Large “shooters” cut is nearly the same as medium sapi as well with hesco. The also do a different cut that is their LE cut I believe. Excellent video dude!
Was getting tired of answering my friends questions like "will my xx size jpc fit xx cut xx size plate?". Now I can just send em this vid haha Keep up the great work!
Perfect overview for explaining fitment of armor in ESAPI-cut rigs. If I had a nickel for every L210 being sold as dudes couldn't fit them in their carriers lmao. Can't wait for more dudes to understand that some carriers fit Armor + backers
Don't call Crye... Or these companies like Crye could make a one time chart and quit playing all these games. I myself waited 5 months to get plates after 12 weeks waiting for my JPC 1.0 carrier just to find out large plates in a large carrier was more loose than a $2 hooker. Easy enough fix with a yoga mat cut to size but still. This video was more informative than anything I have seen in the past year. Bravo.
@@EODFish That's true. Just would be nice if someone was able to get the most popular carriers and plates, then fit on camera. I think it would be a great video to cut out some of the confusion some of us have. Your video was great btw.
@@meee175 I’m glad you liked it. A video like that would be useful but to be honest, people would still only watch it after the fact. This community refuses to do their due diligence.
Exactly the question I have been having forever. Got 2 sets of L210's and were pretty sloppy in a Crye JPC 1.0. Large L210's plates in a large carrier do not work. I ended up getting a nice yoga mat from Wal-Mart and snugged it up. Pretty frustrating, should have got SAPI instead.
Thank you so much for this video! Do you mind if I ask how tall/how much you weigh and does the small AVS plate pouch fit you? I’m 6 ft 155 and am wondering if the medium or small is better. If I can fit large swimmers in a small standard/sapi, I feel like that might not been too bad. Esp if the medium avs sapi’s are out of stock until November
@@EODFish thank you so much for the input! I’m at a bit of a crossroad here as the avs sapi medium plate bags won’t be in stock until early Nov but the medium swimmers cut is in stock. Would you wait for the sapi’s or get the swimmers cut now?
thanks for sharing‼️ my friends and relatives in Ukraine fighting for their country and their families with strongest and dangerous aggressor in the world we looking for every way to help them save lives if you can please help to develop level 3+ level 4 improvised DIY step by step method to make SAPI plates for our patriots and civilians in Ukraine easy made stand alone plate has to withstand against 7.62×39 LPS Mid Steel Core and 7.62×54R LPS Mid Steel Core rounds which Russian army troops commonly uses in general it equals 30-06 rounds but have some specifics such as a small steel penetrators inside bullets in the middle ...
Civilian new to body armor here, looking for an affordable set-up. I was considering the Battle Steel IIIA+ hard plates and wondered if I would need trauma pads or if a set of IIIA+ soft armor could be used as a trauma pad. I considered level III or IV plates, but I was concerned about the weight. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
When you look at “affordable” plates there are just too many trade offs to weigh to make a recommendation possible. Low cost plates are either going to be super thick, super heavy, or single curve. None of those are ideal but once you pick what you can handle it gets easier to narrow down.
Kind of a tangential question I was hoping you could give advice on. Do you think you lose much protection going down a plate size? I have about 10" nipple to nip, but would it be a big deal if I got SAPI cut smalls instead of mediums? I'm assuming the comfort doesn't change much, as long as you're not going up in plate size. I'm also a bit of a short torso, long legged guy, so I suspect that the shorter length would actually fit me a bit better.
Is it normal for the avs with harness to fit a little large? I have a jpc 2.0 in medium and a avs with harness in medium and the jpc feels smaller compared to the avs with harness? I actually prefer the way the jpc feels smaller on the body. What’s the reason for this? And also is that the reason why you have a medium jpc and a small avs?
I have the small because I got it in a trade, my work AVS is a medium. I think you are just experiencing the bulk of the harness which is also why I prefer the JPC or SPC to the AVS.
