Watch me Tell Ridgid Executives I Don't Like Their Tools here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3H9cuevPTaI.html

You say their not bad tools, but then say you don't like them, understandable, everyone has their thoughts on tools. If their is one thing I know is that simplicity is always great in my opinion. Milwaukee is your preferred m, but the price is outrageous for the red sets. I've not had issues with my orange tools and ill stick by them. Again always enjoy your reviews, but Rigid will get the job done. Have a blessed one

Same. If anything they're a little bit over-engineered so their batteries run out quicker than other tool lines, but it's nice to have a lifetime warranty. Construction guys will make fun of them though.. so there's that..

I use Ridgid Bosch I have og USA made Porter Cable reciprocating saw from 1994 still runs yes it's corded I got a skill jigsaw & circular saw when Bosch owned them I use when makes me money and does not kill my bank account that's the facts Ridgid warranty is awesome I had two 2.0 ah hyper lithium batteries that I got the last pack in my home Depot 2 years ago they sent me the exact same batteries and bump me up to LSA instead of leave me with the one year warranty so I took my old batteries I had a friend that's good with rebuilding batteries and he replaced the dead cells on the batteries were perfectly I did not have to pay him nothing I just have to help him shovel in the winter fair trade so now I got two fully refurbished and functions again plus the ones Ridgid sent I say win win I got LSA with them now

Those Ridgid compact tools is undeniably small and takes up very little space. I love to see the handles on the second gen models of Ridgid compact tools they seem to be very comfy to hold. And there's no denying that they have enough power for their subcompact seize. Awesome 👍💯.

I just want to say that I actually own the first generation of these subcompact tools the drill driver and impact driver. I kid you not gotten without issue the drill driver on speed one to sync an old Irwin 10in self-feeding agur into a 4x4 long ways, meaning when I finished the whole bit was in the 4x4 down to the Chuck. I'm kind of new to getting into power tools and I got in and got hooked real quick. Looking at some of the older Ridgid two lines like the octane and the Gen 5 or whatever it was I can see how somebody might not like the brand but the tools they're putting out today seem to be very good quality in my opinion but I'm no expert.

I have one Rigid Octane impact; bought as an open box item with a battery and charger very cheap. I actually like it, but, worry about when it needs repair under LSA; I know of someone who had an item repaired under LSA, it took 5 weeks to get it back. He switched to Red; all the rest of my battery power tools are Red and there's a factory repair depot with 25 miles of me. Never needed to take any of power tools in yet.

I have Makita 12V that I love for the weight vs power, can use all day standing on my head (you have been there :)). Have Bosch hammer drill brute force to power through anything. Looking for that middle of the road carpentry kit. Any recommendations for $150. Should I stick with the big name boys, I am not on any platform and spend the extra?

The new Ridgid subcompact's quick insert collate is defective. When I push the collate out to eject the bit holder, the collate often retracts back right away (it shouldn't, it should only retract as I insert a bit holder). When I want to insert the bit holder again it would not lock in position as a result. This problem does not happen with the older subcompact impact model. It does not happen w Ridgid's Octane/brushless impact drivers either. Milwaukee M12 impact driver's quick insert collate works perfectly.

