The video gives a real-time demonstration of the features of a custom manual notching logic built for ESU (@ESUDCC) Loksound 5 DCC decoders for diesel sound projects. Custom changes are incorporated into Loksound V5 Alco 16-251C sound project S0709. Real-time scale speed displayed using Boulder Creek Engineering RollBy OnBoard Speedometer

Features of Custom Manual Notching Logic include:
1. Dedicated function buttons F21 to F28 for the 8 individual notches
2. Real-time automatic internal mapping of maximum individual notch speeds based on throttle speed step setting
3. Locomotive movement and prime mover notching controlled using notching function keys
4. Dynamic brake sequence initiated by F4 function key
5. Simulation of prototypical operation where throttle has to be reduced to Idle before DB can initiate
6. 3 levels of dynamic braking sequentially selectable using notch buttons F21, F22 and F23 when DB is active
7. 3 levels of train brakes sequentially selectable using dedicated function buttons F9, F10 and F11
8. Ability to simulate train encountering up gradient and down gradient by adjusting throttle speed step during travel
9. Feedback to user by automatically playing a short horn when any speed transition operation (ie. Throttle change or speed change after braking) is completed
Custom sound features include:
1. Simulated idling of Woodward governor fitted WDM2 Alco when locomotive is stationary
2. Prime mover sound transition when locomotive speed exceeds scale speed of 45 kmph to simulate transition of traction motors from series parallel to full parallel (occurs only then locomotive accelerates from less than 10 kmph)
3. Simulated Alco WDM2 horn
Other sounds such as air dryer, compressor, braking squeal, prime mover are stock ESU sounds.
Locomotive model is a scratch built HO scale Indian Railways WDM2 diesel locomotive with kit bashed parts from Baldwin AS616 and Alco C630 and a scratch built shell.
