Ricky Skaggs came to sing in Juneau Alaska several years ago. We went to the concert. The next day I called my mom who lived in Colorado. I said, “guess who we saw in concert.” She said, “ give me a hint”. Hint- “country, gospel and blue grass”. She said “that would be Ricky Skaggs. ❤

I am a member of AOG. I followed David Wilkerson, Jimmy Swaggart Ministries Faithfully! I grew up in Church of God of Prophecy at the age of 9-10 revival. I was Born Again. God is mighty to save in Christ Jesus & Thru The Holy Spirit. I am so grateful to be Pentecostal. Also grateful for all religions whom hold up Christ Jesus Lamb of God and His Sacrifice on That old rugged Cross for our cleansing & the ability to have The Holy Spirit‼️🙏 🙏📖🕯️🩸✝️🩸🕯️📖🙏 So grateful Jerry Lee Lewis became saved before passing. Music is a powerful evangelist and can seep through and break down walls of the nonbeliever. Worked for both my sons (along with constant prayers,of course), but once I was saved we listened to nothing but worship music and it helped bring them to faith. Thankful to Ricky and others for keeping the old ways alive 🥰

Amazing! I love a fellow Kentuckian. Funny sidebar. I know Eric was on Chynna Phillips California Preachin. Her famous Mom, Michelle Phillips told us on her bucket list was to meet Ricky Skaggs. We arranged him to call her on her birthday & it made her giddy. Hope they meet in person & Ricky can introduce her to Jesus.

Wow I didn't know Eric Metaxas's spoke in tongues. I got the whole thing too. Believe it or not Mrs Billy Graham taught Sunday school for the college age kids at Montreat Anderson Jr. College where I was a freshman and she gave me a bible and and told me to believe everything in it. I did. Salvation at 18 and Baptism in the spirit at 19.

I come from a musical background in hard rock and metal, but I was floored when I first heard Ricky Scaggs. Exceptionally gifted musician, yes. But it was something more. His music was always good in the larger sense, it was clean, warm, and inviting (as well as often raucously fun and humorous!). After I came to the LORD, I felt that Ricky’s music in general was Godly. Now I see in this great interview that he carried the elements of his childhood faith through his career, even if his songs didn’t overtly mention God. Thanks Ricky, and thank you Eric for a great interview.

I got to see Ricky Skaggs in concert in the mid 80’s and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to (a triple feature with him, Merle Haggard and George Straight.) What an amazing performer and humble man. And what an incredible testimony! It’s incredible the singers he performed with and yet he didn’t seem to fall into the bad paths that some of them did. I always loved the great Keith Whitley’s singing , and didn’t realize that he and Ricky had that close relationship. What a difference their paths ended up on. Thank you so much for reaffirming what a Godly man he is. (By the way, Eric sounds exactly like my accountant😂)

Have always loved Ricky. My uncle used to work him on their job sites doing painting and such on places in Nashville and those surrounding areas I believe. Ricky used to bring his guitar and play during breaks and kept them entertained my Uncle said. Found that so cool. Saw Ricky in person here at the Santa Train a few years back in Kingsport, TN. I was so glad to actually finally see and hear him in person. Still great.

I've seen Ricky Skaggs perform three times in my life. The first time was in 1979 when "Don't Get Above Your Raisin' ", his first hit....was hot and playing on the radio. The second time was in 1985 when he about the hottest country music performer going. The third time was in 2008 with Kentucky Thunder when he started back playing strictly bluegrass. Ricky is the real deal.... musically, professionally, and personally. If you've never been to see him perform, you are absolutely cheating yourself. God bless Ricky Skaggs and his family. i have enormous affection for ricky and when he was talking about god using imperfect people and suggesting trump might make a great president, it was best endorsement the wildly imperfect man could have gotten. i don't have faith in trump but i continue to love and have faith in ricky for what he's meant to my family and myself. thanks for having him on.

I love this interview, especially in how you and Ricky talk about the importance of music, salvation, the Holy Spirit and communion with God. I am having an event in my hometown of Martinsburg, WV in September. I have hired a wonderful Southern Gospel and Bluegrass band that was raised in classical music. They are fantastic. There name is Southern Raised. Have you had them on your show? So my event is to raise awareness to the community and especially the churches of the devastation of addiction and how Jesus can break those chains to bring recovery.
