its not really fair to try to compare them. leigh diffey serves a much different purpose to the broadcast than daniel blair. he just has that excitement in his announcing style that gets the viewers excited when riders are battling. ive seen him announcing in superbike, indycar, f1, wec. theres a reason hes used so much in so many different disciplines of motorsport. his role is to get viewers emotionally engaged in the action while daniel blairs role is more analytical to inform viewers of different aspects of the sport.
Been watching supercross for 25 years and Daniel was the best announcerby far. He gave us access to riders that we haven't seen before. The riders open up to him because he is just one of the boys. Will be missed
Stew and Blair need to be in the booth together on race day. They're the most smooth talking announcers, detailed analysts and creative reporters on the mic. For the people who watch every weekend those two are the best in the biz.
Daniel Blair is like the glue that held that whole thing together. He always knows what he's talking about, understands race craft as well as the ins and outs of the business of SX and knows who each and every rider is. The guys is a legit expert. That's who you need in the booth. That's your color commentator. He will be truly missed. I, for one, feel like the series will be lacking without his knowledge and finesse when it comes to the broadcast. Hope he has huge success in the future. Huge!
I cannot stand Leigh and reading comments on other platforms I'm not the only one that feels that way. I absolutely enjoy listening to Daniel and he does an amazing job at whatever he's doing. I'll miss listening to him every week.
RC literally LOATHED how much attention & respect the real core MX fans gave & will continue to give to DB. Lets not even elaborate on the fact to RC being hella insecure to DB quick wit & knowledge that has & could expose his weakness at any time. Yes, RC rode a MC better but, DB announces, commentates, analyzes ect... better. I'm not sure when but, we will see DB back without doubt.. the dudes flat out... A Moto Stud!

Daniel does a way better job than all of them. NBC has kinda ruined supercross and motocross. It was way better with other networks. Daniel shoulda been in the booth every race IMO.
I'd like Leigh to go back to Dakar , l miss his work calling that event . Nothing ever lasts when we like something , we will miss DB badly , same as Grant & Weege doin the Nationals .
Here's my theory. Almost everything that I like in this world gets taken away very quickly. Everything from a certain item in a vending machine at work, to my favorite flavor of a certain protein bar but they still make every other flavor, tv shows that get canceled after a season or 2, to now Daniel Blair on the SX broadcasts. I hate Leigh Diffey, I hate Todd Harris, I really hated that guy that DV said he muted the TV every time he talked. I think Daniel is right up there with David Bailey. He knows the sport inside and out and he's very, very good at explaining it in a way that everyone can understand without insulting us hardcore fans. Please come back Daniel, we miss you.
Couldn't have said it better. We love this sport, but I'm not sure the higher ups know the fans. But I'm sure they do know the fans. They just don't like them.
Pretty sure your theory is solid. It seems that quite a significant portion of the world population end up with almost everything they don't want in life while what you truly desire always seem to escape your grasp. Just my humble observation. Meanwhile I'm going to try really hard not wanting to win this week's lotto😂.
Daniel is fantastic, big loss to Feld he is leaving. IMO he and Weege are the guys to take SX forward, no need to parachute commentators from other sports when Jason and Daniel can do the job from all angles and roles and know the sport so well.
Really enjoyed you during sx DB. Great personality & comfort ability with the riders. Really can’t stand the hyped up door knobs getting hired to cover a sport they truly know nothing about. You’ll be missed buddy
the reality is Feld is missing the boat even more than just flaking out on Blair. The best SX announcer is sitting next to Blair. He described the action on the internet audio broadcasts so well that I could picture in my mind the racing action. RC doesn't begin to have that skill. Put Holley and Blair in the booth and it would be iconic....
Class act by Blair to not throw Ricky under the bus here the way R.C. did to him. Give the fans a vote between Ricky and Blair and...I think it'd be pretty close. Blair is such a better analyst and commentator.
I feel like Steve nailed it with his theory on DB leaving. I always thought they used Daniel like a multi tool. Feld and NBC need to quit screwing around and give us some consistency in the booth. I'm sick of hearing the riders called the wrong names ect. It shows how little preparation and give-a-shit some of these guys have for the sport. Daniel was always on his game and had a great interaction with the riders one on one.
I think Cooksey hit the nail on the head and nobody is will admit it or say the actual truth. I'm not a big Cooksey fan either but I believe he's right about what happened and let's be honest here nobody is picking Carmichael or Diffy to be in that booth because they are both horrible absolutely horrible. Ricky Carmichael might be the goat and yes he's an amazing champion but he's garbage as a commentator. He does the sport a huge injustice and if he had an ounce of respect for himself or the sport he would let someone else do the job so the sport can benefit and grow but he will never step aside because he's to arrogant. You can go on every forum or podcast and everyone says the same thing, Ricky is horrible and has never improved not one but. Every other person that has been in the booth was and is light-years better.
@@hamonrye9823lol his dynamic knowledge is just saying “well back when I raced and won everything I would do this… then I won every moto that year and did you know back in my day I would think this” rc is my favorite rider but he’s terrible at talking and seems drunk all the time. “If you win every moto, you can’t win the championship” 😂
Daniel ran circles around Lee Iffy.. by far the best and most relatable announcer among the bunch. He and Weege are two of the best in the booth, very impressive.
Daniel Blair is the dude!! Always entertaining whether he’s in the booth, Blair’s Breakdown, whatever. Not many folks that can be in any spot necessary & be awesome at it. Wish him all the success moving forward!
I forget who was interviewing him at the time but a few years ago, Bob Hannah just straight up said that Blair should be the guy in the booth and not RC. His words were a little less gentle than my description of the statement. Anyway, I got a chuckle out of that.

