My first venture into adventure riding, buying a DR650 and riding it home via the Great Dividing Range. If you're interested in doing this ride check out www.loveoffroa...
Great video! Glad you discovered the ADV side of riding. FYI, if you get a quadlock mount with a wireless charger and vibration damper you can use your phone as a GPS. I use a drone hood to shield mine from the sun as I navigate. The best Navi apps let you save maps so having signal isn’t necessary. The newest phones even have emergency call regardless of cell tower availability. Rode from surfers paradise to deep Queensland and back to Surfers paradise chasing after a girl as a youngster. The relationship didn’t last but the trip got me into the ADV lifestyle. And that’s lasted 22 years now 😅. Cheers from Arizona USA.
Thanks for watching. I've just purchased a quad lock set up minus the wireless charging as my phone doesn't have that ability. But my dash has usb charger so no problems there. I've really been enjoying using the GAIA app.
Good stuff sir, i've enjoyed some of those roads before. I think a little adventure for the first ride is the best way to test a new vehicle 👍. Cheers 4 sharing sir.
It was great. A suggestion I'd have for anyone thinking about trying adventure riding. Don't over think it/over plan it, map out a rough journey and go and give it a crack, you'll have some of the best times of your life and witness some beautiful parts of the country.
She's still going well and has knocked off a few good adventures since then. I'm still not sure exactly what that was for? Maybe to help block the sun off a gps unit. I've removed it and haven't noticed a difference yet.
I have all the necessary safety gear, all of it is top of the line. The only thing is body armour which I don't run because I don't like the feeling of it and I don't believe it does much more than protect from gravel rash / scratches.
I probably forgot to add the complete map in when I was finished. It was one big ride from Townsville to Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. About 1800km all up, almost the complete length of the state.
