Nice review. I’ve been on the look out for a Caplio G model that cover 28mm but these models are getting very hard to find. I’ve been fortunate enough to own the G3 Pro model that cover 35-105mm focal length and made of magnesium body. The G3 model was designed by an architect and industrial designer M. Kurosawa. That’s why it fit comfortable in the hands and looks like a piece of artwork. There are other unique features that are interesting to mention as well, such as you can take 3500 shots in power saving mode, sequential shot analysis mode, and 1cm macro you mentioned. All in all, this is a vintage digicam worth collecting and enjoying, IMHO. So sorry yours dies on you.😢
Always entertaining review and great camera, As for the "nostalgia" question; I think you nailed it, but also as tech has improved, I think we lost a connection with they way things operate. older tech seems real, more tactile, now with AI and computational photography maybe people feel we lost the humanity? The past is locked in the past where the future is unknown.
Loved watching this video. I found a G4 for 5€ here in Germany. I have a video on the Ricoh grd. I love the images so much. But the cam is so so super duper slow ; )
Found this camera in my local thriftshop today, 15 dollars. Didnt know if it would work, but it did. I only got one problem, maybe someone in here knows the answer. I took an 32GB SD-card from an old Canon camera i got. deleted all files on the card and tried to format on the G4. It only stands "formating..." for the last 15minuites.
My thoughts would be that the card size is to big. Generally, old digicams max out at 2gb cards. See if you can find a smaller card. I run some of old cameras with 1GB and lower. Hope it helps 👍
