The man's trying to balance being a father of 6, CEO of a world enterprise, and an effective vigilante in a city that is on the verge of crumbling like wet tissue paper. Sometimes, he's just done with his rogues.
I wanna see a Batman Riddler skit where Batman keeps blurting out answers before the Riddler can finish until he finally just snaps and blows everything up
@@PefectPiePlace2 Yeah no, its perfectly ok to cheat with lives on the line. I know this is a parody video, but heroes SHOULD cheat when lives are at stake. Though even the canon Batman has no qualms about rigging Two Face's coin
He's got a point, you can't really get mad for him not playing fair when he didn't want to play in the first place. You brought this upon yourself Riddler.
Damn straight! Like Batman doesn’t have more pressing concerns than the whiny complaints of some pathetic social reject who has to threaten lives just to feel good about himself! Riddler is just sad. No wonder he rarely makes any major appearances!
@@DamontheDemon7 in more serious meaning its mostly his coustume you just CANT make a villian intimadting with his get up. even penguin has some disgusting traits to add meance to his seemingly comedic apperance jokers personality turns his coustume into a aspect of horror. scarface is creepy when he reveals he can contuine to act even momentairly when not being used as a puppet. while the riddler is just a smart dude wearing pajamas causing choas and havoc out of sheer desire to have someone put up with his minds games. which is honestly the thing that makes riddler pathetic he dosent enjoy hurting other people he just dosent care thus his games hurting people is infuriating with his pathetic reasoning. as he is smart enough to create his game scenarios without actually hurting anyone he just choices not too because "safety takes time" and his boardome wants to be satiated NOW.
Riddler: "Riddle me this Batman! What has holes and rolls in a small alley" Batman: "(Sobs) .... My...My..Parents?" Riddler:"Oh Jesus no it's a bowling ball, sorry about that Oh..."
This reminds me of when Batman defeated the Riddler by telling him that he's not all that special for finding out Batman is Bruce Wayne, considering two or three villains figured it out before he did
Actually wasn't the way he beat him literally just him going "y'know, wouldn't it go against your whole gimmick to just reveal my identity?" I may not be remembering hush right but i think it was something along those lines
@@boredomisinfinity5642 Yep, Riddler basically wins, and then Batman points out that it goes against his MO, at which point Nygma completely self-destructs. Which is kind of sad, considering that Riddler was actually winning.
I looked it up and you are both right I just, for some reason, fixated on a comment Batman makes about how other people know his secret identity, so it isn't all that special
I still remember the comic lol *guesses riddle wrong. Decides to straight up punch riddler* Riddler: the lasers should have killed you the second you moved! Batman: I realized they stopped tracking me
Iirc, he doesn't really give a wrong answer, the actual answer to the riddle was the Gordian Knot, so he answered "a sword", which is what Alexander the Great used on said knot
@@j.a.m.m Yeah but the riddler had a specific sequence of answers that were tied to eachother (iirc) which is why it was *technically* the wrong answer
Yep. He was spitting straight facts when he said this was his only meaningful interaction. He was like a low-key friend of Bats because Bats understood this man.
I mean, imagine going to a bar with Riddler. The irritation the guy would be after four to five beers.. urgh. One would really need a cow's patience with this kind of man.
I love how Riddler’s riddles didn’t stop anything, like if it were a code to access his lair or stop a bomb. He literally tells Batman to answer a riddle when Batman could literally just destroy him right there.
This video really emphasizes how wacky the riddler is conceptually is as a villain and makes me sort of appreciate how the movie riddler uses “classic” riddles for information rather than clues or riddles simply for the sake of having riddles
I remember in the animated film Batman: Assault on Arkham, the character of Amanda Waller is very unapologetic about looking up answers for Riddler’s riddles. Writers themselves know that Riddler is a hard character to use.
@@marcosbravo9645 That's the thing, yeah. You pretty much have to invent an original riddle for him that doesn't feel too easy AND also isn't too difficult to reason out for the audience. It's why the Arkham games just have him with these easy puzzles and hand-wave it as "Oh, he's losing his edge because he's going increasingly crazy from being beaten all the time."
Reminds me of the 1966 Batman movie, where the Riddler keeps sending riddles to Batman and Robin, until the other villains ask him to stop because he gives away clues that just hinder their plans.
From “Suicide Squad: Assault on Arkham” Riddler: “What is something you own, but other people use it most?” Waller: “Your name.” Riddler: “…You’ve heard that one?” Waller: “No. I have Google, like the rest of the world.”
I said, “Riddle me this Batman,” to my mom when she asked me to do some impossible task. She got a chuckle out of it, before proceeding to smack the shit out of me.
It's in the Geneva Convention, actually. Article 4, Section 7, §4.1 B *-If he's a terrorist, you may use Google on any test, riddle, crossword, or quiz game he forces you to participate in.*
This video kind of showcases the struggle of writing the Riddler in a modern setting, which is probably why the character seems avoided and seldom used in any real extent in newer movies. He became almost a joke character, which contrasted greatly with the menace he used to inspire. This is why I love "The Batman" from 2022, and the fact that they not only used the Riddler, but made him the primary villain. They altered him to better fit a modern world, and made his puzzles and riddles more obscure, or added elements to them that made simply looking up the answer much harder or impossible altogether. Not everyone liked the new look and direction, but I personally loved it, and feel that this depiction of the character brought him back so to speak, a made him more relevant for a modern setting.
This is funny as hell, but I mainly just appreciate that this is an unquestionably good guy Batman who actually is clearly more sane than the villains that keep projecting onto him than the overdone narrative that they're not so different.