Agreed. RC says the exact same thing every race. I honestly think RC is worried the success of riders like ET, Sexton, Jett & others will (continue) slowly make his ancient, (Dallas Cowboys esque) accomplishments become less and less amazing because the next generation of Ricky's & Bubba's are not only reaching that same level of 'elite riders' but taking it to another level as well. Maybe the 'GOAT' is a moniker RC is realizing he won't hold forever.. and Ricky may be saddened that his years of praise are coming to an end. He's become Aikman & Collinsworth of SX
Blair should be the lead on all announcing for SX and Motocross. He brings the knowledge and expertise to grow the sport. I don't know why we keep ending up with the revolving door of announcers
Man Daniel , I've gone to bat for you more times than I can count on Vital. We met a few times way back in the day , as I was friends with Tiger Lacey as well. Anyways man , no matter what you end up doing , I wish you the best.
Blair's breakdown will be missed! Daniel has such a great rapport with ALL the riders as too mechanics & Team owners etc. He seems to be on a level with them so much though he can ask them 'just-about-anything'! Other announcers such as Todd & Liegh do other sports & thus may have a 'fan-base' of their own, thus... do you think that they have been 'prioritised' over Daniel in the hope that their fans from other sports follow over to SX? ... It's the only 'logical' reason I can think of -'off the top of my head'... Daniel is soooo good in all areas of SX coverage!
Blair and Waigett are both great at announcing. Charmichael says the same stupid stuff every race. I'm going to miss having Daniel Blair doing his part in the sport.
I knew from the first time I saw Daniel on a broadcast, he was a guy to watch. I remember chatting with him years ago about getting back on a bike and noticed that no one knew he was. He’s a solid guy
Daniel Blair is natural in the booth. He, unlike the “voice” announcers, knows everything about the sport: the individual riders, technique, bike set up etc…When he provides analysis, either track side or in the booth, it’s relevant to the what’s happening in the race. His real skill where he outshines JS7, RC or JE is that he has the ability to think and multitask while he’s announcing. He can instantly switch from whatever point he’s trying to make, comment on something that just happed in real time, then complete his original thought. I don’t think that’s a coachable skill. Also, he doesn’t rely on tired race cliche’s for filler- hitting his marks and he doesn’t look like he’s trying for example. . Bummed that he and Feld parted ways. Our loss.

I’ve said this for the past 2 seasons , Some of the blokes in the booth don’t even know the riders names. Hands down including RC Daniel is the best in the booth. There’s times where Ricky screws up on riders names and gets things wrong. Get Todd and Lee out of there they don’t know our sport. Daniel top of the list every rd.
Blair is really good and all the others have their own glaring weaknesses. The future should be AC when he retires. When he has guested while recovering from his way too often injuries he has been stellar!!!

Absolutely RIDICULOUS! I actually reached out to Daniel Blair a few months back to let him know just how damn good he is for the Broadcast! I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in talk radio, I know real talent, and Daniel is real Talent! Ricky was amazing on two wheels, James was the best ever on two wheels…. Daniel is more qualified than both Ricky & James combined, when it comes to the command of the English language and how to entertain an audience 👊💥
We need Daniel Blair, Grant Langston, and Weege in the booth! RC is horrible, Diffy is horrible, Todd Harris is horrible and Ralph was horrible. I’m almost 100% sure RC pushed Blair out. Cooksey did a video about it on RU-vid and from what I heard was Blair didn’t say he was wrong but that’s all he would say about it. SX was way way better with Daniel in the booth. Get rid of RC
DB is certainly top 3 in moto announcing. Obviously Weege and Art Eckman being the other 2. JS is refreshing. RC doesn't know when to shut up and makes long winded statements. Perhaps GL would be an honorable mention. There's lots of good announcers in moto over the decades for sure but I don't think my top 3 can be contested as far as being interesting, having fluidity when speaking, knowing backstories and behind the scenes info mid sentence, etc.
It's that Daniel is best in the booth, and when he says something Ricky just repeats it as his own. Get Emig and Shaheen back in there. Ralph to hype with Blair and Emig as awesome commentary.
