To be fair Ricochet was never given to main event push. He didn’t have to win but if he was given more than just 1 min against Brock, it would’ve been a taste to see if he could sell. Too bad it never happened.

I mean clearly there are some people HHH values more and Ricochet may not have been one of those people. It’s night and day how Vince booked Chad Gable and how HHH booked him and that was enough for Chad to re-sign…Ricochets booking to me has looked about the same from Vince to HHH.

It's pretty clear who booked Chad Gable better, while the latter had Chad get fed to Brock Lesnar. Ricochet was already damaged goods, thanks to Vince, when Triple H took over last year. For example, he got buried by Brock in 1 minute and when he was IC champ and Vince had to pick him out of all people to get fed to Austin Theory in 2 minutes. HHH tried to bring his aura back but couldnt. At least he made Ricochet goes out the exit in a good way.

No, you can fully blame Triple H. If he wanted to use Ricochet, he’d have done it. Ricochet is 35, in wrestling terms, that’s young. Asuka I think was 35 (or abouts) when she signed and she’s gotten 8 years of upper midcard to main event usage. Ricochet could have….if Triple H saw him as that. He obviously didn’t, correctly so I would say.

Yes Paul Heyman tried that with Cesaro, but the reason why the Puma gimmick worked and the Cesaro one didn't isn't because Cesaro is uninteresting as a character. Puma had intrigue and mystery, he was an underdog, and that's a guy you want to get behind.

NXT was for hardcore wrestling fans. Being an amazing in ring wrestler is most important to those fans. Main roster fand need more than just good wrestler. Gable for example is one HHH has fixed because he is not only a good wrestler but also has charisma and good promo skills.

100% - Some people are simply not meant for the main event, no matter how great of a worker. We all desperately wanted Dolph Ziggler in that main event spot, but not only did he not present as a main event attraction, but he may be the greatest, most solid mid-carder in the last 25 years. He sold his ass off, and made all of his opponents look like a million bucks. Virtually anyone who rose to the main event after 2007 went through Dolph Ziggler to get there, because he made them look so good. And let's be honest, the vast majority of wrestlers, of any era, would envy the career that Dolph Ziggler/Nic Nemeth has had. The ceiling is higher for Ricochet in AEW, but he's still not world champion material, no matter what promotion he's in.

Knight was a jobber who presented himself as a champion, while Ricochet and Nemeth present themselves as midcarders. It's in the mindset. Ricochet especially is legendary in the indies; he could retire today and call himself a success.

The difference is that Rey was already really popular when he came to WWE from WCW, and he provided something really different from what WWE was offering at the time. When Rey came in, WWE wasn't featuring many (if any) masked luchadores. Rey changed that, and he certainly benefited from the push that smaller guys at the time like Eddie and Benoit got. Ricochet didn't have any of that. He's was an incredibly athletic guy in a field of other athletic guys who didn't cut a good promo and wasn't visually distinctive aside from his athleticism. But athleticism can only get you so far in a business where image is often more important than anything else. The absolute best outcome for Ricochet would've been something similar to what Kofi KIngston had, but therein lies the problem: the WWE already had Kofi Kingston. Ricochet never had the groundswell of support that Kofi had, so repeating that with someone not nearly as charismatic as Kofi would've fallen flat, then the complain would've been that Ricochet got squashed, ala Kofi, by someone like Brock. The reality is that some wrestlers think they can do more, and they have unrealistic expectations. Thankfully for Ricochet, AEW is around to give him stupid money to do what everyone else in that company can do. Work less, make more money, and still be a mid-card guy in a company filled with mid-card at best talent.

Then saw enough in him to move him to the main roster….then they wanted him to stay and were trying to get him to sign a new contract but you think he was not marketable.
