brought in *Stewart.* Are you going to say it was *Stewart* backstabbing *Daniel* like how they got rid of *Emig* & brought in *RC? (Ralph & Emig* are doing *WSX)* But when it comes to things like the *442* podcast I can see *RC* not being considerate & giving *Emig* a heads up because his whole life he's always had people handle that. I also think you're making too much out of the *LCQ* banter back & forth between *DB & RC. DB* was the one bringing that up before *RC* started razzing him for it, which is what guys do. *(Reed* did the same to *JT)* But *RC* isn't that big egomaniac always bragging about his accolades that you would think someone like him would have. Think they even touched on this with *RC's & Stewart's* recent interview about their 30yr "friendship" on & off the track & now their relationship in the booth
100% Ricky is so bias it is unbearable to watch at times. When they bring in these ex champions it mostly alienates a part of the fan base. They are all brand ambassadors and they use their platform to push their brand. Blair was good because he just called the race and didn't try to tell me who or what to like.
I know he was “one” of the best racers to ever race, but he reminds me of that kid that high school football captain that graduated 20 years ago but still won’t let it go and puts himself in situations so he can talk about what he did.
When I watch SX I turn the volume down or off. RC drives me up the wall, and I am no wordsmith myself, but the dude trips on his tongue over and over. He is the G.O.A.T. in this sport, no doubt, big fan of his racing career, just don't like him in the booth. But I have been spoiled by the greatest to ever do that job, David Bailey.
C'mon man that Blair's breakdown interaction was Ricky trying to be funny. People do this all the time on a normal day at the track. I wouldn't assume as much as you are.
I Still Think Larry Mires, Dave Despaine, And Art Ekman are the best announcers the sport has ever seen, If i spelled there names wrong, My BAD, But they ruled the broadcast booth for so many years, Indoor and Outdoor, Best rider Broadcaster would be Adam Cianciarulo, He knows the history of the sport in and out, And can recall different races throughout history at the drop of a hat, What this guy did to this one, Why this track looks ol school from back in when the hell ever, Hell id rather Have GYPSY Tails in there, At least hes been around the sport and he knows the ins and outs of all the bull that has went on throughout out the years, Daniel Knows his History Shit to and the future stars come through the ranks, Just like one other guy, Whos that, Ow yeeeeaaaaa, Jason, The Wwweeeeggggggg, And Weeeggggg, Does all kind of two wheel announceing, Gncc,Supercross,Sprint Enduro, Flat track, Motocross, Let the Dang fans vote on who we want to pay to be there, If it wasn't for us, They wouldn't have a job, Ow yea that makes to much since, Then these damn pencil pushers wouldn't have a job to justify
I've always said for a long time Ricky is horrible at announcing but I have noticed him being a jerk to Daniel for awhile and also that other announcer dude that Daniel would do the race day live with. When him and Ricky were together announcing he was such a stuck up jerk to him as well, putting him down because of his age live. What a prick.
DB is a professional through and through. Very impressed with his work on the broadcast and sticking it through. I think it’s been obvious that Ricky has been threatened for a while. I think it was the first time DB was play by play that Ricky started throwing jabs at him. I feel bad for DB because he worked his absolute ass off to get where he did. I hope this didn’t sour his enjoyment of broadcasting completely because he is one of the best. Maybe one day we can see him on a football broadcast like he has talked about on the pod. I don’t watch football but I would to hear him announce.
I don’t notice how good or bad broadcasters are because I only care about the racing. Ricky can stay or go and it wouldn’t make a difference for me personally. But dude, to hint at Ricky juicing during his career is ridiculous. He hired Aldon Baker and outworked everyone. Same thing Dungey did, and Osborne, and Anderson, and Villopoto, and countless other champions that copied the model that Carmichael pioneered, and then went on to have the most success of their careers. Ricky was a champion at every level his whole life. He just took his game to another level when he figured out he couldn’t win in the premier class. Tee off on him as a person, a broadcaster, and anything else. But the dude out trained, and out rode everyone he competed against. That’s just a fact.
Wow that's crazy!! I dated his first cousin several years ago and hung at his parents house and they treated me life family! But I see the way he tears down Daniel on tv which is sad. I love DB in the booth over the rest of them. Sad! Glad he has the ktm thing.
All these dummies in the comments saying "yeah RC is a backstabber" "and a jerk" "he's toxic" blah blah, seem to forget that RC would go out of his way to speak with you, even if briefly, sign your stuff, get a picture with you, if you were to bump into him somewhere- whether it be the track, or anywhere else. That dude takes time for the fans. I feel like that should count for something.
maybe call Jimmy Albertson get him up in the booth 😉 ,,,, truthfully I like it when we get Stewart in there. His character and knowledge is great to have ......... on the downside of things I don't know Ricky personally but in regards to him as a broadcaster over the years and in interviews etc. He can seem a bit argent maybe (probably the wrong word but you probably get what I'm trying to say). Grant Langston seemed to rub me the wrong way in the same way if that makes sense.......... Daniel Blair definitely gets 👍
I remember the arlington race when Ricky said those things and remember hearing random jabs at other races as well. Thank you for giving followers a taste of the goats' rotten milk... Its an udder disgrace to Daniel's great personality and talent at his craft of announcing!
damn this is the first im hearing this. i never had a problem with rc in the booth but daniel blair is the best commentator in the sport. you can get rid of anyone else and i can live with it but this is gonna hurt the supercross broadcast if hes gone. and does this mean no more blairs breakdown?