I think ridgid has been in an identity crisis. Ryobi has stepped up their game majorly. And on the other hand, there's Milwaukee. Ridgid in the center just needs to find their niche. These remind me of the ryobi subs. Nice tool showdown would be awesome. Either way, I just think bang for buck, go to someone else who has around the same price point and a lot more under their battery platform. I know people dog on ryobi, but I've been using the same drills, sawzaw, and circular saw for 10 years for work. Still Killin it.
@joshdiehl8737
@joshdiehl8737 Год назад
Rigid tools are undeniably more powerful and well built than ryobi. There really isn't anything in the professional grade tool category cheaper or equal in price to rigid. Ryobi is great for homeowners. Rigid brushless is professional quality for not significantly more than ryobi though.
@joshdiehl8737
@joshdiehl8737 Год назад
Rigid is a step from Ryobi in quality and a step down from Milwaukee.
@robs9122
@robs9122 Год назад
@@joshdiehl8737 never said ridgid was bad. Just having an identity crisis. They killed their 12v line. They killed octane line. They haven't really released anything new and innovative. They don't really have a lot of tools. Ryobi isn't just for homeowners anymore. I've used my set for 10 years now and still going. I have a few of their newer stuff that's even better. Not saying some pro builder is gonna use ryobi. But if you're starting out, bang for buck, go ryobi. Then slowly upgrade to Milwaukee or makita. Or if you want middle of the road, dewalt is a better choice than ridgid.
@joshdiehl8737
@joshdiehl8737 Год назад
@@robs9122 Rigid absolutely isn't innovative, but that isn't their thing. Most homeowners and even pros don't necessarily need innovative. Innovative means money for research and development. It means advertising. Rigid does neither of those things and it keeps the prices down. They got rid of their octane line and replaced it with essentially just their next generation brushless. So they changed the name, yeah, but that's kind of it. For me personally, Rigid just feels a lot more professional than Ryobi. Not knocking Ryobi, I think Rigid and Ryobi are the best value in tools right now. DeWalt is a good bit more expensive than Rigid, but Rigid isn't that much more than Ryobi honestly. For me the increased price in Rigid is worth it for a more professional feel over Ryobi and also the only power tool company that gives a lifetime warranty. I also don't like Ryobi's antiquated battery design. Again, Ryobi is an unbelievable value and if I didn't get into Rigid I probably would have went with Ryobi or higher than Rigid and go with Dewalt. Rigid tools IMO are just such an unbelievable value (similar to Ryobi) with a modern battery design and a lifetime warranty. Ryobi's tool selection is awesome but I will likely never need anything battery powered more than a saw, recip saw, jig saw, brad nailer, angle grinder, sander, ocillating tool, hammer drill, impact driver, and torque wrench. So Rigid made the most sense to me. Your mileage may vary. Edit: they also sell battery converters on Amazon for like 20 bucks you can use almost any brand battery with any other brands tools. So I essentially can use Rigid batteries with Ryobi or Milwaukee tools but still get the lifetime warranty for the battery if I ever did need a tool Rigid doesn't make which for me personally is unlikely.

I’m genuinely asking, not trying to sound smart. @@mattek519 Thank you. I went back and rewatched the TTC show of Apr 2022. Octane wins on each test except max torque (at the very end). Not exactly stellar upgrades going to the 86212 w/4Ah Max output. Actually worse in several areas. Sad to see Ridgid lower many specs and call it an improvement.

@@jimmtech I have the octane mid torque and new brushless mid torque. They are pretty similar in power. Where they upgraded the new line is in size and weight. Rigid always felt heavier and bulkier than the competition. They are getting away from that. That's the upgrade to the octane line if you care. I actually don't care about size and weight. I just got the new mid torque in a combo set on a great deal on black friday and it came with it. I would never buy the new tools if I already had the octane. Just pointing out the improvement is size and wieght on almost all the tools.

I got the 1st-gen Subcompact drill-driver kit for $90, using some hacks. Great small tools, but the drill has already started to make weird noises when using the adjustable chuck. But for $90, whatever... I guess.

1st generation? That's gatta be pretty old by now no? Also Rigid Gen 4 and above is significantly higher quality

@@joshdiehl8737 Like I said in my comment, first-gen *subcompact* kit. So the tools were released about two years ago. I can attest to that subcompact drill being a POS children's toy that breaks if you look at it incorrectly.

@@SubtractZero did you ever try and use the warranty?
@SubtractZero
@SubtractZero Год назад
@@joshdiehl8737 Yes, and the only option was Home Depot, which had a 2-week wait before they even touched the drill. Oh, and a $30 deposit when I paid essentially $25 for the drill in kit form. I exchanged the kit about 3 times, but always get a broken-plastic grinding noise when using the chuck after about a month. The battery warranty is easy though.

Ridgid lost me after they dropped Octane. Too many better options at this time! And I'm salty after the butane heat gun they sold never worked. #dobetterridgid

Unlike Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. as far as I know Ridgid is the only manufacturer that offers a lifetime tool warranty on some of their products, as long as they are purchased in THD. This is why some contractors swear by them.

Shame they don't last especially in the hands of an apprentice. We do commercial tho so maybe for small jobs/ homeowner it would be ok. Either way competition is always good it makes others improve.

The batteries for ridgid tools suck. I have had to go through more batteries in a very short period of time with their tools. Definitely bad customer service on the phone with them numerous times. And cannot get a part for my ridgid chop saw because they just don’t have parts. Why would I ever buy a tidgid product again ! I wouldn’t and that’s my review.
