You don’t see the trick right?, give it 5 to 10 years, if Tesla by that time still a competitive company, its activity is going to be entirely performed in china, and they wont have another viable option. So the US will still say Tesla is theirs, but they wont be able to remove Tesla from china because that would be self destructive for the company, if it isn’t already.

It was established in 1907 but it always has accidents compared to Airbus. So does NASA. It was the biggest aerospace program in the world. Now? Elon Musk. He may have a new wife soon.
What did you expect from CNBC or for that matter from any mainstream media host. They are paid millions for their ignorance and for misleading people. All idiots.
Another point I want to call out: in the map, you can actually specify if you want to have a human supervisor or not. So I really don't know what is the fuss about "try and error" to get a car without the human supervisor. I have seen multiple vloggers specifically use that feature and the cab shows up quite fast. It really feel that this reporter is making it "less convenient" to smooth the anxiety of the American viewers. Go check out the vloggers doing the same in Guangzhou and Beijing. The experience is smooth and swift. That said, all of them have one big gap: they are limited to some city areas only. It is not for the whole city yet. But it is getting there.
I'm afraid most his viewers aren't as capable of their own original thoughts as you would expect, otherwise he would have been replaced long ago. He's quite a detestable entitled character with an unhealthy sense of self-righteousness, yet for years he remains a host on this show.

From what I understand Tesla Has had Chinese FSD data in China for years why do they need to partner up with Baidu they can go it alone Tesla is at level 2 autonomous driving Baidu is at level 4 autonomous driving
You guys are so dumb, in this very segment the host mentioned the concerns about the American driverless companies. Some people are concerned no matter what country this technology comes from
A few problems I noticed…. Wuhan has just removed a night time ban on there being no driver behind that steering wheel of the robotaxi And most importantly Baidu reported 4.1 million paid robo taxi rides up to Q3 of 2023 Each one of those robotaxis would have to do about 22 trips per day So the wait is understandable until they get more cars on the road That’s where Tesla comes as these two were partnered up by the Chinese Government giving Tesla a gift

Americans are living in a cocoon. Actually, Chinese technology are far more advanced but local government are very conservative they want 0 accidents on Robots, thus the roll out products are way more strict than necessary thus what you see on the roads are the most water down version.

Not everyone is confident or comfortable with no-man taxi, this is why some units comes with driver assistant (its still automated). I think this is fair as the system still need time to test, evaluate before its launch as full proofs system
I remember her very well. Back in June 2011 when the Beijing - Shanghai high speed rail service launched their maiden trip, she was on board this brand new train and observed there were very few passengers. She remarked she had doubts this will be successful, as most Chinese would not be able to afford the fare. Fast forward today. This line is the busiest and most profitable route for the Chinese railways. It runs 41 daily trips to the two cities and carried more than 50 million passengers last year. She has probably learned by not commenting about the viability of this robotaxi service. She didn't want to wrong again.
Just to be clear, it takes 4 hours to get a self-driving taxi WITHOUT supervising human which is obviously sitting there to comfort the riders on this new technology. Getting a self-driving taxi (with or without human), only take about 15 or 20 minutes.
Usually the drivers don't touch the steering or use the pedals. They r there for support just in case. It is TECHNICALLY an FSD but it's still in experimental stages
It took 4 hours because she refused to board at least two earlier taxis. In fact it's a good sign it took 4 hours, that means there is more demand than supply.