OK, I hear you. Counterpoint. He's still dressed as a flying mouse, and he's still beating up criminals. Being a good guy and being mentally unstable are not mutually exclusive.
Batman has made his own shark repellent, but has he even made a crocodile repellent solely to deal with Killer crock? Batman should also make some Bat-Herbicides to defeat poison Ivey.
From Batman: Assault on Arkham. A 2014 film. The Riddler: What belongs to you, but others use it more than you? Amanda Waller: Your name. The Riddler: Oh you’ve heard that one. Amanda Waller: No, I have Google like the rest of the world.
I think the riddler is a real cool character concept and can work in a darker setting but all of that hinges on actually writing new unique and relevant riddles to the situation. Which rarely happens. Edit: I watched the new Batman movie and the Riddler was good idve preferred more showmanship but that may just be me
The volume five of Snyder's run makes an interesting use of his character. The final battle of the comic for instance is fought against time, while any of the above average difficulty riddles he gives Batman need to be solved before time's up or thousands will die. Even if Batman solves them all, it would technically be impossible to solve them all unless he's a supercomputer, and even then he's risking death at every step. The actual solution is pretty damn interesting.
Oh, if OG Riddler came up against angsty teen Terry McGinnis, Nygma would have to retire. "I can't beat him, but he doesn't play by the rules! No sport at all."
In Batman's defense, this is what Riddler deserves after having each and everyone of us go through tedious guidelines on the internet to find the locations of all the Riddler trophies in Arkham.
The guides needed to be created by someone. Basically at least a single person found them without any guides, and then created guides for everybody else. (Or maybe they just looked at the game code idk) they deserve to beat riddler the most.
@@---oq5kb The most likely scenario, as is usually with these guides, is a case of multiple people posting their findings and someone correlating them all.
I remember seeing a post on Tumblr the other day talking about how Spider-Man and Batman’s foes wouldn’t last ten minutes if Spidey and Batman switched rogues galleries with a favorite part of the post being that Spider-Man would tell the Riddler he likes Knock-Knock jokes better while Green Goblin is getting his ass whooped by the Bat-Family.
Yeah, like how if Spider-Man ended up fighting Joker we’d literally just get the Terry scene from the Batman Beyond movie where Peter just bullies and laughs at him and the Joker doesn’t like it.
@@video-warehouse-s8973 Just look up Spider-Man Solos Gotham and you’ll get a screenshot of the post on Reddit Tried posting a link but RU-vid deleted it
I love how in Arkham Asylum (a batman video game) solving all of riddlers riddles slowly angers him more and more to the point where riddler accuses u of looking it up on the internet lol
As someone who just got home from the theaters after watching the masterpiece that is The Batman, I can undoubtedly confirm this is exactly what happens.
Riddler: "I don't really have any friends or anything. This is like my one social interaction of the month." Has this dude never been on the internet? I feel like Reddit would be a perfect place for him.
_Bat-Log, March 10th:_ Edward Nygma (aka The Riddler) has been released from Arkham today. As per my arrangement with the GCPD, he has been furnished with an apartment, a laptop, and a Reddit account. He is to log in to r/riddles at least once a day for a month as part of his probation. His account activity is being monitored. _Bat-Log, May 25th:_ I am beginning to believe we may have seen the end of Nygma's alter ego. He has landed a job at the local paper creating crosswords and other puzzles. A low-paying job, but enough to keep the lights on. He's started his own subreddit where egos like his can dare to challenge the master. Not one crime committed yet- beyond the crimes Redditors typically commit by being Redditors.
@@Al_musawi14 i know of a guy who snuck into a special forces type base wearing green spandex and a bright gold shoulder...cloth... thing. tore the place up and ran away before anyone knew what was happening
"ok i hear you. COUNTERPOINT... you're a terrorist" "oh so all of a sudden that justifies you cheating?" "in every conceivable way" "oh-" *riddler fucking dies*
I want to know who thought it was a good idea to give the worlds greatest detective a villan who throws fucking kiddy riddles at him. Its like a spider-man villan that puts a bomb at the end of a parkour course and says "HA HA BET YOU CAN'T GET THROUGH THIS, SHPIDAH MAN"
Batman: I've got one for you. What have I got in my pocket? Riddler: Hey, that's cheating! You're violating the sacred art of riddling with a question that is clearly not in the form of- *SMACK* Batman: Whoopass, Riddler, a can of Whoopass. Umm, wait a sec. It's actually beans. Alfred asked me to pick up some on the way home, it's his day off. Uh, I mean, my friend who is not at all a valet. See Riddles, you made me spill the beans, I gotta go get some more now. Thanks for that.
Writing intelligent characters can be difficult. Inventors and investigators are easy enough. Just throw in some techno jargon, plot device, or psychological bs to solve the issue. Usually these feats can be boiled down to the character just being smart and that's it. Villains like the Riddler, however, have a theme that can't be ignored. You can't have a riddle theme villain not make genuinely unique and difficult riddles.
@@ianfinrir8724 i mean he always was despite his name very rarely did riddle just force someone to solve a riddle without some promise of great harm befalling them or someone else if they fail
Someone asked one of the Batman comics writers why Riddler doesn't show up more often, and his response was basically "you try writing 20 riddles for a comic arc."
Yeah, and props to anyone that at least tries to make any iteration of the Riddler live up to his name and actually come up with genuinely unique and difficult riddles one can't just look up online. Whether they fail or not is a different matter altogether but at least if the intent is there, that's a good start 😛
I really want a copy of riddlers time schedule like how much does coming up with riddles actually use up of his criminal Activitys? Also i love how very understanding batman trys to be
