*Works great **MyBest.Tools** on small lumber and much lighter than large circular saws.*

Thanks for the video. I’m a power tools newb and I could not for the life of me figure out how to turn the saw on without the hand positioning being awkward. The technique makes sense now, seeing you do it, but for someone with zero experience it’s a concept that never pinged on my radar.

Ive had mine for over a year now and it is a beast. I had been running the regular 5ah (before I started collecting the octane batts and tools) and it cut everything I have thrown at it. Ripping down a 40yo soild wood exterior door really impressed me. No issues. The new octane version has a rafter hook and works in unison with the octane batteries for more output under load. I just wish ridgid would blow out all the gen5x tools and get all the octane stuff out at once. I like having bags too. I ordered the full size bag online (under $30) to keep a few tools portable at once.
@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 5 лет назад
Mike, thanks for the comment!! I need to get one of those bags for sure, it would make storing and transporting a lot easier. I’ve been extremely happy with it overall, and I expect a long life ahead for this Saw!!! If you’re interested, I just posted a new video about the 12” Sliding Miter by Ridgid which was actually my first “problem” or Lemon tool from Ridgid. Switched it a couple times and it still was horrible. Figured I’d spread the word as much as possible. Thanks again for watching our video and for getting into the conversation!!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

@@TheToughGuysTV Sure! Side note. I have the cordless miter saw also. They were out for a limited run and good gravy is it a godsend. Used it on a flooring install all day today with a 6ah batt and never charged it. Not sure why that on was pulled. Maybe it will come back octane.

Great product, I bought the 5 gen kit right before Rigid came out with their brushless.. I use my tools every single day, and I’m pretty rough with them.. I choose rigid over dewalt and Milwaukee .. my brushes finally burnt out after 2.5 years or so.. great video bro!

Just ordered the saw and it came with 4.0ah batteru and charger for $169. A tip for any saw blade is the bolt always loosens in the direction the saw blade spins... So most RH sidwinders are ccw and most LH (worm drives) are reverse thread. Same goes for miter saws and table saws...

Nice review! I have the brushless r8653 model and like it quite a bit! However, like you noted if you get a large enough battery you lose some depth! I think that is not acceptable! When you have the most power you can’t fully utilize it. They have to get with the program like the other manufacturers and get a better battery placement design!
@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 3 года назад
Thanks!!! And I agree - sort of silly they didn’t engineer the battery system to hold it in a way to avoid loss of depth. Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video! 🙏🏻

@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 4 года назад
It would be tough to know for sure, but I guess you could start by making sure your blade is installed correctly and not on backwards. From there, I'd maybe try a second blade, as the original could be defective. And lastly have someone assist in taking a video of you cutting and send that to Ridgid's account on instagram - they are pretty responsive, and may get back to you pretty quick with a possible solution. Worst case, you can always call their support phone number too and try to explain what's happening. Good luck!

Great video! Have you upgraded to the new Octane circular saw? I recently purchased a Gen5 brushless circular saw for around $80 (new) ... plan on giving it to my brother (DIY) for his birthday. But some RU-viders review said that the Octane has 30% more power... What do you think?

I disagree. I’ve bought many tools similar to this, like their own reciprocating saw, which came with battery, charger, tool and a storage bag. Same with their router. Plenty of tools come with bags.

@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 5 лет назад
I’ve only ever had great warrantee experience whenever having to service a tool. It’s what drew me to Ridgid and why I stay plus the rarity of any of the tools having some form of failure. I love the quality and reliability as well as the ergonomics of the tools. If you haven’t seen already, I recently reviewed the Gen5X Circular Saw here on the channel, and it’s been a HUGE hit for every project - absolute beast. We have a belt sander, orbital sander, two reciprocating saws, 2 vacs of different sizes, the Circular Saw, impact driver and cordless screw gun, table saw and 10in wet tile saw - it’s a whole family!!! #TeamRidgid

Just saw you watched the Gen5X video!! Sorry from the studio app it’s hard to see what video you commented on!! 🤷‍♂️ 😂
@Thatguy-tb9pw
@Thatguy-tb9pw 4 года назад
Na dude it wont go all the way down because you didnt get the octane circular saw, the design is slightly different to allow the octane 9amp to sit all the way down, in terms of power you basically turned it to an octane saw when you put the octane battery in the saw because it has the brushless motor, so you dont have to buy new power tools to get the octane power as long as you have the gen5x line
