Ride1Up Prodigy V2: go.ride1up.com/SH34
The Ride1Up Prodigy V2 is offered with CVT (belt drive and an internally geared hub from Enviolo) for $2,695. For $2,395, the chain-driven version is available with Microshift components. Both boast a Brose-German engineered motor and high-quality parts, including 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes and air suspension fork. If you want a premium natural riding experience with a torque sensor it's worth a closer look. Compare it to other belt-driven ebikes from Serial 1 and Specialized to see the true value for the price.

As you say, there really is an e-bike for "almost" everyone out there. This bike is about as close as anyone has gotten to my dream build. Mid-drive, belt-drive, IGH, and at a great price point! Unfortunately, my dream build will not be possible until EU regulations allow 750W e-bikes. Ideally, I would like to see a German 750W nominal mid-drive motor, the same belt-drive/IGH system seen here, and a 52v/30-35Amp/14+AH battery & controller. For non-E components, everything is great! Only thing I would need to add would be a suspension seat-post. If an e-bike like this ever hits your radar, please let us know asap! Thank you for all your hard work and passion in these videos.

Sure, it can’t hold a candle to my BBSHD diy mid drive mtb, but I wouldn’t want to commute on it either. This bike looks like a great commuter and some casual off road stuff. I used to think that a hub motor would make the best commuter, but this bike seems to be a step above, as long as the hub lasts. Oh, and at my advanced age, I’m so sick of cleaning chains and lubing them. A belt drive on my bike would be the dream.

Very uncommon to see a throttle on mid motors because starting torque is so much higher than hub motors, so theres worry about snapping chains or damaging the motor. I actually dont know of any, not even the $5,000 specialized mid motors have a throttle. There could be some chinese bikes with those Bafang motors that may have it, since they arent concerned with long term reliability.

Nice bike, but I prefer a 8 speed IGH like a Shimano Nexus instead of a CVT. I own a CVT and have ridden an IGH in Europe with a mid drive Bosch motor. It is easier to select a specific gear. An IGH is very easy to adjust the gear alignment. All you do is line 2 line occasionally a no brainer. You can shift an IGH at a stop the same way you do with a manual transmission on a car, shifting down into 1st after you stop or before you start again. Then you shift up as you go faster. The belt drive seems nice should cut down on maintenance. No oiling of the chain. Just make sure the belt lines up well with the back gears. Not sure how well it will work in a lot of mud, but for me that is generally not an issue. Nice to see you reviewing a mid drive with a belt and a hub gearing.

About as good as you're going to get at that price point. Like you say, not for everyone, but I got out of the budget e-bike space in July when I bought an R&M Homage. I'm never looking back, the smoothness of the envoila and belt system can't be beat. Shifting gears at a dead stop is ideal for most riders. Mid drive even at 250 W is so efficient, you won't miss the higher Ws on the rear hub motor.

Mid-motor belt drive, ah yes. My only issue with this bike is its smallish battery. About a year ago, I bought the Specialize Como 5.0 IGH. Yes, ya pay the price for Specialized. I fortunately got mine when it went on sale and only cost $4000 instead of the MSRP of $5750. Couple thing that come to mind that the 5.0 Como has that the V2 doesn't and I love. First, the hub is auto shifting, so you dial up the “cadence/speed you like to pedal” and it auto shifts just like the CVT in a car. Second, it comes with the Garmin Radar built in, which I find very helpful. Not sure about the V2, but the Como's rear rack has the MIC system built in, so it allows me to use one trunk bag between several e-bikes I own. Thus, I pack my riding “stuff” and just grab the bag and decide which bike to ride. My two other bikes I own or both cadence sensors and personally I like to pedal. Thus, I'm not a big fan of the cadence sensors as I think a torque sensor gives more of a true pedaling workout, not the ON/OFF switch of a cadence sensor. Last night for example, I did a group ride with road bikers (yeah in the road biking attire) and noticed that since I've been riding the Wired Freedom and Wallke H6 MAX both with cadence sensor how much more of a workout I got. By the way, speeds were similar. Now just like throttle, cadence and torque sensors are a matter of personally preference, which since I like to pedal I prefer the torque sensors. So I'm kind of looking for another bike, with a torque sensor and hopefully a belt drive.

If this had been available when I bought my Gazelle Ultimate C380 a year ago, I might have gone with the Ride1Up. I wonder how much more rolling resistance the wider tires on the Ride1Up create vs the narrower tires on my Gazelle. Thanks for the review!

Is it just me, or does every rider who reviews this bike get winded when they ride it uphill… or when trying to achieve its maximum speed? @@pddellow Agreed, but it's $700 cheaper currently with discount codes. Ryan seemed to like the Vvolt bikes in his reviews. I was curious about the overall riding "experience." To me, cheaper doesn't necessarily mean it can't be more fun or more comfortable. Maybe it is $700 better? That's why I was asking. Got the email this morning about this bike. Immediately put one in the cart as this is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Just as I'm starting the check out process I realize I better check the weight since that's important to me. The 61 lb weight just kills this for me. That and it's a bit expensive. The nearly identical Specialized Vado 3.0 IGH mentioned in the video has been cheaper at $2500 for most of this year and the Vvolt Sirius is substantially cheaper.

The Ride1up Prodigy v2 is way better bike than the Specialized turbo Vado 3.0… the Specialized vada 3.0 have better cable management and looked a bit better. Prodigy v2 pros over Vado 3.0 Brose 90nm motor vs a de-tune 50nm Brose motor, Enviolo CVT trekking hub 380% gear ratio vs Enviolo City 310% gear ratio, front chainring Gates Carbon Drive CDC 60T front sprocket and rear sprocket Gates Carbon Drive CDC 22T vs Gates Carbon Drive CDC 50T front sprocket and rear sprocket Gates Carbon Drive CDC 22T. They had to used the smaller 50T front chainring to help the Enviolo city 310% ratio to help it climb hills while sacrificing the top speed of 28mph. Tektro ebike specific four piston brake vs shimano basic mt 200 two piston brake that is shimano’s lowest entry level hydraulic brake set. 100mm travel air fork vs 80mm coil fork. Just a few things to take notes of and those are the major selling points. I could go on and on ride1up need to get me on their marketing team I would turn this bike in a best seller.

You've overlooked the fenders, far superior to almost all mfg's. Torque sensing is far, far more important than all but experienced touring cyclists understand. That IGH cannot be over rated. Just being able to shift at a stop or while coasting makes it worth the extra $300. The Enviolo is beyond anything else. Belt drive takes it to a whole 'nother level. 504wh's is pathetic by modern standards. With that size and weight it should be at least Lifepo4 (superior to U.L.).