Hi I have never bought body armor before and have a few questions. 1. What size Hesco plates should I get? For cut, I was thinking of getting a shooter cut because I'm assuming it is easier to shoulder a rifle more fully? My measurements- (I am on the smaller side. I am about 5ft 6 1/2 and weigh about 120lbs). Chest circumference = approximately 32in Jugular notch down to my belly button = approximately 13-14in Center of one nipple to the center of the other = approx. 7.5in 2. What size plate carrier should I get based on my plate size?
You could do a 8x10 swimmer/shooter cut (they are essentially the same) but I don’t know a carrier that fits them intentionally. I would cut your losses and get a small sapi cut plate and learn to work around it as there are way more carriers sized for them.
@@EODFish Thank you for the reply! I ordered a small crye airlite spc months ago that is sapi cut. I know my measurements say I should get a small but I still worry that I'll receive my carrier and plates and feel like they're not covering anything. Guess I'll just find out 🤷♂️. I would assume the small spc couldn't fit medium sapi?
Hey man sorry if it's a dumb question but I bought a jpc 2.0 maritime large and i have 10x12 shooter cut plates. On the website i saw it fits 10x12 swimmer cut plates so will my shooter cut 10x12s fit? Eventually i want to get the right plates but if im good for now that'd give me peace of mind Edit: great vids btw!
Hesco 3810. Or if you're really rolling in money, Hesco U210. Or if you just want pistol/buckshot protection while being as light and thin as possible, Hesco P210.
@@EODFish That class of plate (hard polyethylene Level IIIA) is really underrated. They stop basically everything except rifle rounds with much less backface deformation that what you get with soft armor, and weigh basically nothing. A 10x12 P210 plate is like 1 pound. They almost make chest rigs obsolete. Why wear a chest rig when for a mere two extra pounds you can protect your vitals against all handgun threats, shotgun threats, explosive shrapnel, and stabs?
I just bought a medium crye jpc. I looked at the hesco 4400. Good combo? Good plates? Any info would be awesome. I can’t find any good info on this stuff.
Depending on the way the vest is configured single curve can be ultra annoying. For example, the SPC shoulder straps pull from the front of the plates and it can be pretty uncomfortable with single curve plates.
Do you think it would be possible to use 8x10 plates in a carrier, that’s says it hold 10x12 plates. I just ordered the carrier and my buddy told me he has two spare 8x10 plates. so I was wondering if you think they would work. thank you
I have a large sapi carrier, will large shooters cut plates be too small? If so would adding plate backers make it better? This is my first plate carrier and set of plates
I ordered some 10x12 Swimmers. Hoplite 26225 or 26, whichever is the larger. Will these fit fine in a medium/large JPC 2.0, or should I definitely try to find the large* swimmer JPC 2.0?
@@EODFish I don’t understand why they call Mira and legacy plates shooters cut but they are shaped just like sapi cut and i read that the k zero well take sapi shooters and simmers cut
Hey I know this is a bit off topic but I’m looking to buy my first set of plates and can’t seem to find a good answer to my question. I’m wondering what is the most comfortable between single curve or Multi-curved.. is one better for front and another for rear or do you recommend Multi-curved for front and back or is single curved front and back a safer option? I’m pretty standard slim build fwiw. Thx in advance!
@@EODFish okay good to know, thx for a straight answer. Was shocked that I couldn’t find anyone discussing that topic directly. Any familiarity with tactical scorpion gear PE plates? $200 a piece for multi curved 3+ and they weigh about 3lbs each
@@EODFish yeah seems almost too good to be true but I came across them from RU-vid torture testing and they seem to hold up to the rating. I’m sure they are not formally tested by NIJ but I think they match the standard still. They have a 30 day lead time, good customer reviews, wide selection, and their customer service has already been very helpful and responsive to my email inquiries.
@@EODFish will Hesco 4101 6x6 side plates work in the Crye armor chassis or do you think the Hesco 4100 6x6 will work? The 4100 side plates are 0.93inches thick and the 4101 side plates are 1.19inches thick
Hey I got a Crye Precision SPC in large, what size Hesco plates will fit best? It's killing me trying to decide if 10x12 will work or do I need bigger? Thanks.
