I feel sorry for everyone who bought GR1 series after 2017, their prices have gone up exponentially because key opinion leaders online won't stop hyping them up.

dude, such a good review. I watch so much of this shit and i always get so annoyed by dead space or the speaker just rambling or going off on a tangent. very informative, very well said and brought up all the basic questions one might have. keep it up!

Yup i use to buy gr1s for $150-200 tops. They eventually break down & now there's nowhere to repair so it's not worth paying $300-500 plus for one. That goes for the contax t, t2, t3 etc...

Peter Davison they are not worth it. Most already have dead LCD’s and they are always a second away from dying completely.

Great cameras no doubt, my favourite camera of all time. However, they are ticking time bombs. As Magnum photographer Jacob au Sobel said - One thing is certain with the Ricoh GR1, they all die in the end. And most problems cannot be fixed, Ricoh don't repair them anymore either. On my 4th GR1s right now, here's hoping it goes on for a while yet.

cidereye yup totally agree, they just suddenly stop working. That said I've gotten best keepers photos with the gr1. It always in pocket ready to shoot👍🏾 I probably bought my last one this month because the prices are skyrocketing :(

Great review! A few nits: 1. Pretty sure the body is magnesium not titanium 2. I agree about the power button but my biggest gripe is that all of the electronics are trash and die eventually, especially the buttons and displays.

I have a little issue while using flash on GR1S. Not like other point and shoots, GR1S still shoots on lower shutter speed in lower light conditions even when the flash is forced on, often creating undesired motion blur mixed with flash, instead of freezing a shot like other point and shoots do. I tried setting the exposure meter on minus 2 (lowest exposure), to somehow trick it and make it shoot a bit faster. The motion blur has improved slightly, but still nowhere near what I need it to do. Any ideas?

If you like the Klasse S but wanted a 28mm compliment, why did you not buy the Klasse W with the 28mm f/2.8?

Nice video. I would like to buy this camera but refrain from that because of the reliability problems… Pity you didn’t mention that because it seems a huge problem, even compared to other p&s-cams from the 90’s…. Thanks anyway!

It's way too fragile and awfully expansive. I had mine very cheap and it has been extremely reliable for me. But all my friends paid astronomical prices for theirs and all of those broke in initial uses. It's my favorite camera ever but it's such an awful, unreliable and overpriced camera as of today.
