Karl is a truly great man. I love his honesty. And he's humble. Best of all he says 'thank you' in his interviews. Politeness and gratitude are good qualities.
yeah, you can tell which camera is live by a little red flashing LED but unless you are used to where all the cameras are it takes a moment to find which one it is
The interviewer said Ricky and Karl were meant to say “welcome to the show” at the beginning and Karl just thought she was talking to him and said “thanks for having us” 😂
I'm not a morning person, so that horrific, deafening silence that accompanies BBC breakfast makes me come out in a cold sweat as it reminds me of the days when I have to get up at 5:30am for work. I REALLY can't do early starts.
For real he's smarter than all of them will ever be, I just don't get it beause they followed a route everyone told them life was about they think they're better. It doesn't make fucking sense.
I think its funny when ricky said karl was arrogant for wanting to call his show karl pilkington's bucket list when ricky named the animated hbo show simply ''the ricky gervais show'' haha
I think you misunderstood the source of my mirth, Sir, as well as my comment. It was neither a case of degree of fame nor any implied arrogance. I suggest you watch the clip again. I was not taking the piss of Ricky Gervais. Duh is American for not understanding irony but being sarcastic when not really getting the point. Well played!
The mediocre news correspondents are laughing at him as if it's an exclusive club that Karl's not part of. Karl is probably one of the most interesting people I've ever seen, he's not pretentious, doesn't pander to those on TV & film & it must get these people's back up that he doesn't fawn over them. He's smart, he's funny without trying to be, he's a breath of fresh air.
His genuine normalcy is what I love about Karl. Even in the old days listening to the XFM shows with Ricky and Steve, I knew he was a national treasure in the making :)
@@Milamberinx I'd argue that he definitely isn't idiotic, he become head of production at XFM before he met Gervais so he must have some gift of the gab attributes about him.
lmao thats my favorite part of the whole season 2 of idiot abroad "how high was it?" "it was about 4 foot" *continues to say it was 5 foot infront of the camera as if it didnt pick up the other guys voice*
I disagree. I think he's perfectly capable mentally and actually seems to think deeply and analyse. What I believe is going on is a big lack of confidence and no pretense. He lacks the fake mask many people especially in the media wear. That is a big part of what makes him brilliant to watch.
Passive aggressive hosts - "wait for them to warm up". It's your show, the presenters trying to palm off the work to their guests and then being stiff the whole interview.
These presenters were subliminally pretty rude at the beginning. Demanding Ricky and Karl set the tone for the interview. It's their job to engage the guest don't get all arsey because you're not ready to present a morning show.
And the way she said hello welcome to the show to karl was unbelievably condescending as if she was talking to a fucking vegetable... i hope she felt like shit after.
I think Gervais genuinely likes Karl. Ricky can call anyone an idiot. That's his way of testing if they're real. Karl gives him something close to that impossible dream. That means that Gervais is the only person on the planet who could have first seen the potential in Karl. They're both geniuses in their own way.
Oh my god! I watched this series at least 5 years ago. I remember telling my sister about it. I remember telling her how great Karl was with people!!! People with whom he had little in common besides them both being people!! I love Karl!!
"I think when someone's annoyed me, you kinda get a bit of an adrenaline thing, and then that keeps me happy. I'm quite happy moaning." - Karl Pilkington
You gotta love Karls honesty. Plus he is genuinely funny- he doesn't even have to try to make you laugh. lol @ go on, you jump off that table. Can't wait for the moaning of life, part 2. I believe Ricky when he says that Karl is the funniest person he has ever met.
They both have a morning face, aw. I think Karl is mixing up this with The One Show that usually has that over the top laughter from the camera man, making it seem like the BBC is a part of the common folk lol.
Karl becomes officially the first person to ever wave at the camera at the end of the news at 9:04 rather than pretending to talk and shuffling papers...
An Idiot Abroad is one of my favorite Tv shows ever. Such a great idea, taking your grumpy pessimistic friend from Manchester and sending him around the world. And he sees the world completely upside down anyway so it was always going to be entertaining. I liked Moaning of life, but i would love to see another series of Idiot Abroad.
It's not a formal introduction, but it's used by people from all walks of life, from all over the country as an informal greeting. It's the more contemporary form of "how do you do?" where the response is a repetition of the original greeting.
I dont know much about Karl Pilkington, but he's a good fella, anyone can tell. Open-hearted, genuine and loveable. He's really like a child. You just wanna squeeze him. :)
My favourite Karl moment was back in the Xfm days, I can't remember if it was Ricky or Steve, but one of them said that earlier that had heard Karl say to himself, "I must remember to eat, next time Susan is away"