Daniel is really good at what he does, no doubt. I am really surprised to hear what you said about RC, I had no idea. What a shame. Daniel could talk circles around RC, without question.
Ricky literally just graduated HS. Ricky is on repeat says the same thing every race and trips over words. DB was much better. I gave ricky a complement at a private event when he first went into broadcasting, knowing he was struggling with it. he then hit on my girlfriend, good thing she was a solid foot taller than him.
Totally Bullshit regarding RC and Daniel Blair. You should get to know this word. SLANDER: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation.
wow, just being honest! Sometimes, I feel like you can be a bit of conspiracy theorist. I just went and watched that Blairs breakdown and you are spot on! Who does that?
When I heard that Daniel was stepping down I was bummed. I watch every race and it was definitely better when Daniel was in the booth and on the track. They are definitely losing a lot without Daniel. It will be interesting to see who they trot out next
Blair (and Emig) ARE the best two announcers in the sport. Ricky feels threatened because for the first time in his life he isn't the best at something.
I’m honestly not your biggest fan (your ego is a little over the edge), but I respect your knowledge about the sport. Your ego and some balls allowed for an awesome episode. RC is a dick and very few people would have balls to say it especially on camera, good job. PS Daniel Blair is one of the best commentators to come to TV on a while.
Haha, I do my best to use my ego as fuel, but it’s a fine line. In my videos I ramp it up, it's entertainment 🤷♂️. I think if you actually met me you would have a different opinion, at least I would hope.
RC sucks at announcing, he comes off as arrogant, Emig was better and I am not a fan of him either. JS7 has way more personality in front of the camera than Ricky will ever have. FYI I read where RC just got his high school GED this year and apparently he struggled with that, so fast as F on a dirt bike, but not a sharp fella with the books, and hey, words are hard sometimes, not judging. As they say, be careful about meeting your hero's, the real person may not be who you think they are.
@@churchofbrap876 There is another old saying. Be careful of who you step on, while on your way to the top, as you will meet those same people you stepped on, on the way back down. With that said, people remember who and when somebody F'd them over in the past, and will use that knowledge in the future to make sure it does not happen twice. So be ruthless, be cutthroat, getting to the top of the mountain, just know it will be a miserable existence on the way back down the mountain and into reality.
I met the GOAT and Bubba back in 2006 in the pits in phoenix before the main I was 6 foot and 185 pound desert racer and RC looked up at me and did a double take like I was gonna steal his lunch money that day hahaha
Great video and thanks for calling it like it is. People forget some of the questionable shi... Carmichael did when he was on top. This is why we need some old school knowledge about the past and present! Keep up the great work!
I did not know this about DB. It's kind of upsetting, he brought so much rizz to the shows. I had noticed the LCQ comments always seemed to flow from Ricky, but DB always handled it with grace. Over this past year I have noticed Carmichael has been struggling with his speech and thoughts while commentating. Adding DB to the booth would have only made him look better, not threatened him. Doesn't make sense, but I guess anytime money is thrown in the ring all sense goes out the window. Maybe he'll do what Fro did and go to the world supercross series to shine. I really hope that DB isn't completely gone from the MX/SX scene. As for Fro, I really think that he's just trying to kill with kindness. Maybe he just doesn't believe its worth the effort for the drama. He seems to be a bit more humble, but then again I only get to see the TV personalities and don't know any of these guys in person. They could all be asshats for all I know.
Cooksey I’m not gonna lie I’m pretty sure you missed the mark here. There’s literally no reason Blair would be a threat to Ricky. The color commentator for supercross has always been a past champion like Emig or Ricky. They wouldn’t put a guy like Blair in there who struggled make mains. Blair would have been in the main commentator spot like how he was when he fills in for Diffey. I also find it hard to believe that Ricky alone has enough power to push Blair out of the commentating team. It was most likely a corporate decision.
RC and Leigh convinced NBC executives (who don't know jack shit about the sport ) that Leigh is better than Daniel. I am speculating based on history as to why RC had it out for Daniel.
@@CookseyMedia I can see why Leigh would feel threatened by Daniel but I still don’t personally see why RC would feel threatened by him. Also I feel like in literally any situation NBC would go with Leigh over Daniel. He’s their main guy and has been for a VERY long time. You’ll see him announcing literally everything with a motor in it for NBC. You say that RC also wanted to push him out and I guess I’m just gonna have to take what you’re saying at face value.
"Rex Staten" - is cracking up and shaking his noggin !!! Mitch Payton is like "WhaaaaaT" !!! BamBam be like - "Yeah-What Ever" ! Brian Lunniss - is like : I deserved every penny !!! Keith McCarthy is mumbling - all i said was - "Let Broc Buy !!! "Sheeeiii-eeiitt"
Well.. James had much more natural talent on the track.. and it appears he has much more in the broadcast booth as well.. and its a train Ricky probably cant stop toot toot !
Actually I’m deeply sadden for the simple fact Blair would make interviews fun! Just by him razing guys and joking around you could see riders that were more on the shy side come out of their shell cause of him.. 😞
At Loretta’s Carmichael tried to pick up my buddy’s girlfriend while his wife was pregnant with his twins. My buddy was also the cousin of one of Carmichaels training partners. Changed the whole way I looked at him.
