[Recorded March 2012] Of course, I couldn't leave the Hilton Ballpark without paying a visit to this awesome Schindler PORT system! PORT is the successor to Miconic 10, a system that allows users to enter their destination floor on a pad outside of the elevator. This allows the computer to use the elevators more efficiently by grouping people going to the same (or nearby) floors. Follow me on:

I was at this hotel last week and can't say I love this system. We got on and decided we needed to stop on another floor to pick someone else up. Can't change your mind once you're on it since there's no buttons. Had to go all the way up, get out, wait, get back on and go back down.

Interesting how these talk irregardless of whether disabled mode is activated or not; most destination dispatch installs only talk in disabled mode, which is stupid.

Depends. In the US, it can feel like that, but not in my country, Australia, where almost every single door close button does its job.

It's still a terrible set of elevators for anyone that stays here. I was at the Hilton for Arch Madness weekend and between the SIU fans staying at the hotel, those staying for various conferences, and those getting up and down from the 360 Rooftop Bar, it was a pain in the butt. I wish SIU would find a different hotel to base their Arch Madness operations out of, my pick would be the Westin St. Louis which is outstanding.

+Ryan Fraley Damn it I wish ALL elevator systems can use Schindler PORT even the one in my school! How dumb! OTIS is doing all the crap mods while this hotel was smart and stuck with the awesome PORT mod! Damn it OTIS damn you!

+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 I think you missed the point. The problem isn't the elevator system, it is that back in the late 60's when the Hilton was constructed, the architects and contractors who designed and built the hotel didn't make the elevators large enough. Then you add a rooftop bar and it turns the entire flow of human traffic chaotic. I don't know what could be done to fix the problem short of adding elevators.

Ryan Fraley Well at least the hotel was smart by choosing PORT instead of OTIS Series 7 Cramppiss Puss (Compass Plus _my version_). My middle school should have very well gotten the PORT 5500 MRL system. Pathetic Generic installations and modernizations make me want to throw up.
