Everyone knows that at least 40% of your overall tone is in the screws, the effect on dynamic resonance is totally measurable to even the untrained ear.
The dude with the skully Epi LP is like those motorcycle guys who slap on a ton of bolt on trash and think it adds $K's to the value, but it actually devalues the item.
Because he’s smart and he knows that “modifying” a guitar devalues it while “upgrading” it immediately adds $1,000 to the price. It doesn’t matter what you do to the guitar as long as you specify that it’s an “upgrade” and not any other type of modification
3:30 ish No offense taken, I live in Alabama. I have a 100% been that guy that said "we gon do this guitar right up" Then done similar stupid shit to my buddy's guitar.
Once upon a time Reverb was a great place for picking up a nice used guitar for a great price; now it's scalpers paradise and etsyfied. Don't get me wrong, I still like it but I want my old Reverb back.
Dude this series is why I subscribed to your channel!!!! I love the crazy stuff you find on Reverb!!!! I do like the Reverb site and I have bought a lot of gear off that site, but your finds are the funniest!!!!!!
I’ve watched the last three back to back. This is soooo fucking awesome! You’ve gotten slightly more angry and flippant lol it’s been an entertaining progression!
I’ve been subbed for 4 years now and I still love ya!!!!!! I love this series. It’s like Philip McKnight’s “Sharpen My Axe”. This and “Rate or Roast My Rig” are home run’s for you my friend!!!!!! Thanks and keep it up.
Great episode today - thanks for going into some of the background for some of the items - good to know that some are actually legitimate collectors items, but not at all priced appropriately.
I enjoy the heck out of these videos-it is nice to know that I'm not the ONLY one that sees some of these listings on Reverb and thinks, "recreational drug usage IS increasing all over the world"!
Idea for Mr Fluff, maybe you can also find ridiculously under priced items on Reverb. Seeing someone sell something they don’t know is really valuable may just be as shocking as jerks who over price pickguard screws or Epiphones.
I ran across that Epi yesterday when it popped into my feed. I was so indignant I had to yell for my wife and we both made fun of the dude lol. Great series Fluff you da man.
I love that you swear - Bleeps and Bloops not withstanding - because that's how I react when I see some of this slop on Reverb. I've also felt the sting of paying WAY too much for something, then, when I needed the coin, having to turn around and sell it again for pennies on the dollar for what I paid. I once bought an original digitech WH-1 with the original box, power supply etc...mint for $850 plus shipping. I sold it for $120.00 two years later because I fell on hard times. Times are MUCH better for me now, but I'll be damned if I'll ever pay that kind of money or mark-up % over list price for a piece of gear ever again. EVER.
Hey Fluff- if you're ever on Long Island and want to see the 76 pound Ibanez in person- stop by All Music Inc in Plainview, NY. BTW- it's a collectors item, we actually dropped the price DOWN to the last legit offer we got, but the shipping to Japan was a killer.
Fellow musician, More of a funk/jam guy myself, but your Reverb series made me subscribe immediately lol. Excellent commentary 😂 Come on people, subscribe.
Ridiculous reverb listings exist because let's be completely honest, us guitar players can be a bit ridiculous at times, even I admit that about myself
That matte yellow on that flathead looked amazing. Gonna be building my first kit guitar at some point this year...think I just found what color I'm going to paint it.
Lol it's about time, this series is my favorite. Believe it or not these episodes are desensitizing my consumerism on all levels 😅🙄. Ha ha ha ha the fuckin screws!! Ha ha ha!!🤣
I'm not surprised by the price of the screws. I used to sell vintage Fender parts (many, many years ago) and you wouldn't believe what old screws and plastic would fetch on eBay back in the day. It was out of hand.
He’s so funny! Some people are ridiculous with their listings!! I saw a Chris Cornell Gibson ES 335 for $16,600 + $500 shipping. Not signed, not played by Chris, just a regular signature Gibson model
just to clarify, brass is ridiculously expensive. Furniture maker here, idk what you looked up but that is not what it costs to buy brass, that's thousands of dollars in brass alone. Not saying its worth 20k! but I just want to clarify that its definitely worth at least 5k
C’mon man, you can definitely find better ones than these, shirley! Byrdland was in Denmark and that should be taken into account, it could be a mistake or an exchange rate screw up. I have seen that a lot. The Solid Brass Ibanez collector is a one of a kind, more power to the seller if they find a buyer, if not they will drop the price again. With a one of a kind there is no selling history so you have to start high and work down if you want to maximize your return. That applies to the ByrdLand and Fender Flattop as well. On another note, those screws with the flats are the still used by gunsmiths, so now everyone knows where they can find $100 aged screws and say they came off a guitar 😂. Just my 2 cents, ymmv.
Epiphone Les Paul putz is the same guy that gets an older Jeep and puts every aftermarket chrome accessory on it. See also: the guy who puts a giant wing and Auto Zone plastic wheel covers molded and painted to look like chrome rims on his base model Civic.
