I remember as a kid I was REALLY scared of these long tube slides. I was worried that somehow the tube would shift and I'd end up somewhere else. Looks like the devs might have the same fear.
The horror aspect: Your parents left you at the park and so you're forced to stay there hoping they'll eventually come back and pick you up. So you play on the slide in the mean time.

Yeah people if you didn't know there is already in SCP called the carnivorous slide and it was made before this where you go down a slide and get teleported into a different dimension where you are stuck in a crawl space

@@petrkinkal1509 I only watched a different playthrough of this game, and in that playthrough you could see the monster crawling right behind you, but it didn't actually catch him that time so I can't say what actually happens, though presumably it's not good.
_Wheeee...Yay_ You could feel MBH's excitement as he went down the slide lol. You see a slide like that, you want to ride it. Idk about riding after seeing a body being dragged down it by some weird creature, but you get the "double dog dare" kind of feeling and figure, "Why not?" It is a simple premise with creepy art. I liked it.
I've literally had this nightmare more than once when I was a kid. Going in a slide only to realize it doesn't end, I'm only going deeper, crashing into spiderwebs on the way down
It vaguely reminds me of a nightmare I had as a 10 or so year old, where there was some sort of witch in a heart. I somehow think it was *my* heart she was in. I probably had the dream at least 6 times, but I only really remember it maybe 3 times. Even so, I don't remember much of it.
@Mantel's Spoons I can see how. It stokes some repressed childhood fears, and the game itself is dead silent and rather atmospheric. You really have no idea what to expect and your mind starts creating worst case scenarios of some of your deepest fears

I know it's not what this game is about, but it made me think about addictions. Like, when at first you're just having fun, then it's getting darker, more scary, more difficult, you obviously see that you should stop, but you just keep on trying to have your fun, until you escape it and get rid of this "fun" completely
Who else would purposefully use their feet to stop themselves mid slide on these tube slides and just sorta sit there for a minute then slide the rest of the way out to confuse your parents or friends into thinking you disappeared into thin air for a bit, fun times. Parents were both always like "wait did you go again?, when did you get off?"
The temple's structure reminds me of Ancient Aztec temples. After a sacrifice, the Aztecs would throw the body down the temple stairs. It is thought that they practiced some form of cannibalism. It is also known that they had aqueducts going all around their cities.
Yeah Aztecs were pretty messed up, but the mystery behind the Mayan's vanishing is more interesting. Though the actual reason behind it is kind of boring, it's still fun to imagine some sort of crazy supernatural event caused them to vanish.

@@cadenswanson3412 After seeing it in the doorway and running away, then it's an active chase. Or you just stand there in front of it until there's a fade to black when it disappears, and then kills you from behind.
simple, yet effective. not too overloaded with details, just inexplicable and creepy. the ending makes me think of how i loved to crawl up slides as a kid, especially tube ones, since i could brace myself and make the same sounds as that
lots of aztec sacrifice inspirations here: the huge stairs are obviously an aztec temple, in fact you reach the top and there is a bloody sacrificial altar there, and as you climb the priest above throws the body of a recently sacrificed person down the stairs.
love how it goes from slides to destroy cities filled with ancient evil wonder what's next? a horror game about swings? or those spinning things with handle bars (idk what those are called..)? Edit: No, youtube, Manly isn't playing minecraft. (although, he should, since there's some horror mods out there for it.)
There used to be playground stories about what would happen if you swung hard enough on the swings to go over the top bar. I'd play/watch a game of it.
I had this nightmare when i was 7 or something, except the slide didnt end for a few hours and when it did i entered an alternate world with ghosts and i was near no one familiar, and for someone like me it was horrifying
This is really good gameplay and game design: - using the flashlight to establish that blue rings are interactable - Introduce the crawl mechanic with no apparent threat so users can learn at their own pace - give players a small scare + build tension with the monster delaying their movements - reintroduce the crawl mechanic in chase sequence Excellent stuff, great attention to detail
I’m just listening to this while baking, and I can tell when Manly goes down the slide because I’ll hear “Yaaaay. Wheeee.” In Manly’s deep voice. Amazing.
I used to be afraid of these tube slides. Always imagined that someone would seal the ends shut and I'd be forced to stay inside in that echoy tube. Another fear was that the tube would become tighter the further in you went, leading into getting stuck in the darkness. And I must say, the sounds in that chase scene were really effective. Brought some of those childhood fears right back.
I honestly wish there was a game where the monster wonders why the MC still haven't gone back despite all the creepy shit he pulled and the MC is just like "idk can I join you?"
2:20 God, we did that all the time in a nearby Play Centre I think they’re called, Play World, we’d always be climbing up the slide and because they were often dry and humid, like dry enough to annihilate any remotely bare skin if you slid down it, it was easy to just put your hand on the slide, let it stick and hoist yourself up it. Once we heard someone coming down we’d either slide down, or press on regardless until we got to the top, ruining the fun of whoever was going down the slide. There was nought a greater sense of achievement then finally reaching the top, your toils rewarded with raw satisfaction, only to then slide down and continue the cycle again.
"McDonald's slides were really bad for sanitation." As someone who worked there for her first job, took her job as janitor very seriously, and had to clean and sanitize the jungle gym, I agree. I was never good at climbing up that slide, unlike the kids, so whenever I needed to clean it, I'd go up to the top (depositing my shoes and phone in the cubby prior as per the rules) and I'd slide down and try to spray, stop myself, and sanitize it. It was harder than it looked, trust me! But it was up to me and only me, I was the only one small enough to do all that (I'm 4'11).
I never expected a slide to be this scary. How did someone even come up witht that? That's really well done. Good thing i'm not a kid anymore or else this would have creeped me out.
