Ride Along with Littleton Fire Engine 17 (now South Metro Engine 17) to two calls in Lone Tree and Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Both of the responses were medical calls - the first one from the station was to support South Metro Fire Medic 34 in Lone Tree, which is about 3,5 miles away from LFR Station 17. Because SMFR Medic 34 found a person in good/acceptable condition they cancelled LFR E17 en route.
On our way back Littleton Medic 17 got another medical call. For some reason MetCom (Communications-Center) didn't dispatched Littleton's Units concurrently but a bit delayed on that day, so our Captain decided to follow Medic 17 without lights and siren, because MetCom might add us to the call. After about 1 1/2 minutes you can hear the dispatch tone for Engine 17 and see the following response.
I'd like to say THANK YOU to the crew of Littleton Fire Station 17 on that day - as well as special thanks to Captain Pietrzyk, who invited me to visit the station and take a ride along. I will never forget that day! Thank you so much! :)
On January 1st 2019, Littleton Fire Rescue joined South Metro Fire Rescue after a history of 128 years. Watch the video "Littleton Firefighting - A new Era" here: • Littleton Firefighting...
Don't forget to subscribe to never miss a new video from Colorado! More Ride Alongs from Littleton Fire will come up in the following months - Stay tuned!

The neighborhood behind the gate on the second call is E17 & M17's home away from home, they are constantly there (and the other retirement/elder care facilities in the area). I wonder what percentage of their calls those few places make up, it's gotta be pretty big.

Seems so. It's kinda funny, some SMFR units have more calls in just one building a year than some other units overall. Crazy, isn't it?

@@Firescue112 Are all your videos of SMFR? I did not hear an electronic siren in this video. Any chance of picking up intercom communications within the responding crew in the future? The conversation between the OIC and the driver/operator/engineer is always interesting to listen to while responding on a run.
@Firescue112
@Firescue112 4 года назад
@@dpm-jt8rj No, we have videos from a lot of places in the western states... And even more from Europe :) Honestly, I don't know when I'll have a chance on doing a ride along again. Also, it is often personal stuff and patient informations, that are mentioned in the intercom so I don't think that the fire departments want a third person to publish that on RU-vid... :/

The Dash CF is Pierce’s latest custom chassis. A fire department that had a Pierce Arrow years ago can customize the Dash CF to look like the Arrow. The rig can be customized to look like any older rig, including the Dash. I don’t think it can be customized to look like the Quantum.

I never got it why US emergency services respond to a pure medical call with a fire truck and an ambulance. However, very nice video and channel!

We respond to a medical for man power and usually. And because the medic usually arrives later then the fire engine. And plus engines carry medical equipment to. Pretty much its about man power

Thank you! Well yes, E17 used to be a 2005 American LaFrance/Becker Engine and I think they also had a American LaFrance „SQURT“ but in 2017 they got their new Pierce Dash Engine :)

I'm just curious, but does SMFR have an Opticom type system for traffic signals? On the first run, it seemed like they had the green light all the way until being disregarded.
@Firescue112
@Firescue112 4 года назад
As far as I know they can at least control the traffic lights nearby their station. But I'm not sure if it just was coincidence that they had green lights all the way or if they have some type of opticom system for the whole area.
@austing.3518
@austing.3518 4 года назад
I used to live over there, and the light in front of the station is controlled when they get a call. All of the Traffic lights in Highlands Ranch do have those sensors to help speed up response times.

yes they do have opticom go and look at SMFR RU-vid channel on the #PIOVEHICLETOUR video and skip the video to 7:08
