Absolutely worked on my d105. Apparently, mine is almost exactly opposite, and there's a damn frame rail too close to get a bowl in there, so it splashed all over me anyway. But I got that beast running, so this beer is for YOU my guy

For those looking for the "how to" to clean the plunger and what worked Anything Mechanical 1 year ago I ran a small pick around the base of the plunger, and then hit it with carb cleaner. When I did this several pieces of carbon buildup washed out. That seemed to do the trick.

I have a LX176 John deere mowing and I love it and I think it's the best mower for it's long lasting parts. The.80s 90s in my opinion are the best lawn mowers in the world

Check the safety switches. Seat switch, fuel shut off on the bottom of carb and the brake safety switch.

Yeah, that little gadget is a backfire solenoid and is 125.00 if you can find one. Pull it out and break off the plunger and put it back in. Keep the little red wire disconnected. . Then place a fuel cut-off valve from 7.00 at Napa in the fuel line coming off the carburetor. When you are finished for the day or the season just turn off the fuel and it will shut down without leaving fuel in the carb which is a bad idea anyway unless you are running non-ethanol fuel, and now you have solved a simple problem that would have cost a ton of money to fix. .

I got this SAME mower, ive done a new coil, plugs, than got a air filter just for shits. But ima go try this now and see if that thing aint moving. Cause mine was running like a champ. Than all of a sudden it just died. It has spark, i checked even after putting in the new coil. Cause sometimes they come not working. Ive got em before.

Did you end up replacing the solenoid or just cleaning it up again? If you did replace, do you happen to remember the PN? I’m not finding it anywhere for the LX255.

I have been working on small engines over 60 years- I have found maybe 3 times--- an engine wouldn't start because of the spark plug - I have equipment that is over 40 years old with original plug

The gasket on my float bowl broke and plugged the main jet..got new gasket ,hard to fit correctly..runs fine w/o gasket..no leaks.

Spray it with carb cleaner it probably sat for some time and varnish built up on it i had one that did that carb cleaner cleared it right up

also see mustie1 who admits he overpays for stuff at times- bought a skid steer no start and sure enuff the engine needed rebuilt so with all the other problems he was honest enuff to admit he overpaid

if float is set to low carb, this will cause hard starting or no starting on intake stroke there is a vacume sucking fuel from a tiny tube standing in carb that tube needs too about full therecis an adj on some carbs to control that flow turn counter clock wise 1/8 turn to increase flow before having to take carb off to adj. float

That solenoid is very important unless install a cut off valve in the fuel line . First and foremost it'll out gas I'm yiu crankcase if it sites awhile . And the first time it backfires through to intake you'll k ow exactly why you now at that moment have to change your underware. It's the equivalent sound of a 409 snith and Wesson handgun report from discharging . Very very high pitched but very very very loud. First time mine did that I almost looked for a bulkef how in me I hadn't felt yey

I believe that is the exact problem I have with my mower. However, I tried taking that part off, and it just kept spinning on me. Would not come off. Any ideas?

I have a lot 240 new carb plugs coil fuel is going to the carb I have good spark won’t start with starting fluid

Wondering if there is a way to drain water out of the fuel tank. If not full, condensation can form and it's going to make water in the bottom of the tank. I let my JD LX279 run out of fuel and probably chugged water into the carb. The tractor has sat for awhile because I could not get it started again. Water may have rusted that little plunger or other components in the fuel system. Arggh . . . is all I can say today. August 2024.

with solenoid out put container under carb now try to start gas should flow to container this tells you fuel pump is working reconn solenoid if still no start try spraying start fluid in to filter on carb it will start and run few sec. fix carb prob

I have an older john deere 160 lawn tractor. It doesn't have the little goober below the carburetor bowl 😁 but still doesn't want to start just cranks and cranks. I put a new fuel pump on it and it worked about 4 trips around the yard. Now I'm back to where I started. No gas to the carburetor. Gas comes out of the line from the fuel tank but no gas to the fuel pump? If I pour gas in the carburetor it'll run for a minute then stop.

Just cut off the plunger. Then install a fuel shut off valve and use it.

Thanks for the video. My Sears lawn tractor runs great...after it gets started. It takes several attempts to get it to start. It seems as though it's not getting fuel while it tries to start. After it finally starts, the fuel flows as it should. I just replaced the fuel line and the fuel filter. Have you any ideas on why it takes so many attempts to start initially?

I have the same problem I was cutting and it started acting like the engine was going to shut off then it would run normal and it finally shut off and want Crank has plenty of gas and I cleaned the plug but it still want Crank could I have the same problem..note when it's been running and I shut it off it back fires ..I brought it used from John Deere for 400 bucks been doing just fine up until a few days ago.. I'm thinking trying that little thing you did is there anything else I should look at

you need to test solenoid by conn wire to with switch on now touch solenoid to metal of motor any where solenoid should retract(down ) if not its bad finger test is not good test

You can just cut that plunger off you don’t even need it it’ll run fine without it just idle the machine down before turning off motor
