I've been a lifelong fisherman, im slowly working through your videos, and learnt alot even as a seasoned angler. I've recently tried your version of the wishbone to Great affect. Thank you.

Hi Wayne, every little bit helps and I’m sure you have loads of tips and different views towards what I do. It all helps, not just me but others as well. I’d love to hear your comments. Thank you for taking the time to watch. 🎣👍🏻

The wishbone is amazing for flatties, and this is a brilliant version of it, allowing the individual baits to do their own thing. However, for me, I prefer ALL of my rig to be nailed to the deck when flattie fishing, so the only change I'd personally make to this would be to change the main body structure to an up and over. You'd have the benefits of a shorter rig for casting, with the doubled over hook-length 40 inches and the total rig length only 20. All over the hook-length would be on the bottom flowing in the tide and you'd be left effectively with fishing a running ledger. I can see a flounder session, perhaps trying both, one on each rod and see which performs best. Certainly worth some thought. But, once again you've inspired me to grab the tackle box and knock up some rigs, just wish I had a workshop as cool as yours!!

Cheers Stu, I have considered doing the comparison you describe and think that may well be on the cards some time soon now we have had this frost and the flounder should switch on. 😉🎣👍🏻

Another great tutorial on rig making. I’ve used this tutorial to make my own Clipped Wishbone rigs. As I like to have pre baited snoods rather than pre baited rigs I made one adjustment and that is to incorporate a rig clip on the snood part of the rig to be able to take the snood off and clip a pre baited snood on. Off to Hamble in the next couple of days to give it all a go. Tight lines fella.
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 года назад
All of the rigs I show are there to be modified and a detachable link for the snood is a cracking idea. Pre-baited snoods ready to go give more time to get bait presentation right and maximises hooks in the water. 🎣👍🏻

@@seaangling I find it sits on the sea bed better than something with a longer trace. Especially in deeper water and some of the shore angles we get round here.

Hi Mark. Love the videos. I’ve been busy beavering away also over Christmas/new year break and put together a version of this but slight change. 1 up 2 down on wishbone. Sacrifice a 1ft ish length on snood but gain another hook in water. Swap out snood swivel above SRT spring for cascade swivel. Then add another snood length to clip into it.

Use baitstops Sequins and a stonknot or silicone knot Baits won’t fly up the hook

HI Mark - me again - another great video - can I ask why you don't use crimps instead of stop knots - especially for the snood attached to the rig body? Is this so that you can continually aadjust if need be? Thanks once again - keep up the great work!
@seaangling
@seaangling Год назад
I do use crimps sometimes in certain aspects but much prefer the adjustability of a stop knot or bait stop.
@Trentk69
@Trentk69 Год назад
@@seaangling Thanks for the reply - just one other observation, would you consider using a split shot on each of the hooks just to ensure the baits are hard to the deck?
@seaangling
@seaangling Год назад
@@Trentk69 it wouldn’t hurt and another consideration is to use a back lead. All of these or keep the rod tips very low, depends on the location.

The auto focus has been playing up and is built into the lense. The camera I use isn’t intended for use in salt water spray and all weathers so I may have to buy another. This was take 2 after filming it all once before and realising during edit that it wasn’t good enough.

Seems to be a complicated rig for Flounder/flatties. I must admit I haven't fished for Flounder for a long time but, when I did I used a Flattie/ Estuary rod, 11 to 12 ft casting about 3 ozs, the rig was very simple a Flounder spoon, usually an ABU Rauto, tied to the end of the mainline and a hook snood 4" ish tied on the other side, baited with worm baits and kept moving. So the rod was never put down and the spoon was always kicking up mud or sand. Does anyone still use Flounder spoons? I understand their use died off as the Flounder stocks diminshed, would it be worth trying again?
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 года назад
I think the big difference between the rig I’ve shown and your method Alan is mine is to be fished relatively static at varying distance where yours is more like slow spinning. I use to use a 1 3/4 silver spoon tipped with rag many years ago and it was an enjoyable way to fish. Quite often you could actually see the flounder follow the spoon and nip at the bait.

Hi Mark l watching u making the wishborn rig do u not use 8"" crimps for ur trace mark l use crimps for my traces
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 года назад
I’m not keen on crimps and once they are set there is no adjustment. For this rig I wanted the IMP in case I was using plain leads but also use the flat breakaways which need varying snood positions.
