I've used them for a couple of years and they definitely work, and its not just that they are spiked that makes a difference its that the foam itself is a higher quality than other brands so that also contributes to them lasting longer So if anyone is unsure i can definitely recommend them👌
I have not tried a funnel web filter, but I would try it, as long as it’s compatible with my favorite No Toil oils and cleaners! I love the water solubility & being able to rinse them in clean water & just dump the biodegradable oily mess.
I use these in all of my bikes. I’ve found the filters are larger than any others on the market, and can require extra work to fit them. On one of the bikes you really have to make sure it’s seated or else there won’t be a tight seal. It smashes itself in one corner, and is deformed due to this. All other brands don’t do this.
they're definitely not a gimmick and do what they claim. i run them on my drz400E and have done a multi week multi state adventure ride in australia and crossed the simpson desert changed the filter once at the 3500km halfway point of the 7000km trip and it still wasn't blocked. you'll have no problems with lost performance on a weekend ride or race.
Mine fell apart after the second cleaning using the Notoil waterbased system. I reached out to them with pictures and they didn't even respond to my warranty communications. I also found it to be restrictive. Hard pass!!
