Thanks for this Sterling. Here in Alberta, Canada we weren't on the no mobile phone use laws bandwagon across the country as politicians rushed to enact them. Alberta is a fave place for biased media to complain about in Canada. They interviewed. They criticized. They whined and complained. And then Alberta passed a traffic law against "Distracted Driving". Oops... the offence is the same whether you are mobile using, reading printed material, putting on your makeup, spilling hot coffee on yourself, eating take out food, driving with your favorite "fur baby" climbing all over your lap... you know anything but paying bloody attention to the road...

Thank you very much - I would love to except that I will be on the west coast filming the next BDR at that time, maybe next year?

Great video! Appreciate what Scott does, but I don't buy into unconscious bias. Most of that nonsense has been brought on by knucklehead riders. I've ridden for 35 years and I can't tell you how many times I've told people they should slow down a bit. Take a weekend day to the tail of the dragon. It's turned into a race track and it's absolutely ruined the experience for tons of folks.

No question, there are knucklehead riders out there (Scott often says, "I can't fix stupid.") but the same can be said for auto drivers, too. The bias reveals itself in different ways but one thing we see regularly is that, no matter the circumstances at the scene of an accident, the rider wakes up in the hospital with a ticket and the auto driver doesn't receive one. For you - please keep coaching folks to slow down - some will hear you simply because you're a rider, too. Thank you for watching!

@@SterlingNoren I noticed on their website that they don’t serve California so perhaps that was the reason but I would have still hoped for a reply or possible referral. No accidents just advice needed.

If there is a bias against motorcycle riders there´s a good chance we bring on ourselves - yes I´m a rider too. Even though there´s a lot of really good videos on how to ride safely out there, you´ll have no trouble finding videos with idiots riding like maniacs - and with a lot of followers on their channel too. So the right place to start is to look in the mirror and ask the question, does my riding add to the bias people have against motorcycle riders. I think we all are to blame up to a certain point.

Yes, I’m retired and usually take a 4 plus thousand mile read trip around our amazing country a year. You are correct, I see knucklehead riders everywhere! They’re either speeding like banshees, doing wheelies, to yelling at other car drivers and Rv’ers who are on vacation with their families. And a lot lane split and ride on the shoulder to get by a traffic jam where it’s illegal in that state to do so, further aggravating other drivers, adding to a negative image of motorcyclists. However, it’s a small segment of motorists who do these things, but it only takes few bad apples to lump all motorcycles into a big negative basket.

It's always good to look to yourself first - you should probably hold a Ted talk on that. :) The bias Scott is referring to is within the legal and insurance system where it can hurt even a responsible rider. For instance, even in cases where it's obvious the rider isn't at fault (say, a car turns left in front of them), the rider will often still wake up in the hospital with the ticket while the auto driver receives none. Thank you for watching - hopefully you got something out of it.

@motorcycleriderjustice I totally agree actually, all I'm pointing out is that we as a community of riders can do better. And I know you know this too. Thanx for taking time out to reply.👍🏍

Congrats to Rider Justice, especially the 'non-texting' policy. He may be interesting at looking at the new road laws introduced in Victoria Australia at www.vicroads.vic.gov.au ....Mobile phones, technology & driving. They have also introduced new road cameras to capture you if your using your device.

Thank you! We collect and compare our hands-free legislative work against other states who have managed to pass similar laws - but haven't looked at Australia's. Thank you!
