Yeah probably the worst interviewer ever, why would you bring up insults between people and say "what are some phrases you would use to insult Ricky" what the fuck lmao
From 9 mins 52 when Ricky and Steve start riffing and role playing.......THAT is what I miss from the old XFM shows. The way they bounce off each other is fucking genius.
+Daniel P I think they still role play on the newer shows, but only when Karl comes out with a silly story and Ricky and Steve don't believe a word of it, so they just like teasing Karl and challenging his brain, just by role-playing and taking the piss out of him XD But they did work off each other really well on the old shows XD I actually love Steve's reaction when Ricky was asking about profiteroles and Steve chokes on his drink and goes "Thanks for asking, mate." x'D
+Daisy Chambers haha you're everywhere, any XFM show, podcast or random thing to do with the boys I see you all over the comments. Good work, keep it up! I miss the insight into their lives week by week, like the whole pub quiz stuff, and when Ricky opened the door to Karl with his tackle out dressed like something out of the Sopranos (best tv show ever btw). Shame they all went their separate ways.
If I had a pound for every time I heard that .. I'd keep it xD I know.. a lot of people have said this to me.. I get it a lot, and usually my answer to that is that I'm a big fan of them. I listen to them when I paint and draw, they're like comfort, listening to their voices. They cheer me up too XD Oh I know... I miss them.. even though they talked bollocks... it was good radio! Radio isn't very good nowadays, but XFM was just quality radio.. despite being called a "Tin Pot radio station" XD
+XxKINGatLIFExX That would be massively entertaining with those three as hosts. It'd be the first TV show I would actually give a shit about in the last 5 years.
They spent hundreds of hours together and he asked "Do you want to get them back with your own phrases" Karl gives as good as he gets 😂 I agree strange line and vibe of questions, trying to pull Ricky up for goggle-eyed-freak. No insults please, this is a joke free zone.
9:54 I just realised that Ricky is just trying to annoy the producers at this point by keep asking Stephen questions about the food and he joins in trying to make it longer because they were supposed to finish.
10:15 funniest side discussion to end the clip with. and Karl's face all the way through it xD "ya thinking perfetta rolls, or ya thinking like a trifle or what?" sips drink... "thanks for asking mate" xD
I love ricky, but like i dont understand how ricky couldnt have just did the wedding clip. for him to go "i dont know you" is kind of a dick move. i mean its only a bit of fun man =/
I know from a previous interview/standup show/whatever it was: Ricky doesn't like his fame being referred to. Someone asked him what tips he could give anyone wanting to become famous and he said it really pissed him off, so he said "kill a prostitute", just because his fame shouldn't be the lone motivation to meet him or whatever. So he probably got annoyed at the interviewer asking him to come to a wedding, a place you wouldn't otherwise invite a complete stranger. because let's face it, that's why the interviewer asked him: because of Ricky's fame
Well who wouldnt want Ricky at their wedding? Lol that would be amazing. But youre really getting to deep into the question lol. He asked him to come to the wedding, he dosent know him so he said no. Thats basically it. No big explanation needed mate. Cheers
The guy made an entertaining bit of tv he knows they’ll use that wedding thing as ammo for a joke. What you think this guy asked RICKY GERVAIS to say something nice because he thought it’d be a good wedding gift? Certainly would be better than if he didn’t ask that.
I agree, even the part with Karl saying weddings are shit and there’s no reason to get married anymore. This would be absolute gold to play at a wedding.
I've watched this interview a few times, but it's only this time I noticed Karl's staring at Steve @4:57 - 5:04. THAT FACE! No one will ever be as funny as Karl, he's so unique it's ridiculous!
Not easy. Used to think the same before getting to journalism school. The trick is to act natural and not as if it was addressed to an audience in a professional way
You are obviously new to pilkington, they have been friends for like 12 years, karl does not hate it! He has made literally millions from it and he is always miserable, whether Rick is there or not!
Right at the end were Ricky and Steve are talking about food for a wedding and Karl's sat there inbetween just waiting for the conversation to change made me laugh. I hope they make a 3rd series anyone else agree? :)
I got the impression that Karl is an unusually mild-mannered bloke who isn't easily offended. He might not like every bit of it, but he's friends with Ricky, so he puts up with his ideas and jokes. I loved his expression at the end of this video, it's like "what the f* are these two talking about?" Makes it even funnier.
The funniest part of interviewing this trio is how rapidly the interviewer ceases to exist. You only need one question to open things up, they'll do the rest.
All these people talking shit about the interviewer but he’s more intelligent than the lot of yous behind 😂 you really think he thought ricky gervais would say something sweet and lovely for his fiancée? No! He just knows he’s sat in front of the best trio to ever happen to british comedy and he did his job which in this scenario involved taking advantage of that and making an entertaining, hilarious bit of tv. What did you expect, hard talk? The ending was hilarious and finished with a bang, he knew that would happen and so gave them that ammunition. How is that not obvious 😂 don’t need to be Rupert murdoch to see that surely
What I find incredibly ironic is, the whole scenario plays out just like how the Elephant man was exhibited and made money off of. But in the end, in this instance, Karl comes out on top.
i love interviews with the three lads, you'll notice in almsot all their interviews they always end up just talking between each other, the interviewer's always find it hard to get a word in lol,
Can we please just have a show with the 3 of them talking. Not the audiobooks or the Ricky Gervais Show because you can't see Karl's face like it was at the end of this video. That's just priceless.
Massive LOL!!!! The best interview I've ever seen with these 3 in it. And my opinion why the guys asked them a reason not to go to his wedding is a character-profiling question that reveals a lot of deep-embedded traces of education and culture in the ones answering personalities.
"If he's watching this and hasn't paid a thing towards it, what a stingy bastard". Stephen Merchant has always been the funniest of the group. And he does look like Clint Eastwood in this. He makes my day.