self driven taxi are all around in China, with human assistant and no human assistant. of course you don't want to show that side of China, that will make you look bad.
2:09 - It's printed as “远程驾驶示范应用”, meaning it's a “test program for remotely driven car”. So it's not a self driving car. Someone was driving it from somewhere remotely.
Didn’t her app show 15 minutes for the first taxi, guess the four hours is because she skipped a few with satay person. Watched a Japanese NHK video test in Beijing, she got a taxi with no safety person in about 15 minutes but she couldn’t call one as a foreigner so had to have a Chinese coworker assisting her. It’s good that nobody blocked the taxi on the road on purpose or smashed the car like video I saw happened in San Francisco. Hope Biden 100% tariff doesn’t impact Tesla advancement in Chinese market.
she says "my assumption" is they use ladar, well this is a significant fact CNBC don't assume tell the audience if indeed it is factual that ladar is used or cameras only
The big problem with Robo Taxis or Autonomous Cars is security if say.. 5 thugs standing on your way. In a normal car, the driver has a choice to force its way and hurt these thugs wheras an Autonomous car will likely stop one meter close to these thugs. Passengers pulled out, beaten, stolen. So quite obvious, autonomous cars or Robo Taxis are not suitable for US but suits very well for safe countries like China
Admirable technology. I would not use it if I can still drive. And if I can’t drive, I’ll call someone I know who can drive, and if there’s no one available to drive me then I’ll use it. My desire to use it is really really low but I admire the technology.
There is no way in hell any car company will beat tesla to the pinch when it comes to self-driving. Anyone with FSD can attest to that, tesla is probably less than a year away from not needing driver intervention
The only problem is the american population that want to hold on to ICE cars and hate Tesla with passion. I dont care what is Elon political view but he is the only American who has that attitude that made America great

she is doing everything she can to say how bad the experience is rather than providing a true comparison. She got a robotaxi way sooner than four hours. Though it had a person in there, the person is not the driver but a technician. Functional data from autonomous driving is always being gathered when during a live trial period. Given the number of people in China, she got a robotaxi nearly immediately. Tha fact she had to walk to a particular position is because there are prohibited zones. I am glad the front of a hotel is one of those, as pedestrian traffic is notoriously chaotic in these areas. Please do not go to China anymore, even if you might physically appear an Asian. You are not welcomed.
China is really so technological advance and society is ready to adapt. In the US, people are not respectful enough to utilize self servicing technology. Just look at self checkout or 😢 honor system

To be fair they partnered Tesla up with Baidu Meaning the Chinese Government just helped Tesla to catch up to autonomous driving level 4 which is where Baidu is at
Oh hell no they don’t have to worry about me taking one what would happen if someone hack it you would be on a ride of your life literally and it won’t end well
It's ridiculous that this lady said "it's slow". How fast can you drive in US cities? As far as I know, 30 m/h is the typical speed limit in cities. What kind of crap is this?!
As if you can get permission to pratice this technology on the road, it already has been proven reliable, the reson why you need to have a human driver sitting in is apparently for safety issue and emergencies. Hes not going to do anything about the wheel, more of a observer and service personal, its a responsible way to deliver this technology to the public, one step at a time
It is the same as Waymo, which is operating in most of the most profitable markets already. Do you think a Tesla robotaxi is going to be profitable sitting in a trailer park. The profit is in dense areas where you get short, expensive fares back to back. Not idling in some small town waiting hours between rides.
@@nolisto1 I don't think that is true. I think Waymo is starting in the most profitable areas and then will gradually spread, which they are doing, but I don't think they ever want to operate outside of profitable areas. It is no different than walmart closing stores in poor redneck counties.
I sense the host didn’t even want to do this interview, his tone of voice lacked enthusiasm or interest 😅 didn’t even bother to strike a good question or conversation. 😂

I think China would be wise not to allow Tesla's robo due to security issue. Remember, they banned government workers from using Tesla? Well, if they allow Tesla's robotaxi, that's just defeat the purpose of the ban because the Robotaxi can just drive all over country.
Since it was revealed that GM's Cruise was partially remotely operated (by someone with a joystick), how likely is it that Baidu's cars are remotely operated? Magic 8 ball says: "Very Likely."
It was waymo remotely driving their taxi. Cruise isn't, that's why cruise ran into all kinds of problems and accidents and finally got suspended due a critical event. So waymo is more superior due to them having drivers for their taxi
