The new Aerotrain system at Dulles Airport replaces some of the old mobile lounges that connected the main terminal to midfield concourses. The system comprises of 3-car sets of Mitsubishi Crystal Movers. This ride is from the main terminal to the C-gates.

I remember being about 9 years old when I went to the Dulles Airport and ended up riding this. It was brand new at the time, still had that new train smell, and since it was fully autonomous without a human operator, it felt so futuristic to me as a train enthusiast. I also remember seeing these cool LED signs on the platforms that would show exactly when the next train was arriving. They showed a live countdown of when the train would arrive, and it was perfectly accurate; not a second of delay. This train left me in so much awe that I actually couldn't wait for our trip to end, since we would have to go back to the airport and take the train again😂. My dad then explained to me that he actually helped to program autonomous train systems as a computer scientist, so as you can guess, 9-year-old me was now interested in also becoming a computer scientist! So, here I sit, carrying on that dream, and I'll be heading into computer science in university next year with a 97% average... and this is all thanks to a train LOL! Cheers to the wholesome moments of life :)

clever to use one side for exit only, I hate it when people try to squeeze in while I'm exiting the train

No, it only ever was C concourse to B concourse via the A concourse and Main Terminal. The plan eventually is to extend the tunnel beyond B once the new C & D concourses are built (as the C concourse station is underneath where the new concourse would be located when built (where the old south employee lots are located behind C&D which currently serve as ground vehicle storage) with the addition of a D station). They will then add more stations if demand ever were to require an E&F concourse addition, which would be located south of the main control tower behind C&D.

This is in Virginia, it's about a 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic. However Reagan National Airport is actually in DC.

Yeah the ATL skytrain has the same Mitusibishi thing except the voice is different, train cars are different a little bit and the displays are a little different. Other than that yeah its the same thing. Even the PSD is the same

The mobile lounges are too slow, inconvenient, dirty, full of spiders and spider webs, and NOT fun at all to ride all. The AeroTrain is the EXACT opposite (extremely fast, very convenient, really clean, no spiders or spider webs, and totally fun to ride on). The AeroTrain is also a lot fancier compared to the mobile lounges.
